  1. Thanks for that bit of info rockDr--we too are in the same boat--we've gone for the ENS but with the recent backlog could take ages so now applying for the 457!
  2. Hi there! How did you activate your TRN? Do u have to wait for medicals or can you go ahead and book it?BTW are u applying from the UK? Cheers.
  3. tried stayz--most of them are bondi or CBD kind of areas--shall try take a beak. The thing is most of the holiday lets are in places where people would like to go for a holiday to:tongue:! So its either near the beach or harbour! Hopefully will find something.Last resort will be phoning these gumtree guys! Hope it dosent come to that!
  4. We are a bit flexible with re. to dates as we havent yet booked our flights.--basically we need it from some time in september--say the middle of sept. --Do you know of any property?
  5. I'm going crazy sending replies to ads in gumtree--saw many suitable short term lets in sutherlandshire--near cronullla, miranda etc. Unfortunately no replies. Most of the other short term lets are in the heart of the city or near bondi beach--which is no good. need a place for 2-4 wks to check out the areas and schools and decide. Furnished or minimally furnished is Ok--i don't mind sleeping on the floor/duvets if it will get us there! If there are serious offers i can get someone to come and check it out before we reach If you would like that as my husbands employer has promised help of that kind. Areas we are looking at are Como/OysterBAy, miranda, cronulla,, panania, revesby picnic point, illaowng, menai, in order of preferance or any other suburb close to any of these.
  6. what about oyster Bay--have heard good things about it--definitely a family area.
  7. Hi pomprincess--You can get houses in the southern suburbs of sydney for 650/wk and some even less. Check out panania, revesby, riverwood etc--they are all on the trainline as well.
  8. A big well done to you and family. Do keep us updated with life down under-- looking forward to hearing more.
  9. Anyone else on here who applied online after July 1st?--How did you get the ehealth forms if I may ask? Was there an option whilst uploading the docs?
  10. How have you resolved your medical issue? I'm having the same problem--at least similar. MY MA lodged the application and gave me the TRN number. here in the UK they are unable to book my medicals as the TRN is not coming up on the ehealth system. Since then I've been reading the immi website and it seems one should print out some forms during the application process itself. Just wondering if you came across any option of form download or anything while uploading your application? Because obviously my MA has failed to do that.
  11. Okay! I'm a happily married mum of 3. I love my kids and family life etc etc etc. But--I've always wanted to be single before I got married! Still in some corner of my heart I cherish a lot of upsides to it. For one I don't mind paying for my massages--that way I get a professional one and the masseuse will 'listen' to me. I would love the peace and quiet that comes with it and probably could have pursued my education further( I dream of one day doing my PHD). I don't mind being single as I could lie in bed all day and play bubble breaker if I so wished. In actual fact I could do 'anything' or nothing at all if I was single. I would have had no one to answer too, could leave all the dishes dirty, never would have had to wake up during the night-----Ooooooooh--this list is getting exhaustive--guess its time to turn that time machine on! Ciao! Just one more thing--there is an upside to being 'double'--I'm a kept woman--yeah--don't have to fend for myself!:cute:
  12. I was looking at these areas as well.--From what I hear Panania and picnic point are reasonable family areas--so is Como/oysterbay. currently i'm struggling to find a school for my kids--guess I would have to go over and visit a few before that.
  13. A very catchy tune. i've previously heard a parody of this song--its about kerala in india where men wear a garment called the 'lungi'--its like a sarong tied around the waist.
  14. Aphra could take about 4 weeks--sometimes sooner. 457 varies--some get it within days but 2-3 weeks seems kind of average. best of luck.
  15. Hearing it for the first time-- an awesome song.
  16. Thank you mylady!:notworthy:
  17. Big sunnies, a straw hat and flipflops! Oh sorry--THONGS! + bermuda shorts and a sleeveless vest.
  18. Hi there, I am truly sorry that you are having to go through this so soon after arrival. I'm not a cardiologist but just trying to see if I can be of help. I gather your son had an ECHo--is he symptomatic for his cardiac defect? the main thing you need to know is whether his heart condition even requires a surgery and what his prognosis is. therefore he needs to be seen by a paediatric cardiologist or at least by a cardiologist. Rather than seeing this particular doctor privately is it possible to get a referral to see someone in your local hospital? Your hospital will have a list of the doctors who work there and their specialities. Hopefully you will be able to get re-referred and see someone soon who will be able to put your mind at ease.
  19. <p><p>Absolutely thrilled for you. It must be wonderful to see your family esp when they are spread out around the globe when it can get difficult.! Seems 2012 is working out for you great ways. How are things on the job front?</p></p>

  20. Was looking at rentals in oatley and many came up that were in mortdale and penshurst. Are they family friendly areas as well?
  21. Hi teamgb, I'm sure more people will soon be along to help you better. But here's what I've gathered from reading posts in this regard on here. 70K in the western burbs is doable. Clarify with your employer whether they would pay super on top of that or not. The main expense is rent. Depending on what you are looking for--unit/house--check out the rents in areas you would like to live. Then calculate what you take home everyday would be. The main differing factor of expenses with re. to Sydney and the rest of the country is the rent. Food etc it is possible to shop wisely and spend less. I don't imagine you maybe able to afford too much of a going out etc lifestyle but hopefully a modest living is possible.
  22. Whr are u flying to Shell?
  23. Funny one that! Making the best of a poor situation!
  24. <p><p>thanks for the rep munchkins--just saw it now!:em4400:</p></p>
