  1. We received our first country PCC in May 2012 and second country October 2012. We got the visa in January 2013 and was told to enter the country by December 2013. Guess it all depends on your co.
  2. We also did a declaration for our assessment. We did not have an employer sign it as we are on the other side of the world. We included the initial contract and a payslip. We had no problems or questions asked. Our agent also sent us a template for the declaration.
  3. I traveled with a 7 and 5 year old. They were very good, despite my concerns. I also packed them each a backpack with some of their favourite small toys- -they did not even open it! The flights give the kids a goodies bag which entertained them somewhat, but with the inflight entertainment - priceless, I did not even know I had children flying with me. I ordered a good old red wine with dinner and put a movie on
  4. Hi citation560XL We only did our activation trip to Darwin and we wish to eventually stay there. Although we did apply for a job, we did not get it. It seems you need to be licensed to even stand a chance. The NT SS site also mentions mandatory registration (ame's don't register as far as I know, unless you want to register with recruitment agencies) or a license. It would be in your best interest to obtain your license if you don't already have it. They will ask you for evidence of job opportunities in you ss application, I did not see one for a non -licensed ame's when I was looking in NT ss last year. You not applying directly for ss?
  5. We loved Darwin. Were very skeptical in the beginning. But turns out Darwin is like a country side "city" lots of outdoor activities to do and absolutely beautiful scenery. It is just very humid, but bearable. The people are very friendly and welcoming. NT really needs to be given more credit.
  6. AME Avionics is on the schedule 2 list for WA. http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/SiteCollectionDocuments/WASMOL%20Schedule%202.pdf The additional requirement of having a job offer if you reside outside of WA is not a requirement - I received an email from them confirming this as I inquired about it myself. Get cracking with your application before they update again.
  7. Whoop, whoop, we have been granted our visa this morning! Invite 15 November 2012 Applied 18 November Medicals 10 December Visa granted 15 January
  8. Don't kill them. When you kill a female, she automatically lays eggs. Throw some Borax down along the floors skirtings in the kitchen, oven and any place where it is warm/moist. Borax is a safe repelent for them. Should be able to find them at most grocery stores.
  9. Your usual country of residence should have been Japan, not Bangladesh.
  10. I had a chest x-ray done within the first 6 weeks of my first pregnancy. They covered me with a lead apron and all was good. My daughter was born with no problems and scored a 10 on her apgar test.
  11. There seems to be a problem with the invites this time round, no-one received an invitation, regardless of your score
  12. Mix half a bottle of baby oil and 1/4 dettol. Apply especially on places like feet and behind knees and elbow joints and neck. Works like a charm.
  13. A license won't make a difference with the cost, only if you already hold a qualification gained in Australia. They also took the payment off all at once (before we even received a result for paper assessment) and not only after a successful paper assessment. Here is the link that will give you all the info you will require. http://www.vu.edu.au/higher-ed-tafe/tafe-and-vocational-education/visa-skills-assessments/offshore-skills-assessment-program
  14. not sure what your wife's assessment costs, but yours will cost over AUD3500.00. You can only do it through Victoria University. You will need the Aeroskills IV certificate to apply for jobs, so you will probably have to do it in anyway - for the future.
  15. My occupation(current Anzco code) is on the SOL 1 and i have 60 points but have already submitted an EOI for a state sponsored visa, can this be easily changed? Yes, simply click the 189 box and you will be considered for the invite, depending on your date of effect. Currently 60 pointers are only on 2 July. With no announcement yet from DIAC, no-one knows how many invitations will be made available in November.
  16. Ours also got returned as invalid due to the fact that TRA no longer assessed my OH trade, it was now out-contracted to Victoria University. They sent the payment back and all the documents. Price went up from $300 to over $3500. We eventually got a successful outcome with VU.
  17. We are in the same boat. I emailed them and this is their reply: Hello If you studied in Australia or you are applying from another state then you will br required to provide a full time offer of employment with your application.
