  1. Hi cissi, thank you for your response, I'm getting stuck into your advise :-) we are looking at living on bayside in melbourne ( I also like St Kilda but it seems a lot more expensive) we really like modern, contemporary living, with good access to nice shops and restaurants. Oh and not forgetting good schools ( 11 year old and 7) lol. We all enjoy mountain biking, swimming and socialising, which areas would you recommend or not recommend to live? I'm a sports masseur and beauty therapist and hubby is a carpenter/joiner, I'm hoping work is good out there? I would really appreciate yours and other peoples response, as I feel like I'm going round in circles! X
  2. Hi, please can some one advise me. My agent logged our visa (189) on 31 may, we have done police checks and medicals 2 weeks ago ( with out a C/O being allocated) still waiting for a case officer, does any one know how long it's taking to get one? Also I wanted to see how our application is going, I noticed there is a ImmiAccount online which I'm guessing you can check your progress of your visa? I have spoken to our agent as he lodged it for us and he said ' we cannot access this as it's under there login and I would be able to view everyone's visas he is dealing with' is this correct??? Sorry to babble on ... Its been a long day lol :wacko: Also any one going MELBOURNE???
  3. Hi, did you get allocated a case officer? If so how long before you got one?
  4. Hi hawkmoon, yes we did he was sooo funny he really put us at ease. I cannot believe he was 77!! I'm quite new to this forum thing, can you tell??!! I don't get how to look at May 189 thread??? Where are you hoping to head too? My agent said it it can take 8-10 weeks before we get allocated a C/O :-( we lodged on the 31st may, when did you?
  5. Hi shelly, just noticed your partner is a joiner, so is mine :-) We are heading to melbourne hopefully. We have used an agent so they have everything apart from mine and hubby's medicals ( they have the children's) had an email earlier from our agent and it can take 3 months to get a C/O :-/ I personally don't think it will take that long. Good luck with your move, please keep me informed xx
  6. We lodged on 31st may, but as of yet not been allocated a C/O :-( we have had police clearance today and waiting for our meds to be up loaded, should be done by next Monday. I hoping we will get a case officer allocated soooon! Is any one else heading to melbourne? I feel like my life is on hold! Fingers crossed everyone xx
  7. Hi shelly, We have just had our police checks back today :-) we did our medicals yesterday which should be on the system by next Monday in OZ. We haven't been allocated a case officer yet and we lodged on 31st May for a 189 visa ( melbourne ) We really want to go in September, we was advised by our agent to go ahead with meds etc before allocation of a C/O to speed things up, as that's all the C/O is going to ask for. Where are you heading too? Also when are you hoping to head out? Good luck xx
  8. Just had our medicals today at the spire hospital little Aston. The staff are lovely, and the consultant who did the medicals was really funny and put us at ease. Hope fully nothing to worry about. The kids have already been uploaded ( as they don't need bloods and an X-ray) mine and hubby's will be on the system by next Monday, the consultant said we are all ok unless anything comes back wrong with the bloods and X-rays ( hopefully not :-)) . Does any one know how long it is taking for their visas to come through ( 189 ) once all completed? Xx

  10. I only booked ours yesterday for the 16th June. I think it depends on where you go to have them. I think they take bloods for HIV and TB, but I'm not 100% sure. When are you hoping to move to OZ and where? Jx
  11. We have got our medicals their in 2 weeks glad they are ok :-) Did they ask you much? We are going on a 189 visa to Melbourne, where you heading too? Fingers crossed for you. 13. Yipeeeee  Just been invited to lodge for a 189 visa. My partner is a carpenter with 60 points and only had to go 3 rounds! I just wanted to let other people know you can get through on low points - hold in there. I'm hoping someone can answer a couple of questions for me please. Can we do police checks and medicals before we get allocated a co? Also we are not sure if to move to Adelaide or Melbourne? Which place has the most work for a beauty therapist and a carpenter/site Forman? Thanks x
  14. We are currently going through the visa process and hope to move down under some time this year. We are a family of four, with one Girl (11 in August ) and a boy (7 in April). I am a beauty therapist and my hubby is a carpenter, we have both been self employed for many years in the UK but would probably like to be employed in Oz. Before we had the children we spent a year in Oz, we spent most of this time in Sydney which we loved. However, this time we are looking for a more family friendly area. We have heard excellent reports on Melbourne but we are also very interested in Adelaide so would love your comments. Can anyone point us in the right direction so that we can do a bit of research at this end. Where's a family friendly place to live with good schools? Where are the best beaches, parks, leisure centres etc, how's the jobs market? Thanks :biggrin::biggrin: Jenni
