hi sarah

thought i'd just say hello, i am a theatre nurse also just starting the research of moving to brisbane have you got an agent? and have you got sponsership?. Where are you going to work? loads of questions to ask. I fancy working at the Mater hospitalhave you heard of it?

regards Julie Jxxx

hi there, got our visa yesterday without even hearing off case officer so i'm well on cloud nine. didn't use an agent, and have just emailed or phoned up loads of hospitals or agencies to put feelers out. all are very interested - offering phone interviews etc, but want to look round first so not arranging job from this end. want to get there, enjoy the sun, see where we wanna live, how far i'd have to travel etc. and try to negotiate the best pay and hours (no weekends! )

ask away if ya wanna know anything else. we're looking at moving to redcliffe area.

Hi

Im moving to brisbane in 10 weeks to work at PAH as an adult nurse. We applied for visa in nov and got them through last week. I would advise just doing the process yourselves as I have found it easy enough (if I can anyone can). QNC reg is not to bad either, I just got everything certified by a solicitor.

Hi,

please could someone give me some advice?

I am currently in my second year of nurse training in the UK. I would like to emigrate to Australia when i qualify.

Do you know if they accept newly qualified nurses? I have experience as a health care assistant whilst undertaking my training.

Also once qualified i will have an advanced diploma in adult nursing, is this acceptable or does it have to be a degree?

Finally does anyone have any ideas which visa i would have to apply for? Would i have to wait to be qualified before i can apply?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Any advice would be great xx:unsure:

Hi the hospital that i work at in Perth take newly qualified nurses from the uk. They take you on an 18 month rotational post, 6 months in a different speciality at a time. If you want details on who to contact feel free to pm me.

Hi Leanne

I think they like you to have 2 years experience but I would still apply earlier because the process takes so long you would probably be qualified 2 years by the time your application was accepted. It doesn't matter if you have a degree or not. Good luck

Hi hoppy,

I'm a nurse specialist in Early pregnancy, which covers gynae. I don't know anything about jobs in Adelaide or Sunshine Coast but I'm very interested in finding out, as Adelaide is where we are looking to go!

Hey i'm feeling very frustrated today still waiting on transcript coming back from university, it's been months!!

had my visa completed on line ready to send when skills assessment back and its been lost!

been trying to figure out whats best to sell my house in the uk and rent whilst awaiting house in brisbane to be built or to rent out my house in uk?

Does anyone know if you can get a mortgage if you are only working agency? i don't want to get a job until we have moved so i can decide which hospital/ area i want to work in.

i feel like we are never going to make it at the minute, feel like i need to win the lottery to pay for everything!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there Mags! I'm Sharron, already over here in Adelaide, since Dec '05, as a Community Mental Health Nurse. Married to Andy and we've produced 3 small people- Lottie, 8 and twins, 7- George & Lewis. Came out on a 457, currently awaiting the transition to PR.....

Hi Sharron,

I am at the very beginning of the process! I have been offered a job at the RAH (A&E) and my nurse registration application has just arrived at the NBSA. I am coming out on a 457 visa(hopefully) House is on the market, and hubby and kids (8, 10, 12) are raring to go! Process started in March so hoping to be out there by the end of the year! fingers crossed!

Any pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated!!

Hi Skimbles

I'm in the early stages of move to Adelaide have been offered a surgical post at the QEH, just sent all paper work off to NBSA, hoping to go on a 457 visa too. Just tarting the house up at the moment ready to put on the market at the end of May. Then out to Adelaide early next year.

Good luck with the process.

Hi there - have just registered on here - after 'browing' for a while!!!

I am thinking seriously with regards to coming out to Oz (?Tasmania) in the near future, so am sure will find this thread interesting reading - great idea having one for nurses.

I currently co-habit with my boy (man)-friend and two children aged 10 & 11, definitely think that the UK is taking a nose-dive and Oz should help in securing a future worth having for us and the kids.

I do have in-laws (well out-laws actually) in Melbourne they have full residency status now.

Looking forward to 'talking'

Hi, my name is Claire, and i am new to this forum and have just found this great nurses thread .

We as a family are looking to move to aus for a better quality of family life, and i am wondering about the first step for me regarding all the immigration process, various visas and job opportunities. I am so confused about it all (not difficult for me!!!) and was wondering if anyone out there could give me some step by step advice on how i need to go about everything.

I qualified in 93, and have worked in surgical units, paediatrics, and my most recent position was as a school nurse. I have had a break for 18 months, but have started applying for some jobs here for the time being-got an interview tomorrow infact-aaargh!!! I was wondering if this would be a problem, and hold me back?

By doing lots of research, and getting myself more and more confused, i think? that the 175 would be the best visa to try and get-is this right, but i don't know if i would be eligible??

I am sorry to ask all these daft questions-there is so much to think about isn't there-the house is currently on the market, and we all know what the housing market is currently like here in the uk!!.

We are looking at all the different areas in aus, and that is very difficult to choose an area to concentrate on isn't it when you have never visited before. Then there are the kids!! (11, 9 and 5) and school etc etc etc. They are all happy, and in really great schools here. My middle daughter struggles at school, and does need extra help and support-which is obviously a concern for us-all we want is for her to be happy, that is so important to us-do you think she would be ok within a school in aus as that is one thing i think is very difficult to know about unless you already have experience of what the education system is like?

So sorry about all this gobbdly-gook!! Just hope it makes some sense!!

Best wishes to everyone

Hello and welcome to the forum,

We as three families have used thinkingaustralia.com.au to help and guide us through our visa application, all have been a great help and nothing is too much trouble for the agents. Can i say that when you do your free assessment they call you back and start the ball rolling that quick, go and meet them, they do many seminars around the country, check out their website, you wont be disapointed:yes:.

hi claire b

i am sure some one will confirm/deny but i think you may not be eligable for 175/176 if you have been out of working for the past 18 months..i know for the 176 you have to have been working for 12 of the last 24 months and i believe the 175 is the same..

you could go for a 457 employer sponsored as no work requirements for that i think and then apply for PR when you are there

hope this helps

Hi Debbie

Thank you so much for that. Looking at it, thats what i think, but it is all such a mind field eh!! If i want an employer to sponsor me, any ideas how the best way to go about it is?

I've also had some advice about the thinking australia seminars-any idea would it be worth me going to that next weekend regarding job opportunities and sponsorship??

Thank you so much, Claire xx

Hi, we came out on the 457 visa early feb. As we are both over 45 this was the only option. It is working out well as the hospital are now sponsoring us for pr. If i can help in any way feel free to pm me.

We are coming out on a 457 and the RAH said it will sponsor us for PR when we get there. Do you know how much the PR will cost or do the hospital help with the funding?

KR
