  1. Yes not only is this leaving the EU this could be the end of the UK. England can not force all countries to leave the EU. So Scotland will leave the Uk and likely NI will follow.
  2. really wanting to get my Pension out of the UK before we leave the EU. Any update appriciated.
  3. Same boat have lost thousands over night as my house sale is in the process of going through. Hope it recovers, I really do. Especially for my pension that I cannot take with me.
  4. Indeed very divided country.
  5. Anyone can vote which ever way they want. I am just stating a fact.
  6. The older generation have voted for a future the younger don't want.
  7. Hi I was hoping someone could help me. I have been working freelance in London for the past 10 years. I have my own Limited company and have an accountant who works out my tax. I am moving to Brisbane in October and my plan was to close down my UK business and start one in Australia. However, I have just had an offer from my current contract, they want to keep me on in Australia working remotely!! BUT he would like to employ me full-time on a Salary. Looking into it I am a little worried I will have to pay Tax in UK and Australia if I am on salary. Has anyone had similar experiences? Thanks
  8. Hello sorry I missed this. Yes we are ready to leave the Uk early October. The visit took under 5 months to come through. Very fast was not expecting it, the average on here seems to be 7 and a half months
  9. Thanks Marsia. I have heard similar things. My cats are 90% indoor cats now and this was part of my decision to take them with me. I have also seen some really good options for cat proofing your back garden in Australia, so they cannot leave a fenced property. http://oscillot.com.au being a really good one
  10. I have started the process and are shipping mine in October. For two cats it works out approximately Vet Bills: £400 need to get rabies 7 months prior to flying Flights £2500. - this does depend on their weight and what box you get - or if you supply your own. I have gone gold with Pet air - you could get cheaper. Quartaine fees £1500 - depending on exchange rate - (could increase dramatically if we leave EU) So all up using pet air gold service for two cats £4400 Its a big decision to make.
  11. Me too with my house in London on the market right now and my pension that I am not allowed to take to Oz. And Out vote would be disastrous to my finances
  12. I feel the same, I have two cats due to fly in a few months and I cry thinking about it. It is so nice to hear stories of people who have done it. all the best x
  13. We stayed in at an Airbnb in Yaroomba- its super close to the beach - has a pool and spa, and is in the middle of the sunshine coast. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/9570985 https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/854266 http://www.airbnb.co.uk/c/carons15?s=8
  14. So thought I should post an update here about our trip to Sunshine coast, Brisbane and Gold coast. We flew into to Sunshine coast (via Sydney) Stayed in a lovely AirBnb in Yaroomba. Did day trips to Noosa, Buderim, Mooloolaba. We looked at land and display homes and were surprised in person by the prices. (higher than we thought) The beach is beautiful but sunshine coast is not cheap. We thought we found some affordable land in Buderim, but when we viewed it was on a really steep hill, and needed a lot of clearing, (what we would of saved on land costs we would spend on special builds and land clearing) Sunshine coast barely has a transport system. A few buses here and there, which means going out and not drinking because of driving would be the reality) We decided we love sunshine coast for a holiday, but it was too quiet for us to live. Brisbane - we really wanted to live by a sandy beach, so were not that excited about Brisbane before we arrived. We stayed in Deagon , which had a really great train service (half an hour into the city) We spent time on the south bank and swam in the man made beach, had some lovely meals out and visited the koala sanctuary. We fell in love with Brisbane! Looked at land quiet far north in Burpengary. And felt this could be home. Next we headed south - we stayed near Cleveland (in-between Brisbane and Gold coast) Lots of affordable land out this way, but we found the southern motorway to always be jammed up. The train from Cleveland to Brisbane costs nearly $10 each way - hence why the motorway is always full of traffic (you can get all day parking for $15 in Brisbane so there is no incentive to catch the train) Visited Gold Coast and even in the Autumn we got a 28 degree day! Gold Coast is more happening than sunshine but still don't want to be commuting from Gold coast to Brisbane on that blocked up motorway. Also crime watching the news there seems to always be crime in Gold Coast - nothing like London though! Although Gold Coast seems an option for us We have decided to settle in Brisbane at first.. Can't wait to move in October! lots more photos info form our trip on our blog journeystravelled.com
  15. I have no idea if it is related but we are heading to oz tomorrow for a two week holiday visiting family and working out where we want to move. We had sorted a tourist visa but now looks like will be entering on a 309! Will be moving in October so happy!
  16. I know their is quiet a big Maori and Pacific Islander community in both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You will be fine!
  17. We have not heard a thing and we submitted 5 months ago
  18. Its a lot to organise! A new life is not easy to plan. I found Petair really understanding, just give them an email. Once you have paid the deposit and filled out all the paperwork someone new will email you and keep you in the loop.
  19. Don't worry! Speak to Petair. put TBC in the box in the online form. They need to know 8 weeks before you travel.
  20. How soon are you leaving? I am in the same boat as you, as I have started the process of getting my cats ready, but are still waiting on my husbands Visa. I told them I will let them know the address but we are hoping to leave in October so still a long time away. If you are going soon, best you book a pet friendly AirBnb and give them that address.
  21. Are you using Petair? If you are you can fill it out as TBC on their online system to begin with. You will need to supply the short term address that you are staying at before they book the flights.
