CaptainR
My wife just called up a company to clean the windows, they came down and said it would cost $200, this for a basic 2 story 5 bedroom house. I expected $40-$60 and would get it done once a month... Am I way out in my figures, thinking to just buy a ladder and do it myself.
Keith and Linda
I would say that's about right, and I know the end result would not pass the 'Linda test', so muggings here does our two storey home and suffer the test process. Jacaranda
Buy yourself an extending window pole thingy, with a blade on one side and a microfibre cleaning thing on the other side.I have one and they are brilliant.Only cost around 20 pounds in the UK via ebay so I'm sure the Oz ebay would have either the same or similar. In the UK I had a young lad come round and he changed me £10, I occasionally asked him to do the inside as well and paid another £10 for that. CaptainR
Thanks for the advice, I'll just it do myself when I get home. I can't bring myself to pay someone $200 or even $100 to do the windows when I can do it myself in an hour. I work offshore and don't make $200 an hour... Nearlythere1
I love all these little tips that pop up every now and then.. Can't see me paying $200 - $300 to have some bits of glass wetted either.. Got a big extending pole in the shed that is about to be retrieved and washed and jeyes fluided and packed in the container.. Thanks all. Londongal76
It costs no more than about £20-30 here. $200 is a rip! There's a new business for you. Charge $150 and you'll be quids in!

Alaska
That's crazy. We had a 3 storey town house in the UK and cost £12 to clean the windows. I'm definitely in the wrong job, shame I don't like heights.
tonyman
You won't say that after you see the state most if them leave your windows, most don't know how to clean windows properly , same as most the trades , UK far more superior in all jobs , you'll see ive never seen a window cleaner in over 7 years , we clean our own windows as most of us don't need to climb a ladder unlike you when you run back home because you couldn't hack it ..........or find any decent bacon or sausage ...........see ya .....
