I love Webbers.

Not sure about the full size with all the bells and whistles, we've only ever needed/wanted the smaller ones and currently have one that uses charcoal. Been very happy with it. The larger one I had lasted years and many moves.

We have one and it is fab, would never have anything else. It is used for general bbq'ing, roasts (meat and vegetables), pizzas, and anything else we think of at the time. Also as ours is only the smallest one it is thrown in the car and used for camping as well.

Very easy to clean and ideal for joints of meat. At Christmas we cooked a turkey big enough for 8 people on ours so it is bigger than it looks, however, there was no room for the vegetables at the same time. If you need to regularly cook for 4 or more you might want to consider the next size up, but for 2-3 the smallest is ideal.

Was thinking about the next size up. Handy for when friends pop round but its mostly just the two of us.

We've got the Q220, it's worth paying the extra $10 for the lid thermometer and electronic lighter....but they don't sell these everywhere, check the postcode checker on their website.

The smaller one gets a little hotter but probably isn't big enough if you have lots of visitors, or if you want to do a big roast with lots of potatoes, veggies etc..

I read on a bbq forum that the smallest one won't do an X-large chicken because it will touch the lid when closed, so if you want to do turkeys on it then go for the 200 series, loads of space.

We love ours, use it about 4 times a week and it's replaced the oven.

Heats up fast, cooks very fast and very differently to a conventional barbie, the lid stays down and there's no need to constantly flip burgers. 3 mins one side, turn, 3 mins other side, finished, with all the striped burn marks.

It's all about preserving the heat inside and you're really cooking by stopwatch....but it's reliable. Some people don't like that, but if you're busy and don't want to mess about lighting coal every night after work, it's a godsend.

For roasting, drop the temperature to about 210C and a decent joint of rump beef takes about 40mins; it's all about keeping the lid down and letting the air flow round by convection.

Being a gas grill, it's not really a "smoker"...but you can wrap damp wood chips in foil and drop this on the grill at the back. You get decent smoke for a roast but because you're cooking a lot faster, it doesn't get as long to really flavour the food as a proper low heat smoker would over a few hours.

If you're bbqing at high heat, you wouldn't bother with smoke at all.

It's worth getting the genuine Weber brush and the roasting trivet, everything else you can get from Bunnings or somewhere else, including a wireless meat thermometer. They're brilliant things, you don't want to keep raising the lid because the heat escapes, so you you stick the probe into the meat before cooking then shut the kid. The internal meat temperature gets broadcast to the little receiver so you know when it's cooked.
