  1. With 14 days now to go for me but at a rate of 3 days progression per month then that's a tad under 5 months before Case Officer. Time to open a bottle or 3 and I don't care ifs it's only just mid day Kim
  2. Maybe someone stole the office abacus - we could club together and get them a new one if that meant progress again!!!
  3. Sorry Mrs Geordie Joe I usually side with the ladies but in this case carry on sharpening Mr Geordie Joe. Hear hear re 'transparency of information'. However, it appears we are not worthy to be allowed into the 'circle of knowing'. Of course, who are we expect courtesy and inclusion as unlike the typical person likely to be working at immi we are not second or more generation Ozzie who are now benefitting from the hard work of generations before. We are just the parents of those who Australia needed and because of their skills are likely to make a big positive impact on the economy and all Australian benefit from that. Australia isn't being 'kind' letting us come as parents of these new much needed immigrants. They know our presence will likely limit the returning of this vital skills group to their original country due to family pressures. Childcare is lacking here so we provide quality free support to that infrastructure and we bring a wad of cash each year - approx $350 million a year. I am the mum of 2 Australian citizens and grandma to 2 native born Ozzies. I am a first generation migrant leaving loved ones behind and facing the Unknown. Despite all all of this I apparently am not worthy of a short paragraph each week in the update giving useful progress news instead of where they are currently up to full stop. Sorry I think I just went into rant mode - I feel tad better though.
  4. I sent email to immi asking likely timesscales before we got Case Officer. Was told we MAY be in this years quota but wouldn't confirm. As only our lodgement only 17 days after 6 May very worrying they can't confirm us getting through this year especially after all the high levels of applicants reason has been quoted as to several periods of no progress this year!!!
  5. Hi. Just returned from NZ and no problem re-entering oz. As immi said there is still a chance we could be I this years quota I am still hoping. Last year a remember reading that parents were made to wait up to 6 weeks after being processed by Case Officer and THEN being told no quota left. Kim
  6. Hi we have been here, plus teenage son in tow, 'ducking and diving' for nearly 3 years and been on long term visitors visas as part of our stay. Both SOH and I got granted on shore for long term visitor visa after entering on e visitor. I was quizzed as to why I wanted to stay for year and genuinely had reason at that time of my daughter was having a difficult pregnancy and had a 3 year old granddaughter I was helping out with. They didn't ask for any proof and were very sympathetic even ensuring giving me maximum time to cover until after baby due. Also my hubbie, at one point, spent 9 months on e visitor leaving 3 times every 3 months overnight in NZ. Was warned we might get challenged doing this even though rules say you can enter as many times as you like for max 3 months stay. Interestingly SOH is convinced our that as we have the passports that you can scan at airport and therefore our entry is electronic making it less likely to you be subjected to some bored immigration person wanting something to do 'picking on as you' when you enter. If you don't have a 'do not stay' on your 457 no reason why you can't apply onshore but there is a hefty $700 extra fee for that!! Otherwise you need to hop to nearest offshore and apply. Always have reasons as to why other than 'just because you want to ride out until Parents visa comes through' as once said that and they got really shirty!! Luckily got all my kids here so always some 'drama' we can rely on. I even did an accounts course last year with hubbie as my dependant so I am an Australian trained accountant now - passed with honours and loved it so see it as opportunity to do something different. Seriously considering writing my memoirs based on our 'journey to oz PR'. coincidently due to latest lack of progress as we within couple of weeks immi date we are both hopping to NZ later today for overnighter in NZ again as our 3 months up on e visitor. Can't believe we are having to do this again as did it three months ago and thought we would have been through by now. So another $1000 for flights and worry as to will be get back in after all our multi entries!! Kim
  7. Just gets worse. Finally had response to our email. Firstly they point out that they have now changed update to 24 months from 23 months Se we are now not over due??? Next they say we MAY be in this years 7175 allocation of places which is up to 30 June this year or we MAY NOT??? Then they state they will not be getting to us for at least another 2 weeks but won't commit to actually when. Kindly finish off with token 'we appreciate how stressful this must be'. Words simply fail me
  8. Immi update - no change from 6 May. Now saying may take up to 24 months instead of 23
  9. Hi. Just interested in your response as seems to fly in face of immi quoting 'up to 23 months wait' where it appears they won't even give out hap no until into 23 month. Kim
  10. Zilch. As on e visitor our 3 months up on Monday so another $1000 wasted flying to NZ and back. Let's hope they let us in as only away 24 hours and will be really unhappy bunny if then get CO and have to turn around and fly back out. Everything ready just waiting waiting waiting and waiting Kim
  11. As I am 23 May I should have had a Case Officer 3 days ago to be in line with "up to 23 months'. We couldn't hold our tongue any more so have sent an email to immi asking for some indication as they have gone over 23 months in our case. @Val Tibenham is 2 days in front of me and in same boat Kim
