  1. So do not arrive at immigration on a tourist visa with hardcopy CV, job references, education certificates or correspondance from prospective employers given as said if subject to a detailed inspection any of these could be grounds for cancelling the tourist visa and worst case an exclusion.
  2. its not very clear and depends on the legal standing re parental responsibilty as perhttps://www.gov.uk/permission-take-child-abroad and one parent does agree that could cause problems. See also http://www.sydneymitchell.co.uk/news/legal-implications-taking-children-abroad-if-you-are-separated maybe get advice from citizens advice.

    Tourist Visa

Not a good idea as every time comes in from a tourist visa run will be asked purpose of 'visit' , planned itineray etc. Bit difficult to convince immigration that you are revisting the same place you just left multiple times and worst case could get turned back and issued an exclusion order for a few years.
  4. With such an amount keep an eye on the exchange rate as the dollar has been strengthening against pound in last few months and pound may weaken further as the EU referendum comes up so less dollars for your pounds.
  5. And a lot of cash to tie up when a investor visa is a temporary visa (405) and no real route to perm residence
  6. Would be useful here if the OP asks current agent for the visa number they are proposing. As other posters have said sounds like a 405 given the high bond number and income requirements being quoted, a temporary visa valid 4 years which can be renewed but does not lead to citizenship. https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/405- Without that info we are all speculating.
  7. Which actual visa is the agent recommending here not the contributory parent visa obviously given those numbers ? The retirement visa ?
  8. It is not an easy process and can take some time and plenty of form filling much the same as settling in any country. The financial limits are under review I believe but are there to ensure new settlers to UK can to a degree support themselves and not rely too much on state support. If moving back to UK cannot rely on latter I believe until 3 months back anyway. Also I read somewhere for example for temporary workers in UK the government was looking to push the min salary up to 35k GBP which is causing a fuss as the NHS is supported to a degree by many non British Citizens who would fall well below this salary range. Have not yet seen similar discussion on spouse visas/settlement but I expect they are thinking about it especially I guess with the current situation in Europe. Just for info here is current financial requirement document for anyone interested https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/469692/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement_August_2015.pdf
  9. Answer is yes you need to take an english test as you are not an Australian citizen. https://www.gov.uk/english-language/approved-english-language-qualifications Also there are quite a few hurdles to overcome, being married to a Britsh Citizen does not guarantee automatic right to settle in UK. https://www.gov.uk/settle-in-the-uk
  10. Ok but still chancing the study in some circumstances statement given immigration might not wear the fact is on back of a study visa that could possibly be extended. Also although i am not clear given different variations visitor visa 1)do they have to be applied for offshore 2)once granted probably cancels the study visa if still active at the time. End of day only immigration can really answer if the visitor visa is good enough plus of course whether the college will accept over a proper study visa.
  11. So which visitor visa had you in mind as some have to be applied for whilst offshore. Also having had a WHV, then a study visa and now proposing a visitor visa which as per Aus Gov site may allow study in some circumstances might raise a few alarm bells on long term intentions. Why not just either apply for a study visa extension or a new study visa for the course given the visitor visa looks pretty vague as far as study https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Stud/More/Extending-Your-Stay If long term intention is to apply for PR best attempt go with the proper visa for the purpose and not as a visitor.
  12. This is often the issue with WHV in any country people arrive expecting to find plenty of jobs available then find best case bar jobs , farm jobs or maybe if lucky retail. Generally all casual labour with any office jobs being at a premium and usually prioritised to established residents. You might strike lucky but lack of office experience and being on a WHV need a good deal of luck. Having said that keep positive on what is lifetime experience and something will turn up just might take some time.
  13. The new tax is 32.5 percent on all income as believe backpackers are classified as non resident. As result that classification not sure now if able to claim any tax back but you would really need to contact a tax expert to clarify the full effect of the changes which i read somewhere come in July and are forecast to significantly reduce WHV numbers given previously could earn upto 18k before tax came in.
  14. Not knowing what the Ops occupation is depends ultimately in this plan how transportable that might be UK to NZ to OZ also by time OP gets NZ visa then waits around for NZ citizenship Op will be early 50s so whilst no where near ready for retirement pension mobility still starts to be a longer term consideration. Also lets not forget although most people can be in denial older you get employment opportunities depending on what field you are in can see some discrimination creeping in.
  15. And who knows the OP might like NZ so much after 5 years may not even make it to Australia. Suggest the OP reads up about some limitations on NZ citizens living and working in Australia.
  16. Yep i was wrong i admit was just a paranoid view of US immigration https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/826/~/what-to-do-if-my-visa-is-in-an-expired-passport
  17. Ok but when that passport expires oct 2016 in effect the visa goes with it as it is assigned to a then invalid travel document and I for one would not like to test that theory of validity with US immigration who can even give people a hard time just to transit through the US let alone stay there for any period.

    Help needed

Almost certain something to plan for given assuming visa granted and activated for family now whilst he is 16 then could assume finishing A levels in UK moving on to a 3 year UNI (maybe even a 4 year) would stretch to the full 5 years when he is 21/22 with only the holiday visits in that time. Adding in a gap year could also make a difference.
  19. Think i saw somewhere that even doing a part time job whilst at Uni affects dependant status as well as being over 18. Best as others said consult an agent.
  20. Assume that you are taking into account your kids possibly changing status post uni from being dependants to not dependant where they would on their own as far as a visa is concerned
  21. Can be corrected but think only NZ citizens have that right, NZ PR need a visa of sorts and then without looking up detail a NZ PR i think needs to show time in NZ to get to be a NZ citizen in first place. I dont think as a plan will make it easier to emigrate to Australia via NZ emigrating to NZ first plus the years to become a NZ citizen.

    Where to begin

    Maybe start here https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/405-
  23. Not a good place to post a phone number in a public forum
  24. The main point though is even getting PR in NZ is doubtful as a route without commercial experience and job being on the 'wanted' list. Even if that was a viable route would be years after that to become a NZ citizen and then as you say even then could only be a temp resident in Australia without applying for a perm visa. Which ever way you look at it the poster needs to be realistic and look at this as a long term plan over number of years and for sure via NZ is not a quick fix but likely adds more years in the end. A working holiday visa could be an option simply to even test the water as not even sure the poster has even been to Australia or whether this seems like a good idea based on some TV program. Who knows might be some romance in the air which at this point might be the only viable option.
