  1. Climate change is just part of a cycle that as VS stated is not yet really understood. We all know there was an ice age not so long ago, so was this caused by aliens driving V8's. Or by industry? Um nope because there was no man made factors then so the only proof we have of anything is that like the yearly cycle of seasons this also happens on a grander scale over a longer period of time but lets not let facts get in the way.
  2. You cant use your partners allowance. If you work on an ABN you could find a rort but not as an employee. I earn around that bracket but my wife does not work as we have young kids and another on the way. Currently we get Family tax part B which gives us a small amount per fortnight but this stops after June as the limit drops below 100K. By the time I pay tax my take home is not that great and as others have stated 2 low earners would be better off than 1 decent earner whose partner stays at home to look after children and does not get welfare from the state for child care or famliy tax benefit.
  3. He wont earn that kind of money in the metro area only FIFO, and those jobs are few and far between now as loads of mines are closing making people redundant. He will also have to pay for some retraining and be restricted while he does this training. He will be lucky to get 50-70k for a first job here. Don't come to Perth expecting to land a well paid job.
  4. You can have extras on its own. That's what we have with HBF $40 pm for a family of 4, Ambulance, Dental and Chiro. Only I work so we don't earn over $176K so have never felt the need to pay $300 pm for insurance that has gap payments. Better to save the money and pay if needed but that's just my opinion.
  5. I am sure someone will be along just now to tell us its OK, there's still a shortage of brickies......................
  6. Give it 6 months and there will be a huge surplus of brickies and they will be fighting for $200 per day.
  7. Have to agree with flag about everybody in bed by 9 here! I live 20km from CBD and our chippy shuts at 7.30 the local pub kicks you out about 9 if its quiet. Perth is very much an early to bed get up early place. In most cities in Europe there is life in the evenings here its dead. For me its fine as I have young kids but I would hate to live here if i was in my early 20s. Yes there is nightlife but the 'busy' places consist of a few bars and restaurants and not much else. To go on a pub crawl here you would need a taxi between each bar!
  8. Do not go by jobs on seek! There are always plenty of jobs on there but only a few may be real. Be aware as a spark you will do a years gap training. Most people seem to be paid $30ph for this possibly less and it can be hard to find employment. Not a very positive answer but an honest one.
  9. Bit of a non story that seeing as we already pay 37% of every dollar we earn over $80000?? I am pretty sure By 2039-40 the tax allowances will have increased!
  10. Are shorter courses in England really better? Strange they are differant lengths if endorsed by NHS. One would think the course material was the same.
  11. Are some of the top uni's not in Scotland and free to you? If you go to England you pay. seems a no brainer to me.
  12. Have not read all the ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but didn't the OP complain Perth was too hot so why does he want the UK hotter?
  13. If taxi driving was well paid there would be plenty of Ozzies driving cabs. Every cab I have got in has been Indians mostly (usually skilled) or Asians apart from one on christmas day, he was an older Serbian guy. Think that paints the real picture.
  14. It can be very hard for new migrant sparks to get work. The years gap training does not help as most employers would prefer a 21yo with a license than a guy from the UK with 20 odd years experience without a license. I should know as i was one of the first to do this joke training and a lot of the guys in my class got paid peanuts. Not to mention the fact that someone just arriving does not have a network of contacts to help get them a job. Some of the posters on this post have no idea what it is like for people in this situation. Arriving recently is very differant from a few years back.
  15. The only reason I have foxtel is for fox sports and setanta the rest is utter garbage.
  16. I do find this hard to believe. I pay $510 pw rent to live in a nice suburb 20Km from CBD to buy here would cost $550k-$600k. Lets say i had $100k to put down and borrowed $450k then my repayments would be $2457 pm not including LMI a slight increase even with large deposit and that's before i take into account rates etc.
  17. OK OK i give in I will move to Yanchep and work FIFO leave the family in the middle of nowhere I mean up and coming utopia, then I can come on here and tell everyone how wonderful Perth is and that all their dreams will come true when they come here and flame anyone who dares to suggest new migrants coming now might struggle. Or maybe i can carry on living where I am in the real world telling the honest truth not my version of it. I cant list every house above $500k in a decent area with decent schools so as to back up my sweeping generalization, but I can link median house price by suburb http://reiwa.com.au/Research/Pages/Price-growth-by-suburb.aspx. Not many desirable suburbs below 500k is there?
  18. Well I have to go to bed as i need sleep to make sure I perform at my highly paid job that ain't in Joondaloup, but maybe you might answer my questions by tomorrow without the response cock or liar!
  19. Would i be hip if i worked in Joondalop and bought a house in Yanchep?
  20. Probably because i never said that, but hey don't let facts get in the way of your vendetta against me............ NEXT!!!
  21. Yeah its full of cocks who lie and read the sun. generally the work in the welding or electrical industry as well. But the have been know to work in retail and nursing too.
  22. Well according to my page you are one of the last visitors.........? Work will keep coming in for me thanks because I have a good skillset but aren't you going a bit off topic here? Looking for reasons to get one over me when you still haven't even managed to back up your original argument that set you off?
  23. Probably not as if you look at my post history you can see I post in the Spark threads offering advice
  24. I said the majority of work was CBD or South yes there will always be service work where houses are that much is obvious. That still only makes up a small percentage of Perths workforce working around Joondaloup
  25. I am a sparky. And no i don't work in domestic as the money there is piss poor before you say there's loads of work for sparks in house building oop north
