  1. Fair enough. Check out seek and indeed they are job search sites and will give you an understanding of the volume of recruitment going on and in which areas.
  2. Couldn't you apply for a partner visa in the end??
  3. Only really terrorist offences
  4. i guess in terms of your relationship. How did you meet? Have you already started to collate your defacto evidence? Have you considered the prospective marriage visa?
  5. How did you manage to get 3 years behind when you're only 19!?!? The earliest people normally start is 18? im not sure why Ellie, but it feels like there is info you're not advising, which is absolutely your right, but it will limit the amount of advice people can provide?
  6. The visa is free if they're eligible for it https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/651-?tab=1&heading=who-could-get-this-visa

    PR Visa

See here... http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/158703-skillselect-ens-186-timeline-2075.html mine took longer than this, it's perfectly normal
  8. it seems to make sense and you have the funds to support it. However there's a lot of ifs and buts there. Also, some student visas might have a 'no further stay' condition to prevent people doing dodgy courses to try and stay in Oz (no that I'm suggesting your course is dodgy, but the possibility of that condition is there) As a result and because this is a long term plan which affects you and your mum, as well as money appearing to be no object, I would consult a migration agent to get the best strategy for your personal circumstances.
  9. It's the 2nd instalment that is expensive. see this thread... http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/228677-help-contributory-parent-visa-subclass-143-a.html
  10. the first one you linked to (173) is temporary for up to 2 years, if you want to make it permanent it's a 143 visa, which if you apply directly costs about $50,000. It's called the contributory parent visa. There are lots of threads here about it.
  11. Sounds like you've got it worked out, you're in a very fortunate position to have such a supportive mum! Just when you're planning etc.. If you want to ultimately bring your mum over, that is also a very high cost visa, currently about $50,000, yes $50k, plus medicals etc...
  12. Ellie, I'm not sure where you're looking, but international fees for an accountancy course are approx $30,000 per year, so total cost (including resources etc) approx $100,000 or £50,000. £8k won't get you far at all. see the below link... http://www.anu.edu.au/files/resource/140429_DSA_ASQO_ISF_v5_FA.pdf if you are desperate to be over here, come on a WHV, get your permanent partner visa then study here, and you won't then need to pay these fees, you will get local student fees.
  13. What course are you planning to study? Also, do you have any other siblings?
  14. What course are you hoping to study?
  15. So finish your education in the UK then go the WHV much cheaper
  16. Working holiday visa, allows you to work in Oz for 1 year (can be extended to 2 if you do rural work)
  17. Why don't you do a WHV? That's much cheaper and would enable you to live together to develop your relationship without the exorbitant costs of the student fees.
  18. Not sure if they're recruiting for the prison service in the UK just now, you may need to move (possibly south - they tend to have more jobs) and you would take a significant pay cut. Starting salary for a prison officer in uk is about £18k. But if you do decide to go down this route, PM me if you need any assistance. I spent 6 years in prisons in the UK (going home every night, of course!)
  19. You know that with a student visa you have to pay international fees, much more than the £3k for a partner visa?
  20. Yes, that's fine. They give you a letter at the interview saying you have 30 days or however long to get it and send to them. Only after this will the citizenship be approved. The same thing happened to me with my marriage certificate.
  21. I don't think you would be eligible for the ETA Business visitor as you don't have a business. It's for business activities such as conferences/meetings, not to find work. Check this link. https://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ETAS3/etas also, don't you have to have a skills assessment for 457? The 457 says you do for trades occupations so I'm not sure if a cable jointer would count as a trade? See pg.38 of this doco. https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1154.pdf becci, why is it that you so badly want to come to Australia? What do you think it holds that you're prepared to spend all this money trying to get here with no guarantee of being able to stay? Maybe if we can get to the bottom of that for you we can give you a perspective that will help you see that you're better off waiting to do it the usual way?
  22. I was not trying to be unhelpful. You were asking a question about the threshold for the visa. I was asking a question about the practicality of you actually having to support them if they came out and whether you could as they would receive no government support.
  23. But how can you support them if your partner is on the dole and you're working casually with a baby to look after as well??
  24. Have a look at this website. It says school fees on the 820 are not payable therefore I'd think that your child would be entitled to the same treatment as a PR, so if they get a bus pass, your child should too. http://www.detinternational.nsw.edu.au/media-assets/trp/visa-subclasses.pdf
