  1. Hi, After 4 years of debating about emigrating, we decided to go for it two weeks ago. Only then we found our my OH's occupation was to be removed from the SOL on 1st July. I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to determine if there are any other sponsored visa options open to us. I've looked at all of the state migration plans and can only find his job on the NT list (we really want Qld or WA but would also consider Vic). The migration agents I've spoken to haven't been able to give me any answers - one assured me he is on the state sponsored list for WA but I've checked and can't find his job on their list of occupations anywhere. Another promised to look over his CV and get back to us when she finds time. The rest fobbed me off by directing me back to their websites or asking me to call back later in the year to see if the states update their wanted lists. We really want to get things moving asap if there is still a chance we can go. Does anyone have any advice on what we can do? Is it possible to approach states directly to consider him even if his occupation isn't on their skills in demand list? Is there a certain time of year the states update their skill requirements? Any advice would be appreciated.
  2. Hi everybody! I got my 175 visa last month and now trying to decide where to land in Australia. It seems that it's going to be quite difficult to find an aircraft maintenance or avionics job in the Oz, so I'd like to increae my chances by going to the right state. I know that Victoria sponsors AMEs, but a Quantas Heavy Maintenance Base in Melbourne was shut down a while ago and so there still might be many unemployed AMEs looking for a job in VIC. Looking at seek.com.au it seems that there are positions in QLD, so maybe it's better to go to Brisbane? I'm really confused. Can anyone help me with a useful piece of advice? Thank you so much! If someone has contacts in any Australian airline or MRO or is an aviation employer themselves, I'd be more than happy to send you my CV, a cover letter, AML, qualifications and any other documents you may require. I'm a Licensed AME (Avionics - B2) here in Russia, but I'm undoubtedly ready to start it all over again and work as a ground handling mechanic or a baggage handler. I will then certainly try to convert my license to CASA B2 as I'm eligible for CTC assessment. I'm just limited in money, so I can't be looking for a suitable job for a long time. Any help is deeply appreciated. Thank you very much.
  3. Hi all I was wondering if anyone else on here works in the aviation industry. My job is primarily to plan pilots' rosters (using specific software), manage their leave (using a database system), and also plan and organise their training, produce reports, publish rosters, manage and edit crew database, liaise with other relevant departments and crew, etc. My job has a different name in every airline, but can be Rostering Officer, Crew Planner, etc. Is anyone else in a similar role? I'm having trouble finding a job on the list that fits this description. I think it's probably somewhere between 231199 Air Transport Professionals and 511112 Program or Project Administrator. Would love to chat to any other airline professionals out there! :radar:
  4. Hi all, Here in the UK I am a firefighter at our local airport and was wondering if any one over in OZ was doing a similiar role at Brisbane Airport or one of the smaller ones near by. Heres hoping !
  5. Random question I know - however here goes -Are there any Airport firefighters working at Brisbane Airport ? Or any other airports in OZ Cheers Nick

    Aviation Security

Hi Has anyone else looking into security jobs in oz come up with the same problem as me? Plenty of people saying it would be easy to get a job offer with my aviation security experience but with all of oz requiring any security workers to hold a licence and I cannot apply for this as the licence application states must have residency. Talk about chasing my tail!!! If anyone has any sugestions of how to get round this would it be good to hear from you. cheers :arghh: Amanda
