  2. can anyone help? we're applying for 189 with hubby as main applicant and not claiming any points for my profession however I am a qualified midwife (16 yrs) and will want to practise in Australia. as far as I can understand it I will need to register with ahpra but won't need skills assess with anmac. is this correct? is skills assess only reqd for the actual visa application? help please! also how soon should I register, will oh need to get the visa through first, ie how long does the LOE "last" for before it must be activated? many thanks you lovely helpful people, J x x
  3. Hi everyone, can anyone clarify my situation?we're applying for 189 with husband as main applicant- getting assessed by accountancy body. We're not claiming any points for my qualification (midwife) but I will want to practice when we get the kids settled. Do I need to apply to anmac and aphra or just aphra. I am figuring that anmac would assess my skills if I was on the visa application but am not needing this....am I?! Sorry for being a thicko! J :->
  4. I have trawled their website and the only fee I could find was the skills assessment at 475 dollars, thanks and good luck all :-)
  5. How much extra is it to have CPA assess work experience? thanks, j
  6. You have to prove your English language capability in order to have a skills assessment before lodging expression of interest,starlight7
  7. Ill remind him that he's had practice when he calms down about this! We live 3 hrs away from test centre so had to pay for over night accomodation aswell as the test fee- £200 down the drain d'oh! j x
  8. He needed more than 7 but the CPA (accounting)website says they will not accept general ielts - it says it in the FAQ in weeny print - not on the main page where it just says ielts. This is why I booked the general aargh!
  9. Cant see him smiling about it for a while! Daren't ask him when he wants to resist!not a great start to our adventure!!
  10. Well done you - OH got 8.5 overall but I'd unwittingly booked him onto the general test and he needed the academic test- needless to say he's not happy with me today :-(
  11. [h=2]Ielts results - I've messed up![/h] OH just got his ielts results 8.5 overall so v happy however I booked the test under the impression he needed general training and have just realised he needs academic training for accountancy skills assessment aargh im guessing he's going to have to do the whole lot again? Anyone any experience of stupidity??! Needless to say I'm in the dog house j x
  12. Why are you needing to sit exams? Is it that you didn't have the core modules? Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine :-)
  13. http://ironladyimports.com/ Not used them as yet but these guys seem to know what they're on about, will be getting in touch with them nearer the time to transport our car, hope this helps j
  14. Good luck, we're in the same boat. My hubby has just sat IELTS (Saturday) and then were applying for 189 - if skills assessment and eoi come back positive. He's also an accountant so trying to sort out stuff for CPA. were a family of five (plus dog!) and hoping to head to Adelaide ( or wherever works dictates) hope all works out for you, j :-)
  15. Fantastic rupert thanks for that. He currently works for the government in nuclear decommissioning and I would hope that was not classed as "shaky experience". cheers :-)
  16. Hope you can help. My other half is main applicant for 189 visa and need accounting skills assessed with CPA, just looking at their website and supporting documents required which all seems fairly self-explanatory but what does the part which says "applying for assessment of employment claims for skilled employment purposes" mean? Does he need to include a signed testimonial with the application for each job he has had in the accounting sector in order to have his skills assessed? It's just it goes on to say CPA will only assess employment claims if you have received a suitable skills assessment. Sorry but I'm confused!! thanks in anticipation.......
  17. [h=2]Calling midwives for advice please![/h] Hi there, hoping to come out to Adelaide on pr visa (hubby as main applicant) in autumn 2014. I am a midwife with 15 years experience and although at first I will have to be a full time mum, I will still be looking for some bank/agency shifts. Anyone any idea on the availability of work such as this? I am direct entry trained so would not be looking for general nursing, only midwifery. Also with regards to registering with ahpra- do we need to get our visa sorted before applying for this? Thanks in anticipation for any advice.......... J
  18. Congratulations, my oh has his next week so keeping fingers crossed than we can get on with skills assessment too (accountancy)good luck with your skills assessment :-)
  19. Thanks for that post, hubby about to sit IELTS then apply for skills assess with CPA (acca qualified) this post really helps us, J x
  20. Feeling really down after having house valued yesterday and finding out if we sell it now we will lose 100k on what we have spent on it. Was hoping to sell and buy outright in oz but that ain't happening. Wondering wether to rent it out however due to shitty uk property market the rental pcm won't cover the outstanding mortgage on it so we will have to rent in oz and top up the mortgage at home too ! I can see my dreams disappearing fast :-(
  21. Thanks guys, not sure what would be the best! Am guessing Perth may not be the best idea if we opt for Australia! Need to do much more homework....... J x
  22. You made me chuckle! We fancied Perth too but is it that behind??! (Also fancy Adelaide) cheers J x
  23. Thanks everyone, lots of food for thought! No hubby doesn't yet have a job offer but we wouldn't contemplate UAE or oz unless he had a confirmed job. Was thinking in terms of visa it may be quicker than all the formalities of applying for oz however I think my heart is really set on oz. hubby's mum is all alone and UAE seemed a gentler departure on her than oz! And we thought it may be a stepping stone. It's great to get advice from people with experience. IELTS and skills assessment here we come I think! J x
  24. Great advice thanks folks, think we were swaying more to UAE in respect of the ease and speed which we could get there -as opposed to oz but not sure what would be the best family-wise. Maybe we should do UAE and travel from there to oz to suss it out? thanks again, J x
