  1. Thanks Kungfustu, I think I'm just having a little wobble today for the first time!! Good luck to you guys too
  2. I have to agree, I guess whatever we experience, its all experience and will help our kids to understand the world better. I want them to spread their wings and learn and I guess I have to make sure I do plenty of research (which I am doing all the time!) and make the best informed decision I can. It all enriching and I know deep down this is a journey we need to take as a family and will hopefully be the best adventure of our lives!! Thanks for your comments
  3. Hi Harpodom Yeah I get that, its human nature I guess, but its the point scoring type of arguments I am referring to that don't help anyone Thanks for your reply
  4. Thanks for your post Jhampa Makes sense to me
  5. Kungfustu my post wasn't in reply to your earlier post if thats what you were thinking? My comments weren't in response to yours so please don't accuse me of being one of those naive people who only want to listen to the positive, because believe me thats not true, I want to hear it all warts and all because I am a very cautious person but the point I was making was that reading the thread it felt like some people were being very defensive, some towards the UK some towards Oz for their own personal reasons and some have got into a battle with each other which isn't very helpful to the likes of me who just want to know the facts without any prejudice.
  6. Hi Joanne I kinda feel this huge pressure that by moving the kids to the other side of the world away from their family and friends it has to be for the good of them. My kids are doing really well in school and so the eduation system is a real issue to me that I need to do some serious research into as this is their future I'm playing with. If this was just me and my OH then the pressure would be off and if it didn't work out so be it but as with all parents, I just want to do right by the kids. I want them to have the best possible opportunities available to them and I guess they will find opportunities wherever they are if they want them. I think I'm just having a wobble realising the enormity of what we're doing and hoping that the its the best decision for the kids. Of course I know that oz has issues and problems of its own but when people post things like outside most hardware stores there are teenagers high as kites sniffing glue, alarm bells start ringing. Joanne I'm someone who finds decision making difficult so as you can imagine this is enormous for me, but I know dep down its the right thing to do but because of who I am, when I see negative stuff I start retreating! Do you have children with you? Thanks
  7. Thanks Joanne, I think you're right
  8. Kungfustu Thanks for your sarcastic reply! If you re-read my post you will see that I am realistic about the fact that oz is not heaven and has its own problems thankyou. I did say "I guess it depends where exactly you live same as it does in UK" There are some really very genuine helpful people on this site but then others.......
  9. Hi Lancashire Lass When did you emmigrate to Perth? Is the education system the reason you are moving back to the UK or are there other factors too? We have 2 kids and education in one of my concerns. Have you tried different schools? Glad you have enjoyed your time there and I wish you all the best back in the UK
  10. Hi all I have to say this thread has my head spinning!! I am really concerned now about all of the negative posts regarding how it will be for the kids. As everyone of you on here knows, deciding to move your family to the other side of the world is a huge huge decision but one we've considered and contemplated and came to the conclusion we think its the right thing to do. However, with all these posts about how much worse oz is for drugs, alcohol etc etc, for the 1st time in this whole process, doubts have started to creep in. My son is 10 and so depending on when we emmigrate, may get 1 year in primary school in oz then go to high school, so is at a very impressionable age and a critical one educational wise. I guess it all depends where exactly you live, same as it does here but we have to get this right 1st time as we can't keep swapping and changing the kids schools if we don't like an area, that just wouldn't be fair. But seriously do I just ignore this thread and just think life is what you make it and theres god and bad in both countries. This is a life changing decision for my kids and I want it to be the right one! Why can't everyone just say how it really is without being biased?? Sometimes feels like people are trying to point score here Rant over!!
  11. Yes you're right Val! I must focus on the positive and what has gone right and not on what hasn't gone quite so well!! This is a hard process to put yourself through isn't it!! :goofy:
  12. Hi Estie Well we DID get an email from NSW yesterday after all!!! They have found my OH application and have sent us a reference number which is great news, however the date of receipt has been lodges as 6th July. I am disappointed as we paid extra money for our forms to be couriered but in effect took 2 weeks to get there - would have been quicker in normal post. I think I am going to check if my agent did actually use the courier - nothing would surprise me with them!!! Anyhow at least we have a NSW reference number!! Keep us posted with your progress
  13. Congratulations Destination Journey!!! Fabulous news for you!!
  14. Wow congratulations Dinkydoo!!!! That must feel great - sounds like you deserved a bit of good luck! Hope it goes smoothly this time for you :em3600:
  15. Yes got tracking ref number but only the agent can access this and trying to get hold of her is like trying to speak with the queen. I think as I'm being proactive she just leaves me to it and concentrates on other clients. Very miffed at the help we've had for the amount of money we've paid. Anyway didn't hear from NSW overnight and have been ringing them since early this morning but just goes to answer machine. So another weekend of stressing ahead!!! I will try to contact the courier company myself though I think see if I get anywhere. Thanks for your help Estie, I'll keep you posted x
  16. I agree, Lebourvellec you area font of knowledge and have answered many a question of mine!! You are very helpful!!
  17. Thanks for that Estie I have sent an email tonight asking them if they have received my OH application that was sent by courier on 23rd June. They should have received it by now surely? Little concerned because of the bankers draft. Hope they get back to me overnight else I'll be stressing all weekend!
  18. Thanks Katiem that clarifies! However we did the same as you, submitted everything BY COURIER on 23rd June hoping to beat 1st July. Couriers said docs would arrive there on 25th June but neither us or our agents have heard anything from NSW. I will need to chase them now! Thanks Katiem
  19. Hi Katiem Sorry I'm lost!! (Easily done!) You submitted your NSW state sponsorship on 25th June - is this what they approved in their email yesterday? You say that they told you your 190 had been lodged - does that mean they open an application for you and give you the ref number then you can complete and submit? Thanks
  20. Hi Candygirl. Sorry to hear that news. You must feel gutted but don't give up, where theres a will theres a way. If DIAC say you have everything they need apart from the positive assessment from TRA then you will find a way around this, its not the end of the road. I can't comment on the PR situation but surely if you get a sponsor and work for a number of years then you will eventually get PR? This is the route I'd be taking I think. Bombard your OH's CV to every company possible. All you need is for 1 of them to be interested. Stay positive and stick with it.
  21. Wow it states that visa subclass 190 will be processed within 4 weeks?!! Lets hope they can achieve that! :em3600:
  22. Hi Katiem and Est When did you submit your NSW state sponsorship application? I can't see that they have amended anything yet but they have informed me that they will update their website by the end of the week. Let us know if you hear anything on your application or on their revised process please and I'll do the same! Thanks
  23. Many congratulations Zerocool, a very happy day for you!! :jiggy:
  24. Hi For the writing task 1 my OH had to write a letter to a friend telling him about a business idea he had and had to try to persuade him/her to do it with him. Writing task 2 was to give his opinion on whether less time should be spent in school on physical education and more on academic subjects. In his speaking test he had to talk about something which he'd got excited about (!!!) and then had to discuss extreme sports Good luck! If you've practiced lots then I'm pretty sure you will be fine!
  25. August???? Thats 29 days away, do they know just how long even 1 day feels when you're checking and checking and checking!!! Oh please let my OH be on the 1st round of invites!!! This is agony already
