We got our direct grant on 29 July for the 189 visa :-)) we are still hear but businesses sold, house sold due to exchange on 17th October, most of our furniture sold, move cube coming in 3 weeks. We are moving to my dads until we fly out in Jan. We're not going until then as the trades slow down in nov/dec ( hubby joiner/ site manager) and we wanted to wait until the school year starts in Jan. Also a lot of holiday rentals have already gone as it's the Aussie summer holiday time. We are so looking forward to starting our new life in Melbourne plus a little nervous :-)

Hi shelly, I bet your excited about your move? Not long now :-) hope you don't mind me asking, but as iv said before my OH is a joiner/foreman and I noticed your hubby has lined up some interviews. We have been on Seek to see what work is available and it seems their is quite a lot. How did your hubby get his interviews lined up was it through the job sites? Please can some one advise me, we have received our visas (189) to move to Melbourne due to my partners skill. I have recently passed my assessing and vocational achievement level 3 city & guilds and I'm just about to do level 3 city & guilds education and training ( was the PTLLS ). How do I find out if it's valid in Australia? I have tried to get in contact with the TAFE colleges their but had no response. The colleges hear are unable to tell me. I don't want to pay for my next course if I cannot use it. Thanks x :wacko:

We are hoping to book our flights for January ( Melbourne bound) 2 adults 2 children (11&7). My question is 'has anyone flown with Emerites? If so are they any good? Also we are not sure if to stop off in Thailand or Singapore for a few days or not stop? - I know we need to refuel. We can either fly from Birmingham or London. Any advise flying with kids would be great, as the last time we went to Australia was 14 years ago and we had a children. Any advise would be a great help x :wub::wink::wub:

Hi, we have a 189 visa and we are moving out in January to Melbourne:-)) we have British driving licences, do we have to re sit our test when we get to Melbourne? I do hope not it took me 5 times to pass hear !!! Lol :wink:

Hi, we are moving to Melbourne in January, we have savings, which we have transferred a few mths ago to OZ as the exchange rate was good. We want to buy a car when we get there but I don't want to use our savings straight away. How easy is it to get a loan when we are there or a credit card? Also would you advise buying a new car or one that's a few years old? We have a 189 visa do we have to re sit our driving tests as I read conflicting reviews.

Hi, we are moving to Melbourne in January :-)) please can someone give me some advice on areas, we like the look of Sandringham, parkdale, Hampton and mentone. We have 2 children aged 7 & 11 who love sports, scouts, beavers, and if possible a girls football club oh and their independence! It's really important they go to a good primary school and we need make sure there is a good secondary school near by. I would like somewhere that has some shops ie groceries and cafés close by. We also need to near a train station so we can get to the CBD easily. We love modern houses, and we would like somewhere that has a good community spirt and family feel , as it's important our children have other children to play with. We love doing things as a family so hopefully some one can point us in the right direction. I think that's it god my head is spinning!! Any advice would be great x:chatterbox:

I currently use Elemis products on my face and it's took me years to find anything that suits my skin, my question is 'do they do this product in Melbourne'? If not what's the equivalent please? :-)):wink:

Hi, I'm hoping someone can advise me, we are a family of 4 ( 2 children 11 & 7 ) we have just received our visas last week to move to Melbourne :-)) we are over the moon, but we don't know when to move. My partner is a site manager/joiner and I'm a beauty and holistic therapist. I have read his trade dies down from Nov - Feb is this correct? Also would it be best to apply for jobs before we go? I'm also concerned about the children starting school through a term. Any advise would be great. Thanks :confused:

Hi, we have just had our 189 visa grant :-)) my partner is a carpenter/site supervisor, would it be best to apply for jobs now before we get to Melbourne in October??? Also when is the quite time for trades in oz, and if possible can anyone advise us on rate of pay as it differs so much when we look on seek. Any help would be great thanks.

****VISA GRANTED****8am this morning :-)))))))) we lodged on 1st June police checks and medicals sent & completed 14th June (with no case officer) direct GRANT!!! Thanks everyone for all you advise and good luck xx MELBOURNE HEAR WE COME :-))) :wink::hug: Xx
