  1. I wouldn't know if many are earning that kind of money Rallyman. I was simply answering Rammygirl's assertion that people have massive mortgages, so I was (I hope) logically using my little knowledge of mortgages to "reverse engineer" someones annual wage in order to compare it to the table at the top of the thread.... Its always difficult to estimate someones wages depending on their title. my official title/desription is Mental Health Nurse.... If you want to be more specific, it is band 6 mental health nurse. but if you compare what that title/despriciotn should be getting paid for last tax year (£26,500-£36,500), you'd be confused as to why my actual income was waaaaaaaaay over that in the same tax year. So I can fully appreciate the example of the "millionaire" anesthetist in Sydney.?
  2. less deposit 10-15% of a million and costs?...call it 800,000...divide that by the worst muiltpier (which doesnt make sense to me as why would someone with a poor credit record be given anything upwards of 750000...) and that gives about: 200000 total annual income for joint applicants or 266000 per annum for an individual surely scenario 2 still reflects a high wage, relative to this discussion wouldn't you agree?
  3. beautiful creatures!.. lovely pictures Kev.
  4. I haven't seen your registration (for some reason I am assuming you're a nurse)... [EDIT] -- removed nursing costs ....??facepalm. A 189 visa works out just over £4200 plus other associated costs eg english test if needed for points I've also been keeping an eye out for family of four tickets (though my two are younger than yours, I'd be buying 4 seats instead of 3 as i did last time simply to have extra pace as my little on wont fit in bassinet anymore...) even at that.. the cheapest tickets (using the "fly on a Tuesday/Wednesday with up to 2 stops" rule) I can get on airlines REALLY worth flying on for that long journey, i found November tickets at £1400 with Etihad and yes the housing thing... of the three estate agents we spoke to, they said I'd only get a house with a letter from an employer (plus supporting contract) to be eligible in the normal deposit plus 1st month rent rule... otherwise, the cheapest one wanted 6 months rent up front plus deposit
  5. Thanks so much Amber.. Ill check my messges ?
  6. been reading around... am I correct in thinking BAND 8/Matron - unclear BAND 7/Manager - RN4/NUM BAND 6/DepManager - RN3/ANUM BAND 5/Staff - RN2/Staff this is for inpatient settings??? I'm afraid I don't know the "old money" grades
  7. if he says the house are $1m plus... then you can divide the house price by a factor ranging from 3.0-3.75 or so for individual mortgage or 4.0-4.75 or so for joint mortgage that gives you annual salary... I think[emoji6]
  8. This has been a such a confusing episode for me. I am a relatively "new" nurse... coming up on 3 years experience. worked in wards for the first 20months...in that time I realised a wider way of raising my Oz money was to do my overtime through agency work and not bank work, then got a band 6 community post and My agency acknowledged this and started offering me Band 6 work in neighbouring Trusts as shifts. Within 6 months my CV had circulated enough to be asked for an interview for a locum role with a trial period of 3 months after a 1 month training period. I've been in this post for 7 months now. (Agency Band 6 post) I also have a mentorship qualification at level 7 as I was considering starting my MSc and concluding before moving to Oz. I ended up parking this plans. when I look at Melbourne jobs... I had told myself I wouldn't mind starting off again as their Band 5 equivalent... which I take to be RPN2? when I look at job descriptions though, it would appear even some of my Band 5 responsibilities fall under RPN3. when I've looked at what I'm currently doing now, some similar roles are RPN4 (responsibilities wise, autonomy etc) I have told myself not to go for RPN4 posts is it worth giving the RPN3 Posts a shot? even without RPN2 experience in Oz?
  9. well said..., I get you now!! where was PIO when I first considered Oz 4 years ago? ?
