  1. Yeah, I had my test a week and a half ago, passed with flying colours, and my status is still on 'received'. IMO, there is no reason why I wasn't approved that day or within 24 hours of writing the test. Wait time for the ceremony? That I understand. This? That's pretty weak and demonstrate a flaw in the most basic aspects of the Citizenship process.
  2. Does anyone know, once you pass your citizenship test, are you formally notified if you have been officially approved as being eligible for a citizenship ceremony or is it just presumed that you have been approved and are simply waiting for an invite to attend a local citizenship ceremony? Just a bit confused on how that process works.
  3. I should also mention the lady administering the test only asked for my drivers licence as proof of identity. Nothing else. She said that post Covid they haven't been checking many documents at all, only bare minimum. So I brought all those other docs with me for nothing haha.
  4. Sat my test this morning. Finished in less than 10 minutes. % All in all the whole process from when I walked in to when I walked out was 39 minutes. No idea if it's 'approved' yet or not. My status on my Immiaccount is still on 'Received'
  5. Hi everyone. I know this question has been asked a million times over and I apologise for adding to that, but can someone remind me where I can find practice tests for my upcoming citizenship test next week? I'm not too concerned about passing but just want a refresher on the type of questions I will encounter. Thanks.
  6. Well I have told my story in several threads scattered throughout this forum, so I don't want to choke up this thread with additional repetitious garble. You can search for them if you wish. Personally, I think you find it 'boring' because you grew up in a warmer climate and you long for that again. Canada is far from boring. If it is, then Australia is equally as 'boring', which is also not true. The fact that both countries are in the top 10 quality of life listings (there are many, but most seem to say the same thing consistently) is a testament to the opposite of being 'boring'. What I'm saying to you is don't equate Australia to Adriatic Europe; the two are nothing alike perhaps besides some aspects of climate and being next to an ocean.
  7. I remember living back home with my rose-coloured glasses on, much like Domo and others, thinking everything will be a bastion of perfection in Australia because it's Australia. Had a huge wake-up call a year into living in this country that it isn't the perfect paradise that so many foreigners believe it to be, including myself. It has its faults and warts like every other country. It's still a great country, just maybe not as great as I thought it would be after moving here. I now realise how lucky and privileged I am to have been born and raised in one of the best countries in the world. Funny how you clue in on that when you decide to leave it and move elsewhere. Still far better than the Excited States of Murca though
  8. Why would you be consulting with a UK migrant agent when you live in Toronto? I don't understand that logic. Being Canadian, just use a migrant agent in Canada. I'm sure there aren't any shortages in Toronto.
  9. Maybe you should consult a migrant agent who would be far more precise in their response than most people here...?
  10. Depends where you live. I'm guessing it's not for Mackay, QLD.
  11. I tried rescheduling; there is nothing available between today and the obligatory date. So the 26th of May it is.
  12. Ah okay. Not sure if I want to rock the boat and ask for a change of date if I don't have a valid reason to do so. They may not be impressed.
  13. I received an unexpected yet pleasant surprise this morning; an email with an appointment date for my citizenship test................26th of May. Twenty months after the application was submitted, it's finally happening. The status of the application still indicates 'received' on my ImmiAccount, interestingly enough.
  14. Ah right. Thanks, I've never heard of that term before.
  15. If someone is willing to front all associated costs for a holiday to NZ, I'm in! I am getting quick homesick though and could use a trip back to the Great White North; it's been nearly 3 years since I've returned.
  16. There is good reason for that, as I have learnt
  17. I see it as being more dependant on the individual assessor one gets at the time of testing. They are all individual people who all have differing personalities and some seem to follow their own directives more stringently than others. It's the luck of the draw, basically.
  18. I don't think they are as stringent anymore, unless Canada and Australia have some sort of side agreement regarding driving licences that I'm not aware of. I swapped mine over 5 years ago, and I don't believe anything has changed much since then.
  19. I guess I was specifically referring to QLD and the NT, where they definately are.
  20. And see, I've had the exact opposite opinion. I grew up and lived in large major cities back home, and even as an introverted person, didn't have any dramas in meeting good friends. But having only lived in smaller cities in this country, I've found it terribly difficult to crack into social circles and meet close friends. I find people in the smaller cities here are less inclinded to truly welcome in 'outsiders', because in these smaller cities the populations are far more transient being more resourced-based boom-bust economies, leading 'locals' to not really invest in newer people coming into the community. It's what I expected to be honest because that small-town mentality is no different here than it is back home. I'm not saying it's impossible to make good friends in smaller towns. I have made two good friends........in five years. It's takes longer but can be done. However, I still feel people have a better shot at making more good friends sooner in the larger cities where there are simply more people to choose from. It really is a numbers game in the end.
  21. My Canadian licence was swapped over for an Aussie licence without hassle. I believe if you are from any country where English is the national language, you don't have to get re-tested for a licence.
