Guest TheJinkIsBack
Hi folks, I'm a newbie here and I understand your pain (I'm fighting the cause on behalf of my wife). I've started a new thread regarding Diploma qualified nurses in the UK so hopefully the Admins will accept it. I too, have been "questioning" AHPRA for want of a better phrase on Twitter and feel I'm getting nowhere. It literally is akin to speaking to a brick wall. Also, for those interested, there is a new Twitter account called ClassActionvAHPRA that may be worth following. I don't quite know their intentions as they are in the process of creating their website. However, it seems they are making some kind of petition to the courts regarding AHPRAs assesments of UK nurses. It will be interesting to see what happens there. I might grab myself some popcorn and hang around :-) http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/jobs-careers/212987-ahpra-why-uk-diploma-nurses-shouldnt-bother-applying.html

Guest NuriootpaSA
I have actually seen an AHPRA letter where the candidate has been told that they must be in Australia to complete their registration within 3 months of the date of their Letter Eligibility. This means that candidates, on receiving their LOE have three months to get a job, get sponsored, get a visa, sell up, get to Oz and register. Given that the speed of Visa granting is dictated by the DIBP and NOT by AHPRA, it is only a matter of time before there is a legal challenge to the AHPRA Board, for setting conditions on Registration that cannot be legally met. If every applicant asked their AHPRA Case Manager for justifiction of the timeframe, given the need for a Visa, it would certainly ruffle a few feathers, if nothing else. It may also be interesting to compare the conditions set for UK/NI applications with those from The Republic of Ireland. As "The Jink" says, interesting times ahead, though extremly frustrating times too. Hi folks, I'm a newbie here and I understand your pain (I'm fighting the cause on behalf of my wife). Katielou1984
Hello everyone, I an going through AHPRA for the second time! My first application, sent in September 13 was withdrawn because they didn't receive my transcript...except I know my uni sent them! They took the money and then I had to re-submit again. So, at the beginning of Feb I sent it all again and I am still waiting! The needed more info from the university despite the fact I did a degree and I have a post gad specialist course! I have phoned AHPRA twice and sent two emails to my case advisor but no one can confirm if the documents sent have been received! It's so frustrating! I'm desperate to get this sorted and not have the second application withdrawn! Is anyone getting their applications approved at the moment? There must be some good news out there somewhere? I just got in and saw the twitter feed from Class action v AHPRA. Has anyone sent their statements. Unfortunately for me they I missed the deadline, has anyone been in contact with them? Katielou1984 I was told last week by AHPRA I would be getting some paperwork last week Friday or this week, so I phone again this morning to see if it had been posted and the answer was not yet to keep an eye over the emails!!! picto1
email conversation with my case officer.........Good morning Iain Thank you for your email. I am aware you have had discussion with Cathy and she has basically told you as much as I know. The letters have been drafted for sign off and I have been advised that you should receive yours either today or tomorrow by email in the first instance. I do not know what the outcome is as the letters were assigned to other team members to facilitate a speedier process due to the sheer volume of work this end. I hope for a positive outcome for you. that sounds like a nice response

Some people on here have been waiting well before Christmas AHPRA class action seem to think they have a case as it is illegal apparently for them to assess us using new criteria, when we submitted using the new? Has anyone else contacted them?
bigmac
Hi everyone, just to make you aware these are 2 tweets from AHPRA this morning in response to 2 questions DipHE is AQF level 6. IQNM Criterion 4 requires AQF7. Post reg nursing quals also considered. AQF info: bit.ly/1nDMGxh The local Board is meeting on a fortnightly basis for those IQNM applications that require a decision of the local Board

Guest woody674
I've seen there is a lot of concern that people are worried that under the new guidelines set out by AHPRA there seems to be a lot of uncertainty over the acceptance of British trained Diploma Nurses RMN's, RGN's. I too applied back at the end of March and yet to hear anything positive from them. But saying that I have neither had anything negative. So despite the lack of reassurance that my application will be accepted I think the only way to proceed is remain positive. There's too much negativity around and until someone posts on here evidence of rejection from AHPRA for British diploma nurses then don't get caught up in the captivity of negativity!! I found something on there framework for assessing that could be quite useful for people to see if they haven't already done so and it clearly appears that our university qualifications for our diplomas is equivalent to their Bachelors degree or Level 7 if you like. AQF specification for the Bachelor Degree Bachelor Degree qualification type descriptor Purpose The Bachelor Degree qualifies individuals who apply a broad and coherent body of knowledge in a range of contexts to undertake professional work and as a pathway for further learning Knowledge Graduates of a Bachelor Degree will have a broad and coherent body of knowledge, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in one or more disciplines as a basis for independent lifelong learning Skills Graduates of a Bachelor Degree will have: • cognitive skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge • cognitive and technical skills to demonstrate a broad understanding of knowledge with depth in some areas • cognitive and creative skills to exercise critical thinking and judgement in identifying and solving problems with intellectual independence • communication skills to present a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas Application of knowledge and skills Graduates of a Bachelor Degree will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills: • with initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship • to adapt knowledge and skills in diverse contexts • with responsibility and accountability for own learning and professional practice and in collaboration with others within broad parameters Volume of The volume of learning of a Bachelor Degree is typically 3 – 4 years learning what will be will be!!! 2adults2cheekykids
Hi, can anyone help on my query about Ahpra? We already have PR, house ready to sell and sorting removals!! But my registration still hasn't come through, I applied in October 2013 but they said as it wasn't processed in time and it was transferred over to the new criteria which is a nightmare! I have been given 3 extensions now and they have asked for info on pharmacology criteria 8 also criteria 6 but I thought this would be my transcripts which they had in October. However it was 14 years ago and my uni have said we probably didn't even cover half of what they are asking for! I'm am soooooooooo stressed as due to move out to Perth in September. Has anyone come up against this? Thanks Hayley xx
kellyv
Hi Hayley. Unfortunately we are all up against this at the moment. Very stressful. Which Uni did u got to? I think some are more helpful than others. My uni have been very helpful with my numerous requests but I haven't had a positive outcome yet either. Time will tell. There are lots of nurses who have been waiting since last autumn. You're definately not on your own.
geordiegirl68
Hi Hayley, welcome to the frustrated nurses thread, We too have PR visas, and have sold our house, now in rental, but no sign of AHPRA yet, as Kelly said, sadly, there are many of us in this boat. My uni have been great too, and I qualified in 1995! So really, they should be able to help! I hope it is some comfort that you are not alone, you might like to check out twitter, as AHPRA are on there, and many queries have been put to them. Keep smiling, and keep the faith, I hope we'll all get there in the end. Edited June 10, 2014 by geordiegirl68 wrong grammer
bigmac
Hi Hayley, Yep, we are all being driven crazy on here but at least we're all in it together. We've got PR as well & the house is up for sale. The college I did my nursing degree at no longer exists & my transcript only states pharmacology so the NMC sent some general EU directive. I've no idea if this will be enough evidence to cover criteria 8 & will just have to wait for the outcome. Personally I'm determined to go no matter what even if it means a career rethink.
