  1. OFFSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 143/173) When your application is allocated to an assessing officer, you or your authorised contact may be asked to provide more documents, including but not limited to, Assurance of Support (subclass 143 only), police certificates and health clearances to finalise your application. We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 30 July 2014. ONSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 864 and 884) When your application is allocated to a case officer, you or your authorised contact will be asked to provide more documents, including but not limited to Assurance of Support (subclass 864 only), police certificates and health clearances to finalise your application. We are currently assessing applications lodged up to 27 May 2016. TEMPORARY TO PERMANENT APPLICANTS (subclass 173 to 143 and 884 to 864) When your application is allocated to a case officer, you or your authorised contact will be asked to provide more documents including but not limited to Assurance of Support, police certificates and health clearances to finalise your application. We are currently assessing applications lodged up to 4 February 2016. The TR to PR processing date hasn't moved in weeks but the other dates are moving a tad faster than usual. They may have assigned more resources to first time applications. Which is good as people on TR visas are already in the country.
  2. I tried this, they wouldn't even let me pick Rural WA let alone another State.
  3. Some people were told on the spot by the CO but most get a letter in the mail a week or two later. I got mine about 2 weeks after my test date. As for ceremony dates, really depends on the council. Mine said sometime in January potentially.
  4. Congratulations @leanie Feels like only a few months ago that I was in the PR process. Time sure does fly. Wonder what the rest of the March 2012 gang is doing.
  5. If she is on a 804, wouldn't she have medicare direct? If she is on a bridging visa, would be interested to know how the system works for non permanent-residents?
  6. Hi @leanie Have to take originals of all the documents that were used as evidence in the application. They seem to be checking identity from home country and local documents. Local documents were easy. I got my birth certificate laminated a few years ago. The CO said, it's much harder to verify authenticity if it's laminated and asked me if I had any more documents. I didn't have any on me at the time but seems to have worked out. So if you have any other identity documents then take them with you. The test is super easy to say the least. Do the questions from the official pdf, have a play of the youtube videos and off you go. Good luck. I did have a try of these unofficial test websites - some of the questions are not part of the testable content so don't worry if you don't get them all http://www.aussiecitizenshiptest.com/free-test/1 http://www.theaustraliantest.com/free-test/
  7. What's the current processing time in getting a lodgement date after PVC received a CPV 143 application? PS: There used to be a parent visa tracker at gainwave. It doesn't seem to work any more. Any other trackers out there?
  8. @stirlingperth As many times as you want. Request a callback, wait for them to call you and straight away say what your current test date is and that you are wondering if there are any earlier dates. They won't even bother asking your details most of the time and directly check their system for you.
  9. That's terrible. I called around. BUPA has it at ridiculous prices, justifying it by saying that they cover a few useless extras. Australian Unity pulled the cover down. Was told to call a few weeks later in case a new one will take it's place. Medibank don't insure people on 405 The only good one so far is HCF. They are insuring 405s with the same policy as 457s, which is pretty comprehensive and top hospital cover costs $240/month. I am seriously worried about the future of 405, if there are such small numbers in the country.
  10. Asking for a relative: Anyone on a 405 visa? There seems to be some changes to health insurance requirements and compliant policies from providers have been pulled - possibly for a review?
  11. With the new temporary parent visa in the pipeline and recommendations from Productivity Commission to double contributory parent visa fees. Any news/insight into a potential fee rise announcement during the mid year budget review in December?
  12. Congratulations! https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/centrelink/assurance-support Time periods Depending on the type of visa granted, an Assurance of Support can last for 2 or 10 years. The period starts from the date your assuree arrives in Australia or the date the visa is granted, whichever is the later date. You must notify us once your assuree has either arrived in the country or been granted the visa. Generally, your assuree and any of their dependants won’t be able to claim payments from us in this period. An Assurance of Support remains active until the end of the Assurance of Support period (2 or 10 years), even if your assuree has become exempt from the 2 year waiting period that is required for most income support payments. There are no exemptions from the Assurance of Support provisions, and becoming an Australian citizen does not cancel the Assurance of Support period. If your assuree, or any of their dependants, receives any of the income support payments that are recoverable under the Assurance of Support scheme during the Assurance of Support period, the assurer must repay this money. The Assurance of Support can’t be cancelled due to events such as financial hardship, breakdown in relationships or if you become an Australian citizen. If an assuree dies before arriving in Australia, or at any time during the Assurance of Support period, the Assurance of Support will be cancelled.
  13. Anyone with any insight into when the parent visa 2nd VAC fee will be hiked? Things seem to be in motion for BIG changes based on PC's migration report
  14. Except for the tedious application form and long delay for the test date. It was smooth sailing. Fingers crossed for you to get a test date soon.
  15. Hey @leanie sorry to hear about your woes with the application process. The application does seem unnecessarily long for what seems like information they already have. My approval letter came through. Now for the last step, wait for the council to book me into a ceremony.
  16. Congratulations. I took my test last Tuesday. Yet to receive a letter. Is yours dated 24th or 18th?
  17. @wrussell That's a pretty steep bump in prices. Any idea on when they might take affect?
  18. Add to the fact that a CPV is taking upto 2 years and will only get worse in the coming years.
  19. My test date is in early November. I applied 2 weeks ago. Not much luck in rescheduling so far. Something happened in Perth, the lady on the phone said she thought Perth was like in September or something but didn't realize it filled up till November.
  20. Yeah I've been calling them every now and then to check but not much luck. Would you be able to PM me the link where you re-scheduled online? I don't think it's available in Perth yet.
  21. Anyone from Perth who got the test date recently? I applied last week and my test date is first week of November. Called to check if I can reschedule and they say they don't have any openings before then? 3.5+ months for the test, this is insane.
  22. Was it a paper application? That's quite a long time to get the test date email.
  23. Does each state process citizenship applications at their local office or is it all done centrally?
  24. At least 600 places /month to make up for the 7175 places per year. With the ever increasing delay in processing, I would put the current number at 800 application places on average. With a 30 year wait time for non contributory visas, I suspect that number could go up to 1200+/month in 2 years and the processing time will double to 4 years.
  25. Something like an E3 visa should be in order. I read that about 100,000 Aussies are at risk of losing their visa trying to meet the ever increasing requirements.
