  1. Ah right, so i have the qualification for the occupation, and i have the required experience (almost 3 years). I achieved the qualification in May this year. Do you think i should still apply for the 482 with that knowledge in mind @Raul Senise? Really appreciate your replies. The company sponsoring me seem to have no problems with this, i think i'm having a last minute panic! So basically, should my 2 year's experience have come after i achieved my qualification, or should i be ok with the experience and the qualification, irrespective of when i achieved my qualification.
  2. Thank you for your replies guys, very helpful! I appreciate the "not one size fits all" analogy, however i am now going to ask a question that @Raul Senise you may hit me with that reply once again! The 2 year's work experience required for "Youth Worker" or maybe this may be a generic rule - is it post qualification or is it a moot point due to being nominated by an accredited sponsor. Looks like my employer doesn't do a character reference so i think we'll need ACPRO Police checks. Only countries i've visited in the last 10 years are Aus and England so i should be fine for medicals but my wife has been to India and surrounding places so i'll have to check...
  3. That's what somebody sent me, it says payslip so could be a type-o in either direction! Frustratingly i have payslips going back 2 years and 8 months i'm hoping it's all they want as my job only requires 2 year's experience.
  4. You can find out here. Somebody also helped me out by giving me a list of everything their agent asked for. I am also waiting to hear back after my nomination. Here's the list i was given, to be used as well as the official government checklist. Weird that the person's list is a lot more detailed than the one on the home affairs site: Certified copy’s of passports in colour Birth certificate Driving license Police checks (Acro £45 each) 10 year travel history for both of you listing dates, country and address where you stayed Upto date CV for the person being sponsored including exact dates A signed contract from sponsor A passport size photo of each person 1066 form 956 form Declaration of employment from previous jobs covering the last 3 years, including payslip from each year
  5. Hi all. Just looking for a few other ideas as i've asked elsewhere. My accredited sponsor (who recruit internationally a lot so no hitches on their front) are submitting my nomination over the next few days. They've said for my application they will write the reference for the character requirement (stated as an option on the home affairs website). Medical isn't required for my role. 2 years experience required which i can provide payslips for along with the mandatory references. Passport, driving licence for me and my wife along with marriage certificate. Signed job offer/contract. It's been suggested elsewhere that some people have had to provide history of residency for the previous 10 years along with travel history of 10 years and proof of employment going back further in time. What are other people's experiences of how many documents they've had to provide? I want to front load it all before i submit the application so i'm trying to leave no stone unturned here!
  6. I agree with you both and upon looking on Air bnb it seems we can probably book a month somewhere with no major extra costs. That way we can view places and do things properly. Cheers for the advice!
  7. If possible and if a things i'd like to try and secure a rental almost straight away or before arrival. Thank you very much!
  8. Can anybody explain this a little better? It looks like it would be tough to achieve 100 points from here in the UK before heading to Aus unless you can select multiple types of ID (Passport AND birth certificate) and tenancy agreements and pay slips from your job here are ok? I'm guessing i could attach a copy of my sponsorship contract as proof of income. I just don't really get it and it's not really explained that well any where! Lewis
  9. That's the answer i wanted to hear! Even though the sponsor has been a bit annoying i know that after 6 months we can apply for a 190 and then i won't be tied to them and like you say, won't be tied to northern QL
  10. What would you do; I was offered a job sponsorship under a 482/TSS visa back in April, the company have various locations and it took a while but they nailed down a location and put me in touch with their location managers. Bear in mind this is all while i'm in the UK waiting on news...They then tweaked things three times so despite still wanting to put me in NNSW/South QL i got changed to three different potential locations and three different managers, all of whom were awful at communication. Anyway, the communication was few and far between and then complete radio silence - it was absolutely gutting. Then, after about 6 weeks of silence the person that recruited me called with a massive apology and saying they've had a lot of issues with area managers and visa changes affecting where they can send me and they offered me Adelaide, Townsille or Cairns. The day before they called we went ahead and paid a retainer to a migration agent to start a 489 process for NT as my girlfriend's job is on the list. I've now had another call after emailing to say i preferred Townsville. The call was the company saying they can get the ball rolling with a 482 for Townsville if i want it. SO the dilemma is; 482 in Townsville meaning that in 6 months we can apply for a 190 in QL should her job stay on their 'on shore list' or stick with the 489 for NT and forget the sponsors because of how they've messed me around. I'm really stuck because my heart says sack off the job but my head says it's a way in to the country and a 190 in QL, a 489 in NT means we'd have to live there and we never visited NT and it's clear that it isn't the easiest place to settle and find work.
  11. My fiancee's job is on the supplementary list but with lowered high points so SA now looks an option for us as well as QL...this new financial year in Oz has bought us new options! Happy days indeed.
  12. https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/482-?modal=/visas/supporting/Pages/482/skills-qualifications-employment-background.aspx You can find answers on the above link. The main thing you need is a registered employer to sponsor you.
  13. Sorry i'm not answering the question but asking another - are you now on a bridging visa until you get the 887??
  14. Simple question - Would i pass a skills assessment as a Youth Worker with a Level 3 Diploma - the ACWA site says it needs something equivalent of AQF Level 5 which it is actually really difficult to find anything that gives 100% clarity on how UK qualifications measure up to Australian qualifications. Thanks in advance for anybody's help.

