Amber Snowball
Ok. I don’t know NSW that well so others will be able to assist. Might be an idea to try and narrow down where you’d possibly be working. What sort of nursing do you do? Jobs are not as plentiful as they used to be. Seek.com.au would give a broad idea of what’s available where and in what specialities. Do you want to be near beaches, or rural, or city based? Just asking as it will help others with their advice. NSW is huge and covers lots of different lifestyles. Good luck.
TERRY 81
Thanks. Im a community nurse and the company i have gone through have said NWS would be the best option. An area that has come up is Strathfield, but renting seems very expensive. We dont want City, would like to be by the beach of possible im probably asking alot and ot may mean us just looking when we come over. Thank you again for your advise
LKC
To be honest, you'd be better off looking at where you're likely to be working. NSW is massive, it would take something like 15+ hours to drive from the north of the NSW coast to the south of the NSW coast. On that coast is Sydney, plus a number of smaller towns/cities such as Nowra, Wollongong, Newcastle and Port Macquarie, and many small townships, but honestly there isn't much in between. You'd be best off concentrating on the larger towns/townships to see what work is available, and then work out from there. There are families in all parts of Australia, so it isn't necessarily about finding family friendly areas in the state, but about finding work and then finding the areas that will suit your family around that work. Work will be more plentiful in the towns/cities, but living costs will be higher. Living costs will most likely be lower further out, but work may be hard to come by or commute times may be high. Quoll
What LKC said - NSW is huge and there are families living all over, nowhere has the “family friendly” seal of approval ahead of anywhere else. Go where you can get a job but you’d probably not want Strathfield even with quite a long barge pole. Every man and his pup wants to live near the coast so things will be expensive and competition for jobs in those locations will be comparatively harder. If they offer you Inner Sydney it’s because people don’t want to work in that area and it’s expensive anyway. See where else they may offer you then get back to us with is XYZ an ok area to live in? Thank you again for your advise Strathfield is right in the middle of Sydney (the biggest city in NSW). Housing across the whole of Sydney is horrendously expensive. You're lucky as a nurse because it will be easier for you to get work in country areas than most occupations. If you want a quiet beach lifestyle, look at the smaller towns along the coast like Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie.
Areyousure
As a nurse, you really shouldn’t be affected by job prospects. The smaller cities and towns, would have jobs as well. And the living cost would be considerably less and you would also be able to live closer to your workplace, reducing your commute.

Thank u xx You could try Gosford area, not far to coast and lots if lovely areas to live if you go north of Gosford you will find cheaper house prices especially inland, depends what your budget is and whether you are preparedto live in a new development. Good luck!
trabonita
The central coast is a beautiful area about an hour and 20 mins North of Sydney. Plenty of options for nurses here. Gosford is the main town but the coastal suburbs surrounding it are gorgeous and much more affordable than Sydney. Try places like Avoca Beach, Copacabana, Terrigal, Killcare. Areyousure
Do you want to live by the coast or live inland ? Wollongong is such a nice place and it is very close to Sydney. Loads of parks and fun activities for kids. And it got beautiful beaches and lakes. 8ADE55F6-E644-4B14-AAEE-AC633904D91B.mp4 Edited September 2, 2018 by Areyousure
carol123
Coffs harbour! beaches, sun, humidity, sharks (hey! But they're everywhere, right?) A brilliant base hospital and community nursing for our aging population. Aged care nursing is what attracts the most interest here. And people who still say "gu'day to passers by.
