  1. depends on your situation. You don't have to wait for them to ask for them - if you're onshore then do it asap so you can submit and then the info is all there when the CO picks up your file and you don't have to wait.. Uploading PC and medicals doesn't really have a baring on the decision coming around time wise - unless you've already been asked for them. I uploaded mine early which meant they didn't have to approach me for the info. If the CO asks then you have 28 days to provide them (but can ask for extensions) but as I found as soon as they have everything it doesn't necesarily take long. If you haven't been asked for them yet then you're in the general processing timeline. if that makes sense not sure I put it across too well..
  2. and for the triple post - PR Granted and new job accepted!! my GOD they stressed me out thanks for putting up with my whinging and good luck to all
  3. sorry to double post but another question - have just been told on the phone that they won't even look at it again for 28days now.. Does anyone know if that is strictly speaking (ie they won't even look at it again as soon as they find something missing?) or is it a case of worst case senario like the 3 months?
  4. ARGH. got an email from my CO - but because I mentioned that I'm engaged, I need to provide a copy of the Mrs' passport to prove that she is an aus citizen I guess to proove that she's not a defacto / dependent waiting to get an easy visa etc. but at least it's all they want I'm a little annoyed that they say 'if urgent, contact us on the details below' and then don't provide a phone number lol. Have been on hold for 40 minutes..... edit: is there a non-general mailbox or contact number? I've uploaded the copy and got a response saying that they'll reply in 7 days
  5. First time I've seen this, almost all my file names have spaces
  6. I wish it was as simple as that, I really do. I hope you can live with the guilt!
  7. I definately do* *I reserve the right to blame you when I relapse into anxiety and insanity. Very true though a bit of knowledge is a bad thing!
  8. Very true, I'm sure I've heard similar happening - although you might think it best to take them in case you needed ID for banks etc
  9. I'm out of facebook, news and coffee to distract me - No choice but to sit at my desk rocking slowly back and forth and hoping I can stay in the country for the rest of the day.. someone feel free to chuck a blanket on me if I look cold.
  10. yep no access here either, someone must have restricted access to it. Cruel. :swoon:
  11. Good to hear, at least you know it's on its way Because I haven't passed the three month period generally they generally don't want to even open the file if I call and just advise 3 months :biglaugh:
  12. Hahaha I'm glad it's not just me who has paranoid thoughts like that re calling them! I was polite and they weren't too bothered so don't think any harm was done. To be honest they didn't even ask my details the second time. I'd like to think that they couldn't bump people up or down the list for calling though. Like someone else said, only a small cross section of people on here so everyone could be green on here and there still could be hundreds more being processed, we just don't know, similarly there could be people who put in for their visas much after the people on the tracker and who've been approved that we don't hear about. Noticed that one or two as lat as the 30th on the sheet have been granted - lucky! I'm anxious for exactly the same reason, need it finalized ASAP so I can get out of a pretty tense work situation and have a new job signed off before I miss the opportunity! I applied on the 27th so to be honest my call to them was a little premature but was hoping they could give me a nugget of hope and advise when it might be looked at; I'm feeling pretty positive and hopeful that it will be granted this week but time will tell! fingers crossed for you, I expect you'll be hearing any day soon
  13. Made the mistake of calling DIAC to see if there were any updates. 'well.. I can tell you that in early march we were processing early december' was about all they could clarify.
  14. Very true, Typically I've always been head contractor / EPCM/ top tier roles and the workoad has varied - the last 4 years have been very full on but well paid, at the moment I'll be honest I'm very bored! Deffo, I've noticed a big change in the last couple of years, if some of these terribly composed bespoke contracts were phased out it'd be great too. It's on the pickup despite what the doom and gloomists say there is still plenty of work available for a well experienced QS/CA/PM/Planner etc with plenty projects mid flow or wrapping up and a few more big ones kicking off.. Seems to be a whole lot of City Centre and Infrastructure works going on around over this way and the last time I was in Brisbane too.
  15. I've done this and yeah, when you change company, the new company effectively takes place of the sponsorer on the original visa. My original visa number still applies and the original duration is the same. As far as I know; it is the employer's responsibility to pay for 457 visa costs. The sponsor can NOT ask you to pay back for costs associated with visa fees http://migrationblog.immi.gov.au/category/457-visa/ http://migrationblog.immi.gov.au/2013/12/10/457-sponsors-pay-your-own-way/
  16. I know a few people who work in labs doing ground sample testing. Quite monotonous but they don't have formal qualifications. Pay is less than $75k though, around 50 until they climb up the ladder. Rather than the hours being an issue, you should concentrate on identifying what you want to work in. From there you work out the how's and why's and if's.. At the end of the day, the only jobs that will pay good money for a 3-4 day working week are the ones that people don't particularly want.. The real world is largely : Good Hours, Good Pay, Job Satisfaction. Pick two. (and for many people it's pick one!)
  17. Hey guys, just asking for a friend. Basically they've been a sales manager and in advertising, and have always wanted to go into recruitment. Wondering if there are any associated/similar jobs out there that they could get sponsored in if they managed to either get a job elsewhere for the company to build up a record and transfer here on that role; or that they could sponsor her for if they impressed enough on the interview? No degree etc. Seems a long shot but he's finished the first year working holiday visa and didn't work remotely for long enough to get a second and loves it here. I didn't have any ideas cheers!
  18. Depends if you get caught or not  Yeah it does suck that the fastest you can go is around 68mph with most places being around 40mph..the speed camera tactics do my tree in too. I miss being a stones throw away from the autobhan if I'm honest
  19. How've you found adapting to the life of a QS/CA over here Jim? 4 years in and it still bemuses me the way they go about things here sometimes
  20. yeah fair point, even on a forum level though, just wondered if it was a general thing
