Liam13
Do you think we will ever see such an agreement ?... What's your thoughts
Ken
No chance. Australia knows that the UK has a population of 60 million. Now obviously they won't all want to go to Australia but even a small fraction of that would be a problem Look how many New Zealanders take advantage of the free movement agreement that already exists and think of it as a percentage of population. New Zealand's population is tiny compared to the UK which is the only reason Australia accepted that free movement agreement.

CiderDrinkingCoder
I bloody hope not. Economic migration for skilled individuals who can add value to a country is one thing. Letting the dross move in, well... That only leads in one direction.
amibovered
With the U.K trying it's hardest to cut down on immigration, what do you think the chances are of them allowing free access to nearly a third of the worlds population?
CiderDrinkingCoder
The proposals are only for free movement between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. I cannot see anyone being mad enough to suggest opening this sort of free movement up to the entire Commonwealth.
Richard01
Restricted movement with the ability to handpick the incomers would be more appealing to governments (as it currently the process)
CiderDrinkingCoder
Besides, having just spent a good crack of cash on my 189, I would be more than a little pissed off if Joe Bloggs could move without one shortly after...
Shayman
As a Brit who has worked my damned hardest to gain a the level of qualifications needed for a visa I sincerely hope not! Australia and New Zealand's vigilant border controls are becoming more and more vindicated with every passing day. Lets just hope that the population aren't duped into electing a limp-wristed left wing government any time soon...

In answer to the question, I doubt it. A left wing govt would not go that far. Even if they increase the 'refugee' numbers to 500,000, they will still control the borders. Shayman
Glad to see homophobia is alive and kicking in Halifax Apologies if I have caused any offence. I am certainly no homophobe and thought the term simply meant soft / weak before doing a quick google just now.