  12. Hi. I will be watching your updates like a hawk as you are only 2 days ahead of me.
  13. Hi. Welcome. I only found this site few months ago and wish had discovered earlier. Definitely would not trust any timings as to wait. When I lodged was 16 to 18 months now 23 and increasing. Would have booked stress counsellor much earlier!!! Also would re-think moving money to Oz. I should have taken better advantage of better rates at the time as then found having to move money at less favourable exchange rate. Lastly needed much bigger pot of patience but not sure where you can buy such large quantities - sure you must be able to find on the internet somewhere?? Kim
  14. Thanks. I actually feel like crying as just could not bear another no change week or only small jump. Our three month stay ends 3 May and it no progress means we have to leave and come back AGAIN. When we did this 3 months ago we thought no way would be be still waiting at this point Kim
  15. I am holding on to hope as just sent test email and no response - here's hoping @Sadge has received last weeks update PLEASE Kim
  16. Only second hand info but apparently if you are on a cruise you remain on the soil of the country you departed from ie if depart Sydney then you are on Australian soil whilst on board. We thought of same thing and didn't really look into too closely but appeared info correct so chucked idea. Kim
  17. With only 17 days to my lodgement I actually will have a full blown tantrum followed by lots of sniffly tears which isn't a pretty sight if they don't move this week after no progress last week.
  18. At least sunset from my deck can cheer me up and @AlanSteel I don't have to wear a scarf here
  19. After many many months of painfully slow shuffling my chair closer and closer to the door out of the waiting room I now am poised to grab the handle. I am prepared and have ticked the following off my checklist ~ 3 x triple checked completed Form 80 ~ 3 x UK and Australian recently acquired Police Checks ~ 3 x medicals done and submitted to Immi ~ required dosh in the bank - account transaction limit recently raised to $100,000 to more than accommodate 2nd VACS when requested ~ dozen energy drinks to keep me going - additional shot of vodka in each - for medicinal purposes of course ~ comfortable track suit and trainers ready for the final sprint - spare pack in case of any Immi delays ~ my 'smiley be nice whatever' face when dealing with Case Officer i am setting target of 7 days from Case Officer to Grant. So once I am called I will be off - @AlanSteel I am relying on you to be right behind me as likely to be bit unsteady on my feet after all that sitting and waiting or might be the vodka so give me a nudge towards the doors for needed. I think that's it unless anyone can think of something I have forgotten Kim
  20. Hi A piece of advice for everyone is that you should try and keep a UK bank account going once you depart to oz. If not and you want to open one at a later stage I was told that it's almost impossible to do so if not residing anymore in UK. Also for those retired I found a brilliant savers account with CommBank - others might be around but I went for this one as it gives nearly double the normal interest rate. I had to declare I was never going to work again which I'm fully intending not to to qualify but that was about it. now come on Immi I AM WAITING for this weeks update Kim
  21. If we all huff and we puff in a very coordinated manner we might just add some tail wind just like the flight from Perth to Sydney is nearly hour less than Sydney to Perth - might be other way round! It's the principle that matters Kim
  22. That's chugging along nicely immi up to 6 May - 17 days until ME:wub:
