  1. The Australian Government is not stopping people under 55 taking their pension. That is the whole problem. I don't think I will get another pension after this. I think I would rather put my money into property.
  2. Sorry another question.. on the Uk Government website there is a list of Australia Recognised Pension Schemes. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/list-of-qualifying-recognised-overseas-pension-schemes-qrops/list-of-recognised-overseas-pension-schemes-notifications#australia Are these know longer valid?
  3. I have only just found out about the QROPS issue, and are so upset. As I always knew I would be moving to Australia to live. Do you think it will change? Why don't Australia pension providers create a scheme that would work with QROPS? They would get all the UK pensions? I am seriously thinking of moving my pension to NZ at this stage.
  4. I am so upset, as I was born in New Zealand and moved to Uk in 2004. I got myself a financial advisor and set up a private pension. I never had intentions of retiring in the UK and I made sure my pension could be taken with me when I left. Now as we wait for Visa's I have discovered I cannot take my pension to Australia with me. I cannot transfer it for another 17 years! There is quiet a sum of money there and I would like to keep it close. (Also while the exchange rate is good it makes sense to transfer it) It seems completely unfair the Uk Government can tell me what I can and cannot do with my money. I don't want to spend it! I just want to keep saving in the country I intend to retire. Please sign my petition and maybe the government will help make it fairer. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/121268/sponsors/PkYIWzLBz5qI51gaWoQs Thank you
  5. I wish I had of transfered my money years ago. SO so so angry about this. I am looking at transferring my pension to New Zealand instead.
  6. I know you used to be able to, but I know many things have changed with quarantine over the last year. Can you still visit?
  7. We have already set up our Australian bank account and have been sending money using transfer wise.
  8. I also have been looking into this as moving about the same time. I got 3 quotes today. PSS, Anglo Pacific and one called Move Corp. PSS & Anglo Seemed similar in price, Move Corp a lot cheap, However, a google search showed some terrible reviews for Move corp, of lost belongings etc. PSS seem to have the most happy customers. Would love to hear others actual experiences.
  9. Thanks Pom Queen, that has put my mind a bit to rest!
  10. Thanks Azh! look forward to hearing all about it. where are you now?
  11. I am having a tough time thinking about my cats being treated as cargo. Is there any options to travel with your pet? I know that come countries have boats that allow pets. but cant find anything for uk to oz.
  12. I was born In New Zealand! Have been in the Uk 12 years now. Cultrually Australia and New Zealand are very similar, but that is about where the similaries end. New Zealand does get cold in winter,( never have snow on the ground only up on the mountains) But nice in summer, still lots of great beaches. Some people love New Zealands rustic, old fashioned feel. I think a lot depends on your job, wages tend to be lower than oz, and house prices are very high in Auckland. Auckland also has very limited public transport, and suffers from bad traffic jams. If you love friendly people and outdoor activities, you may really like it.
  13. Congratulations!! was hoping to hear from you soon! So happy! how long did it take?
  14. It wasn't hard, but would not say easy.. Confusing, is how I would describe it. So many different forms to fill out and it felt like we were giving the same info over and over. Sponsor application 40sp 1221 form 80 form 2x 888 forms, etc Not really too many clear guidelines on what to do, still worried we missed something!
  15. We have been watching way too much Wanted down under lately! We will visit the areas lower Sunshine, Places like Ningi, Beerurrum and Beachmere, seem affordable and half way between both Brisbane and Mooloolaba. But it is hard to know if it is too isolated for us.
  16. What knowone is saying is if they are using a Migration Specialist - or if they are going direct through the Australian Embassy. And if they are doing postal or online application. I am sure it will be different for all the options.
  17. Hi Keith & Linda, thank you for your reply, I understand how your Daughter feels With the Chef Trade. Its the same in the UK, long long hours and low pay. It is difficult to know where you should go with your career, or even leave it for a better quality of life. I would love to hear from anyone who is a Freelance graphic or Web designer. Its a big decision to decide to live away from a city, and hope to find work from home, or will I end up commuting into Brisbane everyday?
  18. We are heading over for 10 days in April, to make a decesion where we will move to, Sunshine coast, Brisbane or Gold coast. My husband is a chef and I am a web designer, (UX UI) so thinking would like a life where I could work from home, and well he can work anywhere, we think. Has anyone else here moved to lower Queensland, how works in either of our industries? Love to hear where and how you work?
  19. Very positive to read Many people are getting Visa's in about 7 months! We nearly had heart failure, when we were told 9-14 months processing time. We submitted on 1st of December, and have so much to organise, Selling the house and getting the cats read for travel, really unsure if we should put the house on the market before my husbands visa is granted?
