  1. Thanks Andy. I was actually in the position to get a refund (at a 3rd of the rate that the pension would have been with had it carried on) which I saw to be the best option for something so small, knowing that fees would be attached. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!
  2. I got this email too. Next stage I guess, giving the go ahead to do Medicals etc in accordance with the current waiting of 10-14 months
  3. Same. I'm pretty sure you can't at a local hospital, only the ones listed. I travelled 85 miles to get mine done
  4. Go to 'notification' at the top of this page and click on 'inbox'. Down the left hand side click 'edit signature'. I'm on my iPad, too
  5. Ps - Singapore is awesome to fly with, and apart from Malaysia always has the quickest flights.
  6. You can only get 10kg if your visa isn't activated. I emailed them the other day as I booked my flight for April and this is what I got back: Thank you for your email. Kindly note, if you hold an unused/unstamped/not validated migrant visa that specifically states that you are permitted to remain in Australia indefinitely / permanently for flights departing from London you will then be entitled to our migrant baggage allowance (i.e. 40 kilos per seat paying passenger) This baggage allowance will only be granted when you check in at the airport when this visa is sighted and checked that it has also not been travelled on before, this has to be the first time it is being used. You can have as many items of checked luggage as you wish provided: •The total combined weight of all the items put together does not exceed your total checked allowances •No single item of baggage exceeds 32 kilos in weight, as a health and safety requirement If you are not holding the correct visa mentioned above at check-in, then you will be entitled to the standard free checked baggage allowance of 30 kilos per seated passenger. Hope this helps! Danielle
  7. Hi Andy, Very quick question that I hope you can clarify for me. I have a tiny single pension here of £700. If I was to move it into a QROPS would there be a fee? I am clear on the tax side should it be moved within the 6 months etc, I just wanted to know what the approx. fee would be for a pension this small and if it really is worth transferring. Thanks!!
  8. AusCitizen we are on the PMV300 waiting list too and it kills us being apart from each other. Only thing that is keeping me from going insane is my new niece who was born in September! I feel your pain. We considered doing exactly what you are wanting to do but are not in the financial position to do so with visiting each other and a wedding coming up, these next three months of wages for us both are pretty important and will need to support us for the time I'm not working whilst job hunting! Good luck, I hope it all works out for you!
  9. Pretty exciting evening! Our CO called me in the middle of my shopping, just to clarify something I emailed him about yesterday. Almost didn't answer it, not keen on answering numbers I don't know, but glad I did! Our visa application is up to date and if it wasn't for the fact that our wedding is booked for next November, he could have granted real soon! A bit gutted BUT I have a time frame now of exactly how long I have left and we can finally book my flight! ? So the April countdown is on!!
  10. Uncle James, you are the first that applied in April to be approved - fingers crossed it keeps up this speedy! Congrats!
  11. I'm pretty sure this is what I did too
  12. Hi Linlanae, To be on the safe side I would include it on the 40sp as well as writing a statement and include generic dates for them. I had to do that with one of my trips. I'm from the UK and even though I have a passport, I don't have one from the beginning of the 10 years ago as it was replaced and they kept it so I couldn't give the exact dates. Has anyone else come across this problem?
  13. Hi Renebo - My medical was £250 in Berkshire which included medical, x-ray and blood test
  14. It's been a mental few weeks @Wan2go! Spent the end of August in Perth with Benn before flying back to the UK and being welcomed by my new, and very first, baby niece. Unfortunately she's poorly and still in NICU 7 weeks later so have been spending lots of time there and working. It's been quite a distraction to say the least! I bet you are SO SO SOOOO excited!! That weekend you had must have been hell!!!
  15. I am sat here twitching. Almost 5 months in - I am going to be a MESS come April.
  16. Thanks NickyNook - I have already searched superseeker who claim that I do have unclaimed super and it has been moved from my original super fund with my old employer to the ATO as I left Australia 10 years ago. I am just having issues with the next step - finding it!
  17. Hello, From 2004 - 2007 I visited oz on a WHV which then went into a defacto. During this time I worked (on my WHV) at numerous jobs for a year, then permanently for the next 2 on my defacto. I have paperwork to say that I had contributed to Super, but I can't find anything online anywhere to say how much I have and where it is. I wish to set it up into a fund that I can begin when I move out on my PMV300 next year and would like an idea of how much I have and where to find it, as it's apparently gone back into unclaimed funds according to the ATO website. Just wanting to get my finances in order, so trying to sort my UK pension and Super which is a joy! NOT Thanks in advance!
