  1. Hi. When we sent ours in we heard nothing for about 2 weeks then saw money taken from our account. We then received an email saying our lodgement date was 23 May 2014, however, it also stated we would not get a formal acknowledgement of this for approx 6 months. After 6 1/2 months we finally received a formal acknowledgement. Hope that helps. Kim
  2. I would absolutely ring them ASAP. Friends of ours found themselves in same boat and finally called only to be told 'sorry we forgot you' they ended up 2 months longer than others who applied at same time as them Kim
  3. Have just seen form 80 - my husband is Ex police and was at Catford when bombed so pretty sure he had explosive training after that. This is going to be fun. As we have taken plunge and move here already - furniture and belongings as well I ditched all unnecessary paperwork!!! Kim
  4. Hi glad to hear good news coming through. joyron I just wondered when you got your case officer. Kim
  5. Hi. Maisie. Can see you are about 7 weeks ahead of me so interested to hear when you get to case officer. We are going for 173 and didn't get any meds dates with our acknowledgement and as have no AOS this time around so am wondering if we will get 'pre-call' like HarleyPhil did last month as he is 143. Kim
  6. Hi Julie. I have gone through many pencils doing my calculations as likely dates and I concur with you. We have taken plunge and moved here already and our temporary visa runs out 30 Jan so sailing close to the wind. Worth the gamble as got 4 year old and 3 month grandchildren and spending time with them is priceless. Don't worry I will be posting as soon as I hear and you will probably hear me screaming yes yes yes wherever you are xkimx
  7. So knowing they had a planned outage for today - you would have thought they would have posted last night - maybe I am setting the bar too high in terms of expectations!! Kim
  8. Here's hoping immi dates 'rockets' forward as temperature rockets up in Sydney today - 41 degrees - air con inventor, I thank you!!
  9. I see a new addition for future Olympic Games - parents visa watching - nerves of steel required!!! Xkimx
  10. Hi Phil - good to hear you are having some progress. We are living over here in Sydney whilst waiting for our visa and interestingly I was just looking up cost of Medicals here - we have 3 to pay for as got our teenage son on application as well and cost here is around $350 each which is about £175 ish for one and £350 for 2 so sounds like that's one small saving in the grand scale of things. Sounds like you are one of the first Immi is 'pre-calling' which is what I believe they used to do before they gave you dates with acknowledgment for Medicals etc. Warming up nicely here now but had fair share of rain - here's hoping good jump with immi this week. Regards Kim
  11. Thanks for sharing that as made my day, actually week - we lodged 23 May 2014 - now really excited Kim
  12. I am going to be positive and believe immi is going to zoom through from now - if I don't hang on to that I will be hanging on the neck of a bottle or two. Kim
  13. Hi Steve. I saw that this afternoon - better than nothing but looking up dec 2013 and the 7th and 8th were a weekend so really only 2 days? Kim
  14. Thanks Linda. My sister migrated to Perth and lives in Sepentine. Just got from visiting her. Everything crossed for you and can't praise school system enough. My son was running with some dubious characters before leaving Uk and difference was amazing. School was strict but encouraging. Having nightmares about having to return but if need be will do what it takes as no regrets about jumping in Kim
  15. Thanks John. We are in unusual position as have 2 daughters + 2 gorgeous grandchildren migrated to Sydney plus a teenage son living with us. We took plunge to move here temporarily just before we applied for parents visa so that our son could start his HSC as he would be part of our application being under 16. After an initial delay to our application due to visa dept stuffing up second daughter's PR then this delay with actual processing we have been here year longer than anticipated. We were able to stay on student and guardian visas plus couple of other temp visas but now no more options to 'duck and dive' if we don't get processed soon. We took risk to come early but so worth it as my son had fantastic education end to school life here, made friends and sampled life here. According to him I was 'wicked witch of west' dragging him here to start with now I 'walk on water' as loves it here. He is on young persons year visa and working. I have been able help care for 4 years and 6 week grandchildren which was invaluable to my daughter. Our furniture and possessions are here and house rented out back in UK so thought of having to return to Uk to 'camp out' until case officer and grant is not nice which we will have to after Jan 30. Living here last 3 years has showed we are making best decision ever and seeing our girls thrive and having amazing time here helps cope with pain leaving loved ones behind and dealing with 'migrating process'. Anyone in similar dilemma?? Kim
  16. Hi I'm new member and am so happy to be in contact with people in same boat as us. We applied for 173 on 23 May 2014 and feels like swimming in treacle to get to case officer. We didn't get our acknowledgement unti 16 Dec 2014. My main questions are how can you judge when getting close to being contacted as feel 'test' date seems vague as conflicting data appear on visa tracker. I have worn out one pencil already trying to calculate likely date?? From comments on here seems like there is big difference in time to case officer for applicants lodging at similar time. Really really hard playing this waiting game especially when we are paying such high costs for massive delays on the quoted times when we lodged with minimal warning and vague explanations. We tried to get details needed for Medicals in order to be ready only to be told we can't have details needed for Medicals until we had a case officer but seems others have been able to do it? Moan over - still really excited about getting our PR
