Lambethlad
The Economist has named Melbourne as the world's most liveable city for the 6th year in a row. Perth and Adelaide also made the top 10. http://www.realestate.com.au/news/melbourne-worlds-liveable-city-sixth-year/?rsf=ps%3Afacebook%3Anatrei
Parley
I was sure Dan Andrews had stuffed it up but not yet which is good. I do think our traffic problems are going to be our undoing soon.
Rallyman
How does Perth get in top 10 according to some on here it's Armageddon there, wonder why they live there?
kevsan
I do wonder if they factored in cost of living, how different the results would be
Mike@Bonbeach
Having lived in the SE suburbs for 9 years now I am always amazed at these results. The rail track from where I live to the city is pretty much head to toe graffiti, Flinders Street station is an eyesore (IMO). Outside Flinders Street is not much better. I think the MCG is an ugly building certainly from the outside. There is no rail link to the airport. Drunks, beggars and homeless people on the streets. I grant there are some nice places within the city but to be voted the best is in my view mindboggling. Mike
flag of convenience
How does Perth get in top 10 according to some on here it's Armageddon there, wonder why they live there? Because it has all to do with safety and issues not impacting on those here for business reasons, rather than the humble migrant whom must factor in expense and education. Parley
Of course humble migrant wouldn't come here unless it was a lot better than place that humble migrant came from.

It is not suggestive of that at all but those sent by business. Australian/Canadian cities are generally safe and have park accessibility, air quality, and the like. Of course there are a host of other cities that add better quality to ordinary people, like higher walkability, better public transport systems, more urban vibe, and so on. The same comes up every year.

Nothing to do with making money. Little to do with quality of life even when concerning the humble migrant. Actually recent departures are way up last quarter. That could be indicative of something less palatable as well.

Mike Not sure it is even most likable. Just the safest where certain criteria is met.

Simply the best, better than all the rest nanananina It certainly was regarded as one of the best cities within The Commonwealth, perhaps the world. That was the 1880's though. Most likely unknown by great per cent of the world these days.

flag of convenience
30 criteria and won 6 years in a row. Not much more to say is there Besides the meaningless nature of the survey. Some of most unliveable cities in some measurement, if house prices are a consideration and general aesthetics. Pretty much the same Anglo speaking cities every year.
