katherine1989
Knowing another Chef's timeline helps so much, so thank you. One last question... What kind of questions do they ask in the Skype interview? Is it pretty intense? Going off my certificates started 7/5/2014 training and employment check passed 3rd june (THIS IS STAGE ONE) once passed you go to stage 2, this consists of health and hygiene test online, then a few days later a skype interview mine lasted approx 2.5 hours in Manchester skype interview was around july cant remember skilled migration assessment result 2nd sept statement of results 2nd sept certificate IV 2nd sept first aid 30th july (YOU MUST HAVE THIS TO GET THE CERTIFICATE) (IF YOU NEED IELTS GET A TEST BOOKED NOW AND REVISE) hope this helps MOOCOW

Since your partner is a British citizen, they don't need to take an English test per http://www.immi.gov.au/faqs/Pages/how-can-i-prove-i-have-functional-english.aspx
MOOCOW
Its not intense but 2.5 hours of questioning is what it is. you go into a room a witness logs on to the person in oz, all very friendly nothing to panic over, introduce yourself etc, he explains the system and then its a casual chat, interview with him or her. He clicks away showing you slides, questions, pictures of slicers and asks you to explain how to clean it, other questions include allergies, temps, set up procedures on a daily basis, what you would do in certain circumstances ie an argument has happened and how you would deal with it. how you cook certain types of products ie bread, pasta, pastry the different types and how its made / joints of meat and fish work including safe cooking temps, different types of sauces, types of buffet and canopies. You need to do a tradeset report which he has a copy off, in this you advise what you do or have done in the past. DONT LIE ON IT. as he will certainly try and trip you up, i havent done much bread work for years but know how to, so if you havent done it dont say you have, if he asks you wont know the answer. if you tick you have done pastry and only worked with or made short pastry and he asks about puff say so but make sure you know all about short and talk about that instead. Once you have done the tradeset report you will understand the type of questions that will come up. hope this helps. PomCop
Hi all So exciting to see you all progress! I am just in the process of getting everything together for my skills assessment by TRA. I'm more worried about the IELTS exam than anything, as I need to score a Grade 8 in each of the 4 modules in order to get the extra 10 points that I need to get to 60 points for my 189 Visa. Can you take a look at my threat and give any advice on there? Here's the link: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/229277-roof-plumber-189-visa.html#post1936705426 thanks! bgarlo
I applied for the visa on 16th January, I have a feeling that I have not given enough information on my partner and I been together. I am hoping that I get a CO within the next month, Would people recommend getting PC and medicals booked snd sorted or wait to be asked for them. I notice that some people have who applied in January have been given their grant, so the rest of us January appliers should hear something soon. Good luck everyone

saff
so there's a question - is everything processed centrally? Or does WA process WA applications, QLD process QLD etc and does this vary onshore to offshore? This waiting game is doing me in now :arghh: haha
andrewajp002
Had my medical today, wasnt that bad  Apart from having a female doctor and having to strip down to near nothing with no gown offered was a little embarrassing but they are professionals and I doubt I will see them again. All in all it took about 1.5 hours due to issues with the emedical website playing games, but all done now and now the wait starts for the results. My only issue is poss. having to see a specialist regarding early stages of arthritis, not bad atm but they had some concerns.

I was up front about it as it is slightly visible and currently have some issues as cold weather stiffens the joints this time of year, I prob should have delayed the medical until the weather got warmer however its not bad enough I don't think to cause the visa to fail, well hopefully not. Pinkestlady
Ah I see, was wondering what kind of examinations they do at medical. I have just booked ours for next week and always worry that these things may bring to light something we didn't know about. I have had an irrational fear of medicals since being turned down by the army for flat feet.

The medical itself isnt that mad, it comprised of Chest X-ray, Urine test, blood pressure check and blood tests. Oh and a general once over by the doctor for anything obvious. If its visual they will spot it, and most other things they are interested in will come out in the blood tests. Anything else I wouldn't worry about. But better to be honest, I was up front regarding some depression in 2011 and we had a 5 min chant about it and they disregarded it totally.
