redindian
Hello, I have applied skill regional 489 (state nomination visa) on 23rd January 2014 from Bangladesh. CO from team 33(Brisbane) allocated and requested for Medical and Police Clearance on 09 March 2014. All of the requested documents were submitted on 03rd April 2014. Then no more response form my CO until 02nd August, when he asked for Polio Vaccination evidence though the evidence is not applicable for the applicants of Bangladeshi citizens. That's why I inform him that according to DIBP that evidence is not applicable for me. Now again 12 days have been passed till waiting for response. I am just wondering why my CO still hesitating to reach a decision? According to DIBP the standard time frame for 489 visa is about 3 months. What can I do now? Is any one there who have faced the same situation as I am at present ?

Jupiter19
Call him. A lot of people, including me, who applied in January for a 190 visa, got their visas, after submitting all the documents and calling their CO team.
Guest
If you've been asked to provide a polio clearance I would do so, regardless if your country isn't on the list. Your CO has asked for this you say, I'd not argue it personally. http://www.immi.gov.au/News/Pages/Polio.aspx

MaggieMay24
It could be your CO is working on other cases and just hasn't gotten back to reviewing your reply. I'd simply try to be patient and wait to hear further.
redindian
Actually I have submitted Police Clearance document but i hesitated in case of providing POLIO Vaccination Evidence its not applicable for me. It was my mistake to mention "Polio clearance instead of Polio Vaccination evidence".

Polio clearance then hmm, don't know much about that, not something your average POM has to prove either..
bell123321
If you can provide it then maybe provide it? I guess its just being patient. Sure everything will be fine but can imagine the waiting is horrible.

Your CO has asked for this you say, I'd not argue it personally. http://www.immi.gov.au/News/Pages/Polio.aspx Actually its not like a strait forward request from CO rather it seems Polio evidence is asked unintentionally. The original text are given below: ""Sensitive Dear Sir/Madam In order to be able to finalise this case would you please attend to the following. Evidence of Polio vaccination On 5 May 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director General declared the recent international spread of wild type polio virus to be a ‘public health emergency of international concern’ under the International Health Regulations (IHR). Ten countries, listed below, have been identified as having suffered recent outbreaks of Polio. Applicants who have spent 28 days or longer in any of the 10 countries listed below on or after 5 May 2014 are required to provide their current certificate of vaccination. As you are an applicant who has spent 28 days or longer in of these countries on or after 5 May 2014, you are requested to provide your current certificate of vaccination. Please note that failure to provide this certificate may result in unnecessary delays to the processing of your visa application. Countries: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Iraq, Israel, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria Further information is available from www.immi.gov.au/allforms/health-requirements/threats-public-health.htm Please submit the required certificate within 28 days of receiving this request. As this is an email request you will be deemed to have received the request today. Regards"
Pumpkin
So you need to reply saying that you have not been to any of those countries if that is the case.
redindian
So you need to reply saying that you have not been to any of those countries if that is the case. I have already replied that I have never been any of those countries but still no feedback from CO. Actually I am little bit frustrated for the lengthy procedure. rammygirl
Geography isn't a strong point with some COs. They probably think Bangladesh is in Pakistan. having said that haven't you had Polio innocculation anyway, I would have thought it would be the norm. I am collecting my Vaccination certificate. Though Polio Vaccination is given to me but I have lost the certificate. I think govt. hospital would eagerly provide me the certificate as Bangladesh is a Polio Free country declared by WHO.
Quinkla
Geography isn't a strong point with some COs. They probably think Bangladesh is in Pakistan. The Australian Government does seem to think it is in the 1950s at the moment.
