  4. Hi ceddy, I was really anxious about my medical too, as I had cervical cancer 10 years ago. I took letters from my consultant and a letter to say I'm checked yearly and everything is fine. I really wouldn't worry, as long as you have documents to cover your self you will be fine. Good luck xx
  5. We are in the same slow boat as you guys! We lodged on 31st may using MARA agent, the agent said it will take 3 mths to get a co :-/ we have done all police checks and medicals just waiting now ....... Tick tock, tick tock.
  6. Congratulations hun :-))), we submitted everything on 31st may (189 visa Melbourne bound hopefully) still no case officer or any news :-( did you use an agent? I was just wondering does you agent get the goldern email or does it go straight to you? Good luck with everything...... We might see you in Melbourne as we want to go out before November this year :-)))
  7. I know what you mean, I keep on checking my emails EVERY morning :-/ I was just thinking the same today, I wonder why it's taking so long????!!! Hope you get yours soon. Keep me posted. Jx
  8. Hi, thanks for your kind words. We are looking at Bayside, not that we know much about it only what we have read. We lived in Sydney (paddington) before, we did love it, but I feel Melbourne is more family friendly for us. But I do understand what your saying about the weather! Keep me informed on how your move is going, I wish you luck. If your ever in Melbourne message me and we can catch up if you want? :-). Take care jx Oh and CONGRATULATIONS :-)))
  9. We went traveling to OZ 14 years ago for one year and loved it. We always wanted to go back but I wouldn't leave my mum. Unfortunately my mum passed away 3 years ago which has left a massive hole in my life and heart. I feel the time was right now, so we started the ball rolling about 2 years ago. We didn't realise how much paper work their was! My other half sat his ielts 5 times he neeed all 8's. It wasn't until his last test he found out he was dyslexic. All passed now thank god! It's so hard, as our children are 7 & 11 years old and it's getting more difficult explaining to them. Have you been to OZ before? I think we are going to Melbourne.
  10. I think if they have all you documents ( ie police checks & medicals ) it can be instant, as that's all the C/O asks for. Well I'm hoping so that's what some people have written on these forums. Where about in melbourne are you hoping to go? I feel like I have got my life on hold! Jx
  11. We lodged on the 31st May for 189 visa, uploaded our police checks and meds 20th June and still no case office :-(. I rang my agent today and she thinks it will come through the end of Aug :-/ good luck everyone x
  12. Congratulations :-))) we are still waiting for our 189 to be granted :-( how do they inform you your vias has been granted?

    Ielts

Hi Boldie, We didn't realise my OH had it either, the only way to prove to ielts was to pay for a private test (£500!!) I know it's a lot of money but with out this you won't get any longer time. I think it's really wrong their is no leeway with spellings, as this is what most dyslexics struggle with. My oh had to get 8's in all areas, what do you need?? I think you should sit the test and see what your score is , as you might surprise yourself. If you don't do very well then get extra tuition online (Skype) or one to one. My partner went to classes for a few mths for ielts which did help a bit. They have brought out the new rules for visas today have you checked to see if the score for ielts has changed?? My partner had 50% extra time on the writing task which helped a lot, as he was able to check his work and plan more. To be honest, the speaking was the other one he was concerned about, as he is quite shy when speaking out aloud and especially if it's a subject he's not familiar with. Are you going on your own or with a partner? If with partner can you go on their skill, then they can sit the test??? Have you mentioned to your agent your concerns? I know it's going to be tough, but I'm sure you can do it :-))

    Ielts

Hi, hear is a blog I posted a while ago, send the ielts company your dyslexia report and they will give you extra time, however they don't allow for more than average spelling mistakes. Me and my partner are dyslexic I know what your going through I do feel for you, but just remember keep on practicing x My OH sat the ielts test 4 times until he passed, he needed all 8's and he's a carpenter, plus over 40! It was the writing task he struggled with, he kept on missing out be 0.5 or 1 mark, this test really did ware him down. Anyway after his 3rd attempt he said to me it was the timings were a problem and spellings so he thinks he knows where he was going wrong as he was rushing on writing task 2. I said "its a shame I cannot sit it for you" and he just laughed and said 'you have got no hope your worse than me beings as you have dyslexia' ( cheers then lol) and he was right ( for once lol) Then it made us think has he???? So he sat a private dyslexia test £500 later and he was! So I contacted the IELTS test center sent them proof ( which was a 30 page report) and they gave him 50% extra time on reading, writing and 10 mims extra time on preparation for his speaking. Guess what he got, 9 in speaking, 8.5 reading, 9 in listening and an 8 in writing :-))) I'm sooooo proud of him he worked so hard and practiced so much. For the people out there struggling don't give up it's your dream pratice, paratice, pratice. Also years ago kids weren't tested for dyslexia, so if your struggling it might be worth investigating. Good luck xx Share
  15. I think the system is so confusing and frustrating!! Hope you get your answers soon. X
  16. That is confusing! I would ask your agent if you have one? Good luck :-)
  17. Still waiting for a case officer :-( We lodged on 31st May 189 visa, Melbourne bound hopefully :-))) Everything is loaded on ie police checks and medicals, they are showing as received on 20th June. Anyone else still waiting for a case officer??
  18. Hi Elven, congratulations :-))) did you have a case officer allocated or just get a direct grant? Also does it come through as an email? I wish ours would come through, as we are unable to make any plans :-(
  19. Thanks for your message. I have sent another email but no joy! I know they are really busy trying to lodge new apllications before the 1st July. I'm just inpatient and I like to know every step of the process ( then again I am paying for it ) . Hopefully some one on hear can help ;-)

    Medicals

Our agent has just emailed me as I asked her to see if our medicals have been loaded on to the system. She has checked our application on line and it's saying health case was submitted to DIBP. What does this mean? We lodged our application on 31st may for 189 visa. Hopefully we won't have to wait long now, fingers crossed.

  22. We are in the same boat as you guys we have 2 children ( one at primary and one going upto secondary this year) we really don't want to start them back to school only to take them out when they are settled. We lodged on the 31st May and submitted police and medicals a week later. Still ne C/O :-( good luck x

  25. Hi cissi, thank you for your response, I'm getting stuck into your advise :-) we are looking at living on bayside in melbourne ( I also like St Kilda but it seems a lot more expensive) we really like modern, contemporary living, with good access to nice shops and restaurants. Oh and not forgetting good schools ( 11 year old and 7) lol. We all enjoy mountain biking, swimming and socialising, which areas would you recommend or not recommend to live? I'm a sports masseur and beauty therapist and hubby is a carpenter/joiner, I'm hoping work is good out there? I would really appreciate yours and other peoples response, as I feel like I'm going round in circles! X
