whoiam
Hi guys, I need a king size or larger bed and there is a sale near me now. OH is against buying furniture but I'm not too sure. Any idea how much a good quality bed in solid wood costs in OZ??? I have trawled a few websites but they dont put the prices on in most. Would love to hear from those who have made the purchase or looked into it there? Also is the quality similar or is UK stuff better? Guest littlesarah
We paid $1600 for a queen (5') bed frame + two (largish) bedsides. We already had the mattress, so it would've been a bit more if we'd had to get that. It's all solid timber, so didn't seem like a bad deal to us. I'm sure we could've found something cheaper, but we waited so long to set up house properly while getting sorted to come out here, we've pretty much just saved up and bought things we really like (they'll all have to last us now!). tisme
One advantage of buying in Oz is you will have your bed as soon as you buy one rather than having to wait for your belongings to arrive.

As Little Sarah said if I can get a good bed for $1500 that should be ok. Over here there I spotted a nice dark wood sleigh bed that sells at around 1300 pounds going for £857. Would love to buy it but if I can find similar there there is no point in shipping it over.
JoandJon
Check out Ebay to get a good idea - hubby and I bought a 2nd hand suite (bed, bedside tables, big chest of drawers and a mirror) for ~$700 Looking for other sites for you .... Personally I'd wait and get one over here - they really have some stunning furniture EDIT: If you need a postcode use ours 3805 Try - http://www.freedom.com.au/furniture/bedroom/beds/ http://www.snooze.com.au http://www.fortywinks.com.au Edited May 12, 2012 by JoandJon
