  2. try LinkedIn. I doubt (though it's possible) you will find help for your specific [and rather complex] situation.
  3. WOW @JetBlast!! thanks a lot!! great to see a visual. of the A380's, when you say its older...would this mean older then the Emirates ones too? coz of the four Emirates ones I've been on, one of them felt quite ancient. [edit] - nevermind...just read the article.. thanks again

    Costs

wow.. great thread. helpful for me too... looking at western half of Melbourne
  5. im flying economy, dont mind Manchester or Heathrow depending on the right combination of seats etc now that's a thought!! had not thought of the baggage... especially with the potential for increased emigration baggage allowance
  6. have stopped over in both... was just looking at why people seem to think its expensive when its quite clearly cheaper (with better review ratings)
  7. yeah,I can imagine, we booked a bassinet for the last trip two months ago. but he was JUST small enough to fit, no way he would fit now. even then, he only spent about 3 hours in each flight in it. What I found was the bassinet seats don't have arm rests that raise up, so in the end we agreed we will go 3 or 4 abreast on the relocation flight. sadly cant afford premium/business flights. three abreast on the Qantas leg of Changi to Melbourne was ok. we lifted armrests and both kids actually lay on the seat with one parent each catering for one head. and feet going across each other. but if we find a flight with 4 abreast, may actually take a chance and buy only three and sandwich someone in with us in the hope they will move ASAP at the sign of two kids under 4?...just kidding, we'll just buy all four seats
  8. I feel for you in your difficulties, however I have to disagree with most of what you have said, not just in this quote. But I'll only deal with these two statements. in summary, I'm no millionaire in the UK, but studying my situation here and comparing the same jobs, housing and social elements, Australia is a MUUUUUCH better bet....even in Australia, I am nowhere near being millionaire within the next 3 years unless my income source changes... even with the expensive rents, I still have more disposable income I Aus than the UK. granted our life situations are different, but I don't think they are that different that you would put a warning saying "Aus:for millionaires only"
  9. was just about to say this too?
  10. Has anyone else experienced the leak on bulkhead seats on Emirates A380?... I had 5 flights in total on my activation trip. 4 of them were A380's with Emirates. all bulkhead seats had massive leaks from air-con units and the floor was wet. each time I brought it up, the crew played it down like it was a one-off. I'll go check Seat Guru and update with this if it hasn't been done
  11. Hey @JetBlast I start work on the first of December (the 3rd, really as that's a Monday)...but I'd rather arrive there at least 10-14 days before... so mid November time. Manchester to Melbourne 2 adults, a toddler in her own seat and an infant on lap (too big for bassinet...if price is right I may pay for a fourth seat if they have 4 abreast seats (3-4-3) Just saw your comment on rows. I thought they do A380 flights? I've passed through Changi and found it quite good on my last flight. didn't enjoy the change from Emirates to Qantas due o codeshare as the Qantas flight was quite crammed (even more than Emirates, thought we were on bulkhead seats for bassinet)
  12. ah... so they have actively made themselves the cheapest of the four then? that makes sense now. Yeah, am always on there... I've taken about three flights every two years (over the last decade) and have learnt the joys of skyscanner, seatguru, kayak etc etc.
  13. So a couple of times I've come across phrases to the effect... "Singapore Airlines, but they're not cheap" or words to that effect. So far the only airlines I have seen cheaper are not worth comparing with Singapore Airlines. From Reviews it looks like Singapore Airlines competes with the middle eastern airlines (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar) in quality and outperforms them in some parameters. yet from these four, its consistently the cheapest. Maybe I'm missing something... I've not bothered with the likes of China Southern etc...they are definitely cheaper, but their reviews are concerning. British Airways, Virgin Aus, Qantas (I'm aware of codeshare) and others of that sort seem to be more expensive than the above four... any ideas? looking for tickets for two adults, toddler and infant.
  14. @Jupiter...you need an agent. its very clear from all your posts that you need one...
  15. dont lose hope guys... it'll come good soon from your friendly neighbour near Warrington
  16. Care for the opinion of a non-native speaker? If I were to take the equivalent of IELTS for my native language, I would probably fail that. However, given that English was not my native language, I had to work harder at learning the rules of the language. A lot of reading and comprehension exercises were the norm where I learnt at primary stage. By the time I was at high school age, we were looking further than just the rules but at (assumed) nuances by way of a seperate subject in high school, English Literature. So along with Maths, Biology, Technical Graphics, Physics with Chemistry, History, Geography and Accounting, we also had English Language as a seperate subject to English Literature. By the time I had left the two non-english countries and moved to California to complete the last two years of high school, I was advised to join the Advanced English class which combined the previous two subjects as one and I found that class to be a walk in the park. What I find when I compare my grasp of the English language with my peers in my industry is that I respect it's rules and apply them diligently as that comes easier to me. I find myself annoyed when working through official documentation (that could easily end up in a coroner's court,) full of grammatical errors and spelling errors, poor punctuation, lack of (or unnecessary) capitalisation and my biggest pet peeve, the use of an apostrophe before the "s" when writing plurals (I promise I'm not a grammar Nazi) etc I also learnt early in life (though not early enough in my opinion) that a test/exam has to be taken seriously and as such I study before each exam that has a profound impact on my future... I'm so sad I even study before interviews??? The point I am laying the foundation for is this; I believe native speakers take the IELTS for granted and assume that their vernacular or colloquial language is more than sufficient for an exam... it isn't. I could very well be wrong about this too and i dont mind being wrong, its a learning opportunity. If a native English speaker was to learn my native language and use it for over 30 years as I have done, I would bet my last dollar they would outperform me in that language! how do I know? I have just explained above with English (and I scored 9, 8.5, 8 and 7.5 IELTS) And I consistently outscored my peers in another African language which isn't my native tongue all through my time in Zimababwe. I am absolutely useless when it comes to the academics of my native language. But I'm glad to have mastered several other languages to a respectable level, including English. just note: I am not a genius in any way... I just belive that non-native speaker who works at these exams will always do better than native speakers who don't work at it.
  17. not sure about lately, but my wife got invited within 24hours of submitting EOI. 75points for 189 (could have been 80 with 5 bonus points from my skill, but agent wisely told us not to waste our money). granted within 5months. BA Accounting, PGCE- Secondary Maths, AAT Dip, plus experience, all 9's IELTS and 30yrs old. according to our agent back then, he figured points were gonna be key, hence he suggested we go with the teacher 75[80bonus] points and not the nurse (me) 70[75bonus]

