  1. I GOT MY GRANT..................i asked my case office several times before entering aussie if it would be here in time and i was told it wouldnt, then within hours of arriving on shore i was told it was ready for granting when i left the country for 3 days. its like they were waiting for me to get onshore, or just a coincidence, who knows but ive got it and thats all that matters. off to nz it is sooo..............yey
  2. Yes because on the system it should show up that you are in mid process of a permanent visa. Should be fine, I just worry to much some times. How come you had to leave after the first time?
  3. well im flyin to brisbane tomorrow and ive been told im not gettin the grant......ggrrrrrrrhhhhhh. an off shore trip it will have to be then. im going on a 1 way flight to brisbane, hope i dont need onward flight, i have paper work to show i have funds, think that will be orright everyone???? i have holiday visa etc. is that what everyone else is planning if you dont get the grant in time?? thanks
  4. No, as of mid January I hit the 7 month mark, I fly out to Brisbane on the 5th feb, my case office said she'll know more by the end of the month ( January I hope) so I didn't reply back, don't think they like being bothered. Although a little nudge every few months I'm sure there to expect Andy
  5. Good news, when did you apply? My application was received mid June 2013 and I fly to oz 5th of feb, hopin it comes through before then, Savin goin over seas to nz Andy
  6. I used middle sizzled cube, 105 cubic feet think it is, all the measurements are on seven seas website. £570 to pay this end and $402 to pay when received in oz. plus insurance which I decided not to use seven seas's Andy
  7. Hi monkey Lloyd, I sent my cube today, I put 2 mountain bikes and heeps of power tools as I'm a joiner/builder. I'm scrubbed my power tools with dry brushes and got the vacuum in all the gaps and spaces possible. The mountain bikes I pressure washed and got soapy water on the stuborb dirt, I'll let you know how I get on. Andy
  8. Thanks nic, bit dodgy though, if they open it and see brand new stuff, don't want to be landing a fine. Surely they wont tax me on everything new, it's not like I'm lookin at sellin anything.
  9. Hi fifi69, how did you go with customs with things that were less than 12 months old, did you get taxed on anything? Thanks
  10. Hi all above that did use move cube, mine is coming tomorrow and wondering if I'm goin to get taxed for things that I have new,e.g I have a new microwave, trainers, pots and pans etc. am I goin to get taxed on everything new or is it if you bring in lots of the same thing that you might be selling? Any thoughts would be great
  11. Hi all above that used a move cube, mine is arriving on 2nd jan, and I'm wondering about declaring the things that are less than 12 months old, I've got several things, new trainers, new bedding sheets, 1 new power tool just to list a few, if I declare them which I should am I really going to have to pay taxes etc? Your experiences would be great Andy
  12. Good stuff gannon, I am about 3 weeks behind you, my flights are booked for feb 8th 2014, so no major rush but willa still be great to have it granted. The 100 is permanent resident, think I've been considered for that
  13. Good to hear people, what size did you use and how much was it, thanks
  14. Does anybody know to what extent power tools need to be cleaned before sending them to oz, a really good clean by myself, or clean them up then treat them with something, or get somebody to clean and treat them therefore I would have receipt and paper work to show they are free from disease, wood mites etc etc? Thanks
  15. That's a bit **** james, you could still get over there if you were considered for the permanent visa?
  16. For all you above that sent tools to oz, did you clean them or have any specially treated, I'm a carpenter joiner and going to Brisbane in feb, seven seas have told me I need to get wood cuttin tools treated, but they didn't really convince me who or where to get it done, I don't want to just give them a proper clean then get told by oz customs that there going to charge me shed loads to treat them. Make sense?? Thanks
  17. Hi nancy and paul, have you looked into what is needed for cleaning your tools, for example, if takin a chop saw does it have to be specially treated, or a cordless drill cleaned-cleared of saw dust internally. I spoke to a rep at seven seas shipping company and he was tellin me they have to be specially cleaned and treated but couldn't tell me by who, wtf haha. I'm going make some more calls tomoz
  18. Both go out there on a working holiday visa, and find jobs who will hopefully sponsor one of you to stay out there, get married, have babies out there, job done haha. I lived in Brisbane on a working holiday, was quality, going back in feb. if you want to extend your working holiday then you'll have to both go work on farms for 3 months to get a 2nd year working holiday, failin all that you can stay on a student visa if your studying, but you have to do a certain hours per week in the course otherwise you break clause of visa, it's so you can't sign up for a 2 year student course and go do something else, that's what I was told anyway
  19. Hi , what you mean, chop the 110 plugs off and put an ozzy plug on instead? I don't think be able to do that as the motor runs on 110v I think, so it would blow the tool up. Have you gone over with power tools gary? thanks
  20. Brisbane.....boring.......??? I lived south of Brisbane for 14 months and can't wait to go back.
  21. I'm moving to Brisbane in feb 2014, and I'm a joiner-carpenter by trade and not sure wether to take my power tools. Is anyone else in the same boat? The power tools I have are 110v as I have worked on building sites here in the uk and that's what's needed. Id be forever using power adapters and transformers whilst over there. Or do I sell power tools and put it towards new tools when I get there?
  22. They sent back what they didnt need or hav used/copied etc. don't worry to much, just give them any extra stuff they want and try not pestering your CO to much unless really needed, think I emailed mine maybe 3 times about what I thought was important stuff, then on last email I received I was told not to contact her again and wait for visa and not ask her if it's due, work to time frame of 8-9 months. Pretty blunt but to the point
