You say you are in New Caledonia, currently. Are you a New Caledonia passport holder? If so, you are not considered low risk. Only those people who are eligible for ETA are low risk and New Caledonia are not on that list.

Hi there, I used to use this forum but forgot my password... So I've re-registered with a different user name. The theme of the thread has changed a bit and the tone does appear negative because the posters are trying to help by telling you of the bad experiences they've heard/seen. So, to add some balance, we came in 2011 on a 457. I have a stepson who came with us aged 15, he's just about to turn 20 and has had a great experience. In 2013 we achieved PR through employer sponsorship. We no longer work with that company, we have 3 houses here and I am just waiting for my citizenship ceremony! It was an extremely stressful time with some very low lows, but we got there, so it can be done. It is a risk, but how would you feel if you didn't take that chance in a couple of years... Always regret what you do, not what you don't do.
