  6. What are the requirements for a buy to let? Might be looking for a London flat to rent out for a few years while down under Suppose a 40% deposit should make it easier?
  7. "I moved originally to travel and see how things worked out with my boyfriend who I had met in June 2013 whilst travelling the USA." So how is it working out? Have you completed enough travel of Australia ? New Zealand? Asia? Perhaps having a finite time before returning to the UK?
  8. Perhaps the starting point is employment in either? Consideration for job 2 (backup) as well. I have only seen Qld in holiday mode or at one week at a time for work.
  9. In my experience migrants work harder to take up the slack from lazy Australians. This is based on my experience across number of work places, many hard years in executive positions. The reason I make the comment is you have to keep comparing/benchmarking against global practise. If you let your standards drop to 2 hour lunches and letting deadline slip well best luck to you.
  10. Agree, weather is not a negative factor in reviewing Melbourne. You expect chilly mornings in winter, made easier with bright blue skies. Those hot 40+ days are why there are beaches and cold beer. But seriously consider the fluctuations in weather in selecting accommodation. Perhaps the swing in seasons allows more stability for immigrants as often its "be careful what you wish for"
  11. Your better to have some mongrel in you Lucky for me then:wink:
  12. Regards IIO Forgetting the difference in formatting your reference to a annual rent to purchase price is used widely as a return on investment. 13. Your wait and see approach is sensible because your husband knows you better than posters on here. You then may wish to take an extended holiday to see for yourself, perhaps tying in with school holiday and week either side? Key point is Australia has smaller population therefore spread of costs creates higher cost of living. "Different" really is the key, there are positives and negatives in both country. The balance or net depends on what is important to you.
  14. And after that minute back to sunshine
  15. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3207016/Pilot-pulled-burning-wreckage-plane-crashes-Shoreham-Airshow.html Andy (Pilot) was pulled from Wreakage Not just the immediate impact but the fireball after? Just very sad, know that stretch of road after daily commute for several years
  16. Andy was pulled from the wreakage Poor wedding party - they would not of had a chance
