  1. definately wasn't meant to be.... Just to be clear; English isn't my first language either...it's my third. possibly less thought out as I was typing it in the early hours of the morning after a night of packing. ultimately, I was simply advising the OP that they have asked for help, yet they are batting away all comments trying to help. point number 3 can be expanded here as even I cringed when I read it back...??????? 3) find a new partner...or save a heap of money to employ the services of an agent....I doubt the person you are concerned with about the partner visa will get one when the time comes for their visa New partner comment is based on the assumption that there irksome type of background checks done on the applicant and their sponsor... therefore, I'm advising JayNair that he needs to save up a lot of money for an agent worth their weight in gold to manoeuvre the potentially difficult application when the question of character (particularly the sponsors character) is asked.... what I meant by "I doubt they'll get one" could be better put as "I doubt if you insist on leaving without following the advice given (liaise with State, try for 6 months) and live elsewhere then make a sponsorship bid, your character may possibly hinder your partner from obtaining a visa" the last sentence were distasteful attempts at sarcasm/humour... but hey-ho. I won't delete it to make myself look good, I'm flawed and I erred and it should remain there for all to see how not to act/write in a public forum. I'm sorry JayNair, or anyone reading if you found it offensive. the underlying genuine heartfelt advice still stands though; don't ask for advice and then disregard the people taking their time to advise you ..and... no matter which God you proclaim, I'm yet to be told of one who approves of immoral behaviour ...and... your actions NOW, affect others in the future, hence don't be selfish and soil it for everyone else trying to get to Oz. bold typeface is only for summarising/highlighting, not for pushing some aggressive notion?

    very exciting times indeed!!!
  3. I'm so glad you told.me this... but I'm angry... I have to open up a box which I thought was done and dusted..not your fault though ?????
  4. So I was just reading the positive stories again whilst taking a break from packing th e50 million boxes in the lounge in readiness for the movecube... we have no lounge anymore...I digress.. anyone with any funny stories to tell about this whole emigration thing? again, same rules apply as in @The Pom Queen's thread...No V's arguments here... just some laughs, which may actually save some embarrassment for some. I'll start.. The whole "How Ya Going?" thing caught me off guard... I thought I was ready for Oz slang... so the morning of our long drive to QLD from VIC, I pull up in the petrol station at about 3am and I'm asked, how ya going? ...I freaked out thinking, that's a strange/abrupt way to ask...it was clear I was on a road trip... the kids all cosy in car seats...and my OH reclined in front seat...so I just said "I think we're gonna take the Hume to Sydney" ...trying to be all cool...telling myself...yeah...I belong here... yeah, nah, yeah, no worries...yeah... no dramas... three interactions with locals later, with the car nowhere in sight, I realised, they are not asking about my road trip [FACE.meet.PALM]
  5. YOU SEE!?!? PLENTY WISE ONES HERE... I had missed out on the fact that some are indeed ALL OF THE ABOVE...?
  6. 1) I wonder what your "almighty" thinks of your blatant disregard for a moral obligation to abide by an agreement. 2) you asked for help from seniors (I have noted some are senior in age, others are senior by wisdom through experience and others are senior in knowledge, i.e. they live and breathe and possibly feed their families with immigration law) yet you seem to have made up your mind already and want to challenge everyone offering you simple advice e.g. try for 6 months, liaise with the state etc.? my suggestion... 1) Leave the state that gave you the 190...(its clear you will do it anyway) 2) have a chat with your almighty to make sure moral obligations don't become a hindrance towards citizenship, not just for you...but for many others who will come after you from wherever you have applied from...or worse still, anyone else period. 3) find a new partner...or save a heap of money to employ the services of an agent....I doubt the person you are concerned with about the partner visa will get one when the time comes for their visa but don't worry...I'm not a senior by any stretch of the imagination...ignore me...I'm just rambling through...I do that from time to time.?
  7. all I know is I'm lakhing 6,000,000 dollars?... ok...I'll go home now... I've had enough to drink

how have you and your family settled in @ABG? am moving in the next 7 weeks to VIC too. some of your costs have me freaked out!?? but still the best decision I've made I believe.?
  9. Mine took 1 week. My wife's took 5 weeks. Applied online within 2 minutes of each other on July.
  10. also registration process for teachers is significantly cheaper than nurses so that way we could stagger the registration as we ended up doing. So I've only just finished registration as a nurse ...after activating the visa...and I'm currently at about £980 so far for all the required elements to register...anxiously awaiting registration. flight is in 8 weeks time work starts in 10 weeks
  11. 189 (anywhere) (OH)Secondary Maths Teacher 80(85) points (me) Nurse 75(80) points so our agent wisely advised us to go with the teacher at 80 points and not bother trying to get 5 bonus points. whereas if we went with the nurse, we may have needed the 5 bonus points to get to 80 for a quick response
  12. anywhere really... will be working at Thomas Embling... so anywhere within a 40minute drive will be fine to start... I'm likely going to move to the new Ravenhall hospital when that opens next year.. so am hoping to familiarise myself with the western side of Melbourne
  13. SC Hospital had me confused a bit... I thought I'd missed the hospital entrance and walked into a shopping centre!! it was beautiful! very nearly changed my mind from Melbourne to SC based on that...and a few other things
  14. I may be wrong... but I was under the assumption that EOI to nomination is based on a few factors... how many points you have how many other people have more points than you in the same skillset backlog??????? Our EOI was submitted at midnight UK time by our agent... he rang us a day later to say we had been nominated.
  15. cheers Toots... any good caravan parks in Melbourne?
  16. Just a sidenote Jupiter... How do you keep track of all these very similar topics that you start?
  17. any other short term rental suggestions besides Airbnb?
  18. I flew Emirates three legs Man-Dubai-Changi-Melbourne left manchester around 8pm...so kids were tired anyway...arrived around midday, afternoon in Dubai and they were still shattered... took next flight Dubai to Changi and they were awake most of that flight so I took turns with OH to nap and entertain them. Changi-Melbourne was an overnighter they were well and truly shattered by then...so we're we... so we all slept. the trick (I honestly dindnt plan it) is to befriend your host(ess)... show them your cute kids and they will then make efforts to serve the kids the food according to their sleep/wake time as opposed to just serving them at serving time... some were even nice enough to stagger my meal and my OH meal so that we could feed the kids without a meal hanging about on the lap tray
  19. are you sure youre not a clone of me? I'm also traveling with 3and half year old and a 1 and half year old. the Emriates A380 was quite quiet... so if the saying is true that the A350 is quieter... then you should be ok... we did a return Manchester to Melbour e trip this past summer with the kids. the key is to take turns sleeping.
  20. if you are using the word "impossible" for LinkedIn... then you have left yourself no words for describing what you are trying to do here ie solicitng employment.
  21. Thanks for your advice JetBlast. I've booked the 11am Manchester Melbourne flight via Changi. A350 MAN-SIN A380 SIN-MEL
  22. sorry, I should have been more specific make a linked in profile, and start actively targeting people in the same I did try as you, who work in the specific town/city you want to go to. then be bold and professional and ask them if their organisation is willing to sponsor you... if they like what they see, they'll do it. it's harder for someone one This forum to do so as our information is rather anonymized, but LinkedIn does exactly what you are trying to achieve
