  1. Woo hoo !!!!! Fantastic news...I have been away for a few days and was absolutely thrilled for you when I saw it had come through for you on my return. Happy days.
  2. I had emailed my CO with an address update as we sold the flat and are moving out this weekend to stay with the in-laws...think this must have probably triggered the grant. It came as email just with the grant letter attached. What a fright I got when I saw it, it's very strange how you feel when it finally comes along and you have been waiting so long for it. Anyway am sure that you must be next then vickyplum....have my fingers and toes crossed for you to hear soon. x
  3. OMG....It's happened....I got my visa grant yesterday !!!...over the moon would be an understatement. The 100 I was hoping for as well. Still in shock. Very happy though.

    Which bank?

I opened up a NAB account online in advance of our move and can only say that the whole set up has been extremely efficient. Online banking set up easily and they have helped me transfer funds over in advance from the UK that are now in the ozzie account and we have appointment set for day after we arrive to pick up cards. Highly recommended.
  6. congratulations to all the lucky grant- ee's......its all making me very twitchy though for mine !! Waiting game is getting tedious now.
  7. ....talking of luggage allowances, does anyone know how this works ? We have tickets from newcastle to brisbane with malaysia, that carrier gives me 30kg but I am concerned as the connecting flight from newcastle to heathrow is with BA who have lower allowances. I'm sure that the 30kg is good for all legs as its one ticket, but am questioning myself now. Can someone clarify for me ?
  8. Hello Check out www.helpx.net its an online listing of farms, farmstays, homestays, ranches, lodges, B&Bs, backpackers hostels and loads more interesting places who invite volunteer helpers to stay with them short-term in exchange for food and accommodation. Good luck
  9. Yes, I can totally empathise with the obsessional behaviour that this process encourages...I am guilty too !! We are well and truly committed to emmigrating ( although my partner keeps telling me off and saying that its just ME who is emmigrating, as she is just going home !! ) and have in the last few months sold our flat, handed in notices to jobs and booked flights. All is so totally exciting and fantastic, until I remember that I dont actually have any visa yet - Eek ! Anyway, life certainly isn't dull, which it has felt like it was for a while in the UK. Change is a-coming....hope it will be good.
  10. Hi Vicky Oh, thanks for that. Just had a wee panic !! Great to see your name as I know we began our applications around the same time. I've been trying not to fixate and check this website too often, but now its getting close (fingers crossed) I'm getting obsessive again !! How's your wait been going ?
  11. Hi Everyone, I am awaiting the (hopeful) granting on either a 309 or 100 visa in next few weeks and have flights booked to OZ for June. We saw some great flights to malaysia and so decided to book a holiday for later (august ) after we emmigrate - planning on 7weeks in southeast asia...anyway now am FREAKING out as didn't check if there are any travel restrictions on the 309/100. Fairly certain I'm ok to travel outside australia if I get the 100, but now worried that if I get the 309 I've just wasted money on flights I can't use. Help !
  12. Police checks done and posted for me too....Australian and British certificates sent off to London on 17th dec and medical completed the week before.....now all can do is wait and hope. Gosh, sometimes it feels like time is flying in and other weeks it seems as if the 9 month wait will never come to an end. How is everyone else managing ?
  13. That's great news Vicky...sure you are feeling much better now you have that confirmation just like I did !!....just now a question of being patient until we have to do our medicals. take care
  14. Absolutely vickyplum...yours must be any day now as our applications went in within days of each other. Hope it will be soon for you, wait until you see it in your inbox - I almost had a heart attack even though I was waiting for the damn thing !! take care for now, and lets all keep in touch
  15. Got the email from my CO today....can breathe now !!! He has asked for my addresses for the last 10 years - not sure why, but just this was requested along with information requesting my police checks and medicals. Sure everyone else will hear soon too.
  16. just wondering...the people who have just had case officers assigned - what does the email actually say ? Do they quote an expected time frame for the whole thing ? Is there an explanation of the process at all ? cheers
  17. 309/100 application sent 23/08 Payment taken 27/08 no news of CO yet, but am reassured but joining the thread that all is well, so thanks everyone for sharing !!...much appreciated vickyplum.
  18. Oh well if patience is a virtue then I'm definitely learning to develop it..... this visa process will be turning me into a saint !! Maybe all us august application people can keep in touch and let each other know how everything is going ? Just an idea as might be reassuring... Fingers crossed everyone for us to all hear something soon to know we are underway....
  19. Thanks for the replies....what you say makes a lot of sense. I wonder if I can pick your brains just a little further.... Which documents must I send certified copies of ? I am nervous about sending anything original in case of things getting lost.Obviously the passports/birth certs etc, should be certified copies, but I am unsure if I am sending photocopies of bank statements/council tax/insurances - are these acceptable just as copies or must I get everything certified ? Many thanks ( and my other half thanks you too, as now I am getting my questions answered here I have stopped driving her mad !! )
  20. Thanks so much for the advice...think I will take some out now then and make the paper-pile that is becoming my application a little smaller !! Any recommendations what I can use for evidence of our social commitment - we are mad for holidays so all we really have is lots of holiday proof ie. tickets/photos but I am worried this is too limited ? Thanks.
  21. Hello Hope someone can clarify for me please...we are putting together evidence for a 100/309 application and have a fair bit of proof of joint finances going back nearly nine years. I understand that we must document 3 years to be eligible for the permanent visa, but my questions are this : 1. how many should we provide for each year - every month/quarter/all ? 2. should we just provide the front sheet or every page or every page of the statement ? 3. should we put in 9 years worth as we have the ? maybe I am thinking about all this too much...been in the planning for a while and now need a little help and perspective please
