I work in mental health in perth and don't know if they have scrub nurses per se, but as they have theatres I'm sure you'll be in demand - crying out for nurse. You'll love WA (I hope) it's a great place

hi just wondering what agent u using i thinking of using an agent on gomatilda

Actually just at stage 1 right now not got agent but cant go it alone Im 50 so have to go on my hubbys sponsorship as I only work part-time at the mo and weve been advised to go on my hubbys job sponsor (hes painter/decorator so also very in demand for all those new houses theyre building for us newbies!) so its all very scary for us right now guna use "Thinking Australia" as an agent for our visa application. This site is great so many people logging on and my questions being answered so quickly Im impressed thanks everyone concerned Jan xx

Hi

We are not using an agent have done it ouselves !

Going for a skilled visa and will apply for jobs once we get a date to go, you have to be registered with Queensland Nursing council to apply.

Not heard of mater hospital. Have you looked on Nursing: Queensland Health: WorkForUs site there are alot of jobs advertised there. Or you could target Hospitals direct.

Queensland Nursing Council are coming to Uk to interview London/glasgow/birminham in May-June details in RCN bulletin, you can send expression of interest and CV on line to above website.

Nursing agencies may also sponsor you ? I want part time so I don't think they will be interested in me .

Good Luck

Hi here in WA the $67,000 - $71,000 would be for a clinical nurse specialist (managers role), I'm a Clinical Nurse level 2.4 (the highest level 2) and that's just over $65,000.

They're pretty good about hours - here they work it out per fortnight - I'm going to be working .8 in a couple of weeks which is 4 days a week, some people work .5 which works out 3 days one week and 2 another.

Hi I'm Louise (Lou),

I've really enjoyed reading all the different threads and experiences and also think the nurses forum is a brill idea!

Our little family unit consists of me, my Hubby Tony, my 12yr old daughter Daisie and Maddie the dog, oh! and the snake Cornflake but of course he won't be coming.

I've just sent my application to the ANMC and are looking to go to Adelaide.

I've been in nursing and midwifery for 15yrs, and am currently working in early pregnancy as a specialist nurse. The one thing I am a little anxious about is the possible change of specialist area. It's probably an age thing! lol

Does that make sense? I am more than happy to nurse in other specialities it's just that we all like our comfort zones. I suppose if we've made the decision to go to the other side of the world it shouldn't be that daunting should it?

If any one can give me any info on hospitals, clinics etc in Adelaide for work and area's to live that would be really helpful.

Thanks, I look forward to some interesting banter.

Hi Lou

They always seem to be advertising for midwifes so you will be at an advantage with your specialist experience

Best Wishes

Hi Julie

Sorry don't know venue or dates as it was not in the advert but if you contact the website with your CV/QNC I'm sure they will let you know. If I find out anything else will post it on here.

Good Luck

Evening all!! If you come over to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa to work as nurses, do we have to go through the skills assessment thing to get our registration? Just trying to work out how much it's going to cost because my girlfriend's getting cold feet about the whole move!! We are aiming to move to Brisbane in January 09.

Any help would be magic.

Cheers

Hi Lisa

If you had a skills test from ANMC then they can forward your details to the QNC if you contact them and ask them too.

Yeah it is mind blowing ....but will be worth it in the end

Besta wishes

Continue with the nursing thread, do not stop. There most be more nurses out there. It is a great to hear new nurses. Continue nurses or else the nursing thread will on the bottom :notworthy:soon. Hope to hear from new nurses soon :jiggy:

Hi Im a nurse RN Adult and RN Child working in Coffs harbour, I came out on a PR spouse visa in Oct 07. Love it here, but took a while to get used to drug names and the fact that RN's are called sisters. I keep looking behind me when someone calls me sister Dixon lol Cant believe the drugs are prescribed using their trade names, getting there now though and always have the mimhs near by. Just a point I seem to be having probs with is in Australia they need my total hours worked since qualifying so they can work out salary. I qualified in 2000 and have worked full time part time and also bank work (not altogether, Im not that keen) and all my trust provided was the total years worked. I now have to complete a statement saying I have tried every poss. way to get correct info and apparently I do a sort of self dec. Has anyone else had to do this. Also I have allowed my reg. in UK to expire as reg. here (NSW) but in UK was reg. adult and reg. child nurse over here its just one reg. What would happen if I wanted to return to UK and practise as nurse, I mean Im not planning on it but would it still be the case I could apply for both regs. again. I spent a year full time at uni for the extra qualification and dont want to loose it. Another thing (sorry) but I enquired about mental health nursing in oz re. training and the Mental health nurse guy said as I did project 2000 and completed a module in mental health that I could apply for a mental health job, that cant be right can it!! Anyway here's to all the nurses UK and OZ and good luck with all applications :jiggy:Gilly

Alot of the nurses here in oz do a comprehensive training now and can apply for mental health jobs - it doesn't seem right to me as a mental health nurse myself (I also think it can be downright dangerous in some situations). I think that's why they're pleased to get specialised mental health nurses.