    Am i mad!?

the last post I made, was to clarify my position on all the direct comments about MY move to Australia. yet they have been edited and some deleted. oh well. i guess thats how it is here. if you ask for my (very balanced opinion) my comment that was deleted was no worse than this from Simmo. Anyway... let's stay on topic. I'll reiterate a few things that have been lost through all this. I have lived in many countries... developed and non developed I'm not British... I love England, bu have never ever felt home here even though I've lived more than half my life here... I've had a bit of a mini-obsession with Oz since I could first read and comprehend Readers digest (I must have been 8-10yrs old or so)... I've been even more Oz obsessed the last ten years and actively worked on getting myself ready for a 189. applied last year, granted last year, activated this last Oz winter and absolutely felt at home in my time there. moving in a few weeks time. can't wait:) disclaimer: Not all stories are like mine bla bla bla ... I think that's what a certain poster is trying to say, by going after my entries on this thread.

    Am i mad!?

where was your common sense when I decided to come to the UK in the first place? just because YOU (I assume) hate[d] Oz and you love the UK and it works out better for you, that doesn't mean everyone will experience the same. granted, SOME people will feel like you...

    Am i mad!?

I'll start with apologising to you Simmo... because (at least to me) MY feelings have quite clearly touched a nerve of yours.... quite why, I have no idea... now that that's outta the way, don't mind my future posts, I'm gonna wax lyrical all I want and enjoy my life, so don't come back with your comments again, coz your nerves will not be able to handle all my joy??????????
  21. Hi all. any rough ideas how long AHPRA reg. is taking from submission of all docs to reg. in principle?
