  1. We are off to Melbourne, had it pencilled in for some time, it's a great up and coming city, but we have picked an eastern suburb more like a town, and within reach of the CBD easily.
  2. Had my medical today, so looking by the spread sheet, we are looking at December for ours I think?
  3. Looking at it, there is a 'naturalisation' section, and costs are £1005 from what I can see?
  4. What would the costs be, my imagination agent says she would be naturalised (was his words) as she's been here that long?
  5. Be interested to find out who you went with, I've had to have a 40ft High Cube due to Campervan height. I would flatten your book cases, flat pack furniture doesn't like being moved about.

    Poms Not in Oz

I'm current going through this, I have 4 children, and I am moving to be closer to my other halves family. I have a friend who has been over a few years, and he said don't go on the forums, because you get the ones who state all the bad things. Yes, I have thought am I doing the right thing, for me, for my other half, as she's been in the UK 20yrs now, and most of all my children (most of all my children). The whole process is costing me about £20k, moving costs, visa, pets, insurance etc.........., it's been one of the most stressful things I have done in a long time, far more than moving house, you have to think of every little thing, when to ship furniture, what to live on the other end for the 6 weeks, locating properties, what area to live in, getting a job, it's not all plain sailing, I am not surprised people are thinking twice...................I'm in the for the long haul, I can see light at the end of the tunnel, and a big hole in my bank account, but I won't change my mind, I will not be beaten! :-)
  7. I have my medical on Thursday this week, completed the Police check on-line, current waiting time is 10 working days to process, but you can pay a premium and have it next working day.
  8. Do you have to do citizenship whilst in the UK?
  9. Bring your game faces...............we're waiting! :-)
  10. My other half has been in the UK for nearly 20yrs,, she's had indefinite leave to remain since 1999, if she returns to Oz, will she loose her ILR, if so, what does she need to do before we leave, just in case we need to return? Cheers MT.
  11. After sleeping on the problem, a fresh set of eyes revealed I was being a dick, and trying to upload a PDF ID photo instead of the required JPG file...............hands up operator error! ;-) Cheers MT
  12. 19. Right, Dialema, we are planning to rent for approx 2yrs when we arrive in Melbourne early 2016, I am have shipping quotes finalise. looking at properties to rent, I've seen houses with built in wardrobes, so my Mrs is saying not to takes ours, I'm saying take them and see. One wardrobe is part of a set of furniture, the other is old antique pine, so if I brought them, would selling them be a problem? So...................who's right?? Cheers MT
  20. Our bill for 2 dogs is around £3600 for shipping and quarantine..................I'm beginning to think I'm going to use this fee as blackmail for a 1967 rag top Beetle when I land!! :-)
  21. Hi, i have a few items that are rusty, one Chopper Bike that I'm restoring, a few old metal tool trunks, and old Snap-on Tool Box and a few tools. I have had mixed messages from shipping agent rep, some say consentrate on dirt and rust should be fine, some are saying don't even bother sending it!! What's your thoughts, have you been pulled by customs on extra cleaning of rusty items, not that they would clean like soil residue items anyway?! Cheers MT
  22. How spooky is this, we decided that Berwick was the area we'd like the most to settle, I have had a message from two companies in Dandelong and Hallam to give them a call when I land in Oz.............I could nearly walk to work!! ;-)
  23. @Team AB Sorry for the delay, been on holiday, if you private message me, I can e-mail across, I not sure how to upload to this forum? Cheers MT.
  24. Hii all, Just wondered who has gone through this issue before? I am shipping goods in a 40ft Hi Cube, in there is 1400cuft of personal belongings, and a VW Campervan (Kombi). This just about fills the container, as they won't fill the area either side of the vehicle due to risk of damage. I have been looking at each of the quotes today in more detail, and I'm getting to the bit around Marine Insurance, which I can see is 3% of the value you require to replace your belongings, or insure specific items (need guidance on this issue also) What did you do, use the shipping companies, or take out your own through an independent company? Cheers MT
