The Police check valid for one year. I had mine expired and I re-applied as well as re-uploaded.

Medicals also valid for one year but I do not redo until I am told to do so.

Doing this (the medicals when told to do so) just means that you're willing to wait an extended amount of time for the grant. 

Typically, once a CO requests a new medical - there is a minimum of 28 days (to upload the new files), then additionally about another week (if you lucky) before the CO revisits the case (at soonest). 

For me, the wait was not worth it, hence, I was going to redo them all on expiry. This is entirely a personal / circumstantial decision and differs from person to person, depending on if they can / are willing to wait.

Thanks for the advice there, I will definitely go ahead with police checks.

My immi account still says no action on Medicals, but It has been more than a year. Is it possible to just go off my own back and do them again? I remember the first time I needed some sort of code to be able to book in?

Yes, absolutely - all you need to do is apply for a new medical from the immi account, meaning you'd get a new HAP ID. 

You would then go into Bupa with this, and tell them about your application. Not only should they update your personal account with the medicals, but your application as well.
- This is the route we were going to go. 

The alternative, is to wait for the CO and let them give you a new HAP ID (which they get the same way).

I think 7-8 is a little optimistic. 

I'm of the opinion - expect the worst, hope for the best. I'd allow up to 10 months, so you don't get upset if it does take little longer than expected.

Personally i'd be happy with anything under 12.

The rate they seem to be coming in at for most on here at the moment is around 10.

Hi all

immigration contact us and they says that our documents are all good but the visa is not approved yet because there is some internal process with the company 

my husband ask them if maybe miss some documents or something they says that cant tell us the reason

btw I don’t think there is some document missing otherwise they could just ask to the company

Would like to thank everyone in the website for being very supportive. It was really encouraging to check this website everyday to see updates and grants.

I did not use MA but I can see the benefit of having one. It really depends on your situation. 

Reminder to everyone that once you apply for PR, you are eligible for Medicare! This saved me a lot of money!

My advice to all is to keep calm and try not to check immiaccount everyday. Your time will come!

Hi,

Yes. They asked for several documents which took me quite a bit of time to get. This included police clearance from countries that I have not visited since applying.

Best to keep your police clearance updated regardless of whether you visited the country or not

The last thing you want (or me) would be for the CO to review your case and put everything on hold, just for another PCC / medical. 

You do typically get a few months (at max) leniency, depending on the CO - but I'm of the  opinion of why risk it. 

The problem with this is you don’t know when they will open your case! Plus I heard it’s down to the case officers discretion - my case was 18 months before being touched some people wait over 2 years- for 2 people it’s $1000 a go for medical and police so question is how many times do you want to spend that when you don’t even know that your nomination will be approved.... applying for nomination and visa at the same time as DE is already a large enough financial risk for me I think!

Yeah its a pain.

The way around overpaying is don't complete your medical and Police Clearance straight away. They are not needed immediately when visa is lodged.

Hold off as long as you can depending on your visa timeline.

For example if IMMI state the approx processing time is 12-18 months - apply for Police Clearance and Medical around the 8 month mark. That way you would need to be very unlucky to have to complete them again.

This is also why I said it's entirely up to each person's situation and circumstances. For me, the money was not worth the added wait, especially as it seems to be so long already.

So I understand what you mean about the finances, however, it's up to the applicant. As we mentioned, it "should" be seen within 10-12 months, however, some are taking make longer, in which case it could be more expensive.

It was my MA who advised me to hold off on my medical - as she didn't want me having to pay for it twice if my application took longer than 12 months. I'm glad she did.

I used to agree with your preference...until we (me and wife) had to go through medicals and PCCs two times already and we'll likely have to go for a third time (last medicals expired a few weeks ago).

And we both hate needles and my wife has the habit to faint...so this time we will not do anything unless personally escorted to the medicals and comforted while there by the Co. Including kiss on the boo-boo once done, to make it go away. 

Thing is, each case is a story on its own and each applicant should evaluate their priorities (possible extra cost vs possible extra delay). 

@boo-yaa method is likely the safest and most balanced bet and would suggest new applicants to follow something close to it if in doubt.