  10. I can offer a rebuttal I am an agency Band 6 nurse (considered "lots of money" ?in UK circles)...due to the niche job I do [I'm the only one doing it in an area as large as (if not larger than) Wales] I have taken my job description...which is quite niche and compared it to projects trying to copy it in Australia... the yearly wage in Victoria works out at about 1 and half times as much as my agency yearly wage in UK...(that's almost 2.5 to 2.75 times as much as what the role would pay directly from NHS to me)...working regular 40 hour weeks (I work 50 hours a week at present). I would also be getting a bump of about 4%-7.5% on top of my wage amongst maaaany other enhancements for postgraduate study. Housing... easier to access though the houses are more expensive.... ultimately .. you can use tools such as NUMBEO to compare cost of living comparing you present town to one you would like to live in...
  11. nurses can move as soon as they qualify to register...its a case of the nurses experience and willingness of employers to take you on... I'm sure your actual nursing experience would count more than thr "academic/visa/degree" experience when it came to interviews for jobs and actual work. besides... diploma nurses can still use the New Zealand Workaround last time I heard.... so you do have options
  12. just to offer a slightly different view. I was in Melbourne fro a few weeks until two weeks ago. I was driving around and the only episodes of frustrated drivers I noticed were in the CBD... otherwise I would class driving around Melbourne as somewhat similar to driving on the outskirts of London (cities and towns just outside M25) I spent a lot of time with friends and family who are scattered from Bacchus March, to northern suburds all the way across to Druin...they are all in healthcare and the average message was the same.... Victoria averages out better than the UK... especially for us nurses. I'd say go for it... I wasn't sure and had been dragging my feet with nursing reg, but in the two weeks since I came back home, I have already gathered all my required documentation and sent it off last Friday... I am now that eager to go there... I am comparing present day UK to the experiences being faced by people I trust who have moved in the last 7 years, including a couple who moved earlier this year... none have ever considered moving back
  13. Hi.. I checked for my points here . like Marisa said, it may be worth considering a PR (Permanent Residency Visa) from the outset as you may still need to do it in a few years after sponsorship anyway. It is a bit costly: ANMAC costs (not sure how much as I've not had to do anmac, I wasn't main applicant... AHPRA registration $660 plus whatever your uni charges for transcript, plus NMC £34, plus English test cost of your choice, plus police checks (about $150 per country you have lived as adult) PR Visa AUS$ main applicant about $3600= partner 1800 plus each child about 900. I am aware these figures have gone up. I'm just quoting you what its cost me so far. Flights... also, emigration lawyers if you choose to use them to go over your application process. the good news: PR Visa gives you more rights than most (from what ive found so far..) eg. $20,000 grant from govt towards buying your first property (t&c's apply yada yada)... I hope this helps... it is by no way the only way to do things, neither is this the entire list of everything needed as each persons applications are different
  14. Yeah, am gonna do that... with it being the weekend (at the time I wrote the question), I had figured the great minds at PIO would possibly know an answer... ?... Ill just make plans on the basis of presenting in person within 3 months. thanks all
  15. Thanks everyone.... I was aware of the three months rule... I was just asking for clarity, again, if you look at Q4 wording "IF YOU ARE APPLYING FROM OUTSIDE AUSTRRALIA AND ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE FROM EACH CATEGORY (in Q5), YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO MEET THE MINIMUM IDENTITY REQUIREMENTS" My situations is that I actually CAN provide all three categories of evidence... maybe I'm just reading the form all wrong...or their phrasing is misleading. FACT SHEET on identification says If you have met the minimum identity requirements and have submitted a complete application (all supporting documentation provided and declarations made), your application will be assessed and you will be advised whether you are eligible for registration. Overseas applicants eligible for registration who only provide the minimum identity requirements must present in person at an AHPRA office before registration will be granted. Presentation is to be within the specified timeframe as advised in the notice
  16. Hi. I just sent off my AHPRA application, the police check (which I did for PR189 last year) is not the same as the one required for AHPRA. (I'd actually come here to ask my own question...) Does anyone know if I need to present to AHPRA in person if I've already activated my PR189? Based on my understanding of question 4 and 5 of this years AGOS40 it looks like I don't...since I have all three documents required for question 5
