  1. Er, you might not want to put your mobile number on a publicly accessible forum!?!?
  2. 457 is no commitment at all really! If it's not working out, they can fire you and you would have to go home within 90 days if you don't find another sponsor (which is becoming increasingly difficult) all it would cost them is return economy flights for you. Despite what it cost you in terms of life upheaval etc... As a result most 457 workers are constantly looking over their shoulders and put up with far more than normal workers for risk of upsetting their employers and being sent back.
  3. No worries. You're very lucky getting a 186 straight off the bat. Most employers would go through 457 first as a kind of 'try before you buy' thing!
  4. No sorry I don't, I was 457 to 186 transition so didn't need a skills assessment.
  5. You are correct, you can't work until 186 granted, but you can apply for the 457 and 186 at the same time.
  6. Then the question will be to your sponsor, what do they want from you? If they want to get you out ASAP then it will be a 457 as the 186 takes about 6 months.
  7. He he wouldn't need an RRV. You have 5 years to enter from the date of visa grant. As long as he enters within the five years and then doesn't need to travel for a while he would be fine.
  8. As long as it's within 5 years of the visa grant, it should be fine for him to come and live there permanently after uni. Speaking as the step mother of a 20 year old lad you just need to be mindful that things may not work out like this though... Things change a lot in 5 years, especially at that age. He could meet the partner of his dreams/land an amazing job in the UK and you could face him living on the other side of the world forever.
  9. I may be wrong and I'm sure Raul will correct me, but it's possible that DIBP won't give you that information. As the nomination is made by your co. It is possible that you're not a nominated person on the Immiaccount and therefore they may not give you details about the nomination?
  10. It can be anything up to 4 years. Your company will have specified the length on your nomination.
  11. Theres plenty of regional work available, but maybe not locally, you may have to travel to get this. Then document anything and everything you're doing to maintain your relationship. It will be a case of short term pain for long term gain.
  12. Do your 2nd year WHV and build up more evidence... It's a lot of money/stress to apply for the visa and then not be granted because the dept don't believe your relationship to be genuine...
  13. He could get a job anywhere in Australia as long as he was sponsored by an employer. There's a lot of negativity on this forum re:457. And it's not easy, because you are always looking over your shoulder in case you get made redundant. BUT. You're in your 40's, your kids are practically adults, this is your time. Go for it. Take a risk. You never know what will happen in life and at least you'll have tried. My hubby & I and my 15 year old step son came over almost 5 years ago on a 457. We were in a very precarious industry and a few times we thought we'd have to go back to the UK. However, we got PR in 2013 and then on 26 Jan this year I became a citizen (just applied for my Oz passport!). So it can work out. Just to add a bit of balance to the "got made redundant, had to go home" stories.
  14. See here... Says can do urgent in limited circumstances...https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/Citi/Attending-your-ceremony
  15. You can request to do it somewhere else if you have an urgent need to have a ceremony
  16. I thought it was pretty clear? He started roofing when he was 16? He would've probably carried on while he was a police officer many have part time trades as well as the job.
  17. As I said, the longer you leave it post-conviction the better it will be... As it shows that it was just an aberration rather than a developing pattern of behaviour. I didn't take from your post that you weren't going to declare, just that you wanted advice as to when to apply... So that's mine.
  18. What occupation are you applying for? My preference would be to leave it as long as possible and then declare but if your occupation is flagged you may want to get on with it! You're not applying to be a police officer I assume?
  19. We were in 457 and my stepson went to school in Vic. There were no public school fees here. However, we sent him to a private school. They charged us the same fees as Australian residents.
  20. My council asked me to RSVP by a certain date (including any guests) because they have to do preparations, so I would guess if you don't RSVP they won't include you. If you've got someone checking your post though, it's only a matter of them providing you the phone number and you making a quick call, not a big drama.
  21. Can't find anyone in those professions that's known husband a year, we've moved about a bit and he hasn't been to the GP!
  22. I don't know the answer to your question, about whether they would take it into account, but I would say that there is a way of checking this at citizenship stage as they ask you to list your residential addresses for the last 5 years.
  23. Could be wrong but when I tried to finalise mine, I thought it didn't allow me the documents were attached?