I assume some of that is said with tongue in cheek?! Squirrels aren't quite the same as walking through National Parks in Australia and hearing the sounds and seeing the sights of their wildlife really are they, nothing beats it. Plymouth is an hour and a half from me on a good day and not exactly the kind of city i'm angling at. I'm not talking about night life really, i'm not a night life kind of guy. I'm talking about finding somewhere with decent food and drinks scene and generally more to do than where i've always lived (i've lived in very sleepy villages & towns so it won't take a lot to please me!). I've enjoyed growing up and appreciating the outdoors - beaches, coastline and so on and now i'd like to see some cities. I'm a music lover and we aren't exactly spoilt for choice in the entire South West let alone Cornwall. You can live near cities and National Parks so maybe "i can have my cake and eat it" - make it a Lamingtons please! For example, Coomera is within equal(ish!) distances to Tamborine and Brisbane and Gold Coast Don't worry about the sponsorship - I was able to do all the research needed and ensure i have everything to secure the sponsorship visa. I work in management and have specialist experience in particular areas and i do have a qualification yes.

Just had a look at all the post codes and towns you mentioned, all very helpful. We are selling everything here in the UK and arriving with just the bags we pack. In an ideal world we'll be somewhere furnished at first so we can save our money but that does limit our search. Right now we are looking at Coomera, Pimpama and Southport. We want to live where there is a bit of life, city living if you will as we're in a pretty quiet place in England at the mo. At the same time we want to be close to nature and national parks and/or coastline. We want a little bit of everything really! For me i'm very interested in being within 45 mins of a city as i've always lived in Cornwall in my adult life and it's great for the beach in summer and nature but we've never had a lot in ways of bands and regular city-style fun. My fiancee however is from London and wants the nature and wildlife (which i also want) and is probably less bothered by the city lifestyle as me.

Hi thanks for your reply it really helps. I'm actually working for a care company that have a couple of houses that i'll be based in and they have said for me to look between as far south as Pacific Pines and sort of South Logan like near Tamborine. It's me and my fiancee (will be my wife by the time we move!).

Hi all. I'm being sponsored and likely to have two locations i'll work in and have had Logan as a place advised to live, South East. I've received some pretty mixed feedback on Logan so just wondered if i could get some feedback. Cheers
  19. Was it a job that doesn't require a skills assessment?! What paperwork did you send?
  20. So i can only assume this is good news for me as i am a support worker here in the UK getting over to Aus this October-ish to be sponsored as a Youth worker but i bring with my experience of my current role which is a year as a deputy manager in a supported living home. Fingers crossed.
  21. I am pretty much in the same quandary. I have plenty of experience in my role, once i have experience in Oz through my sponsorship i'll have the points in excess but i just don't have the qualification to pass a skills assessment i don't think (i have a uk Level 3 Diploma and my role requires an Australian Diploma). Though i will try and rectify that while in Australia. What i believe is that if you go through a direct entry stream then from July 1 all roles will need an assessment but TRT generally don't need them but you can be asked to do one if they decide that and there are a few roles specified that do need assessments. Having said all that; i'm not an expert and i may be wrong and just when you start getting your head around it all BOOM they change things!
  22. Thanks Raul, i got a reply today so that was good!
  23. i have 12 years post experience qualification as a chef but none in the last 5 years - would that be a barrier to coming over as a chef?
  24. Hi all. I was recently interviewed for a job with a company offering sponsorship to successful candidates. It seemed to go really well and i felt there were a few hints towards me being successful (these were interviews for multiple jobs of the same role rather than 1 job available). I travelled the length of the UK for the interview and they were really thankful for that and made a point that they will 100% call whether it's successful or not. They said they'd call by Thursday or Friday and i'm pretty certain they said next week which would have been there 17th. I haven't heard from them and i'm hoping i got my weeks mixed up and it's this week as in today but my worry is that the visa changeover on the 18th may be delaying it and putting things in jeopardy. It's not so bad as we can apply for a 489 but we were just kinda hoping to get over on a temporary visa first and experience other parts of the country. Is any body experiencing similar or do any migration agents think the change would delay things as companies go though all the details with a fine toothed comb?
