  1. Visited Stradbroke on our reccy, can't wait to go back!
  2. Thats reassuring. It's all very exciting right now. My 18 year old is really into long boarding. We all love walking & outdoor pursuits so it's sounds like it'll suit us really well. I've been looking at the gated developments nearby, what are your thoughts on what streets to live in? It's the great unknown that worries me. The area we live in now supposedly had a bad reputation but was the best move we ever made!! aghhh, so much to think about, I need some sleep, lol!
  3. Would be be grateful for the hire car details. We're booked in at Bayview apartments, was all I could get. Really reassuring knowing that you did it all just a few months before. Light at the end of the tunnel and all that
  4. Thank you. Will be there with a chilled bottle ready to greet you . Dee xx
  5. Clockwork! Only on paper. It's seriously been a full time job pulling all this together. Never again!!! Glad your reccy went well.
  6. Ok, here's where we're at right now. Complete sale of house on 15th Sept. Crown removals booked for the 1st Sept. flights booked for the 16th with Singapore Airlines, arrive Brisbane 18th. Temp accommodation in Biggera Waters for two weeks. and ........... Husband just been formally offered a job. It's been a good week and I might just get a full nights sleep tonight:smile:
  7. Oh yes. Up at 2.30 am yesterday which was earlier than the 4.30am wake-up I've had for the past month. Just booked our flights tonight so probably won't get any sleep
  8. Removals booked for the 1st, fly out on the 16th. See u in Brissie:smile:
  9. We did it without one. Wasn't that bad, most info is available online. Saved us a small fortune!
  10. See you there. It'll fly by, how exciting
  11. Very sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts are with you x
  12. Oh yes, shipping! I'll ink in that date soon, haha.
  13. i read the Coomera Community page on FB and it really does feel like there's a real sense of community. I think we've chosen the right place to settle BTW really excited about meeting all of you!
  14. Theres no parking near Darren's work. He'll have to take the train. Hopefully (it takes Sooo long for official contracts to be drawn up) he'll be working for Brisbane City Council!
  15. Haha, flights booked (no). Nothing like leaving it to the last minute! Will be flying out of Gatwick. I'm going first with my son (10). Daughter will join us a week later. Husband has to work his notice, so October for him and then hopefully straight into his new job (fingers crossed). So much to do and so little time!! Will look forward to catching up with you all. It makes me feel so much better knowing we're not alone in all this. Xx
  16. When we were over for our reccie we stayed on the Gold Coast holiday park. They've changed the website and I can't get through to the booking page so will find somewhere different. My son loves a skate park! I'm sure he'll be a regular there, he's 10 btw. Good to hear that you like Helensvale school. I was a bit worried about the schools and had started looking at the private ones but would prefer not to have to spend the cash. OH is waiting for confirmation of a job offer which will mean a commute to Brissie but we really like Helensvale. Look forward to meeting you all
  17. Welcome to the moving to GC in Sept club! We move over on the 8th, no rental sorted yet. We're looking at Helensvale, Oxenford & Coomera (not Upper)! We're all going to have to meet up for a drink. Would be good to have people to share same experience with.
  18. I too worry about that. However they allowed us in to validate so I'm hoping it's all ok.
  19. I'm gutted to hear my DAB won't work. Will bring mine anyway. It's the best present I've ever been bought. It looks like a Marshall Amp, and goes up to volume 11!! Will use it as an ornament unless I can get the mechanics changed.
  20. That's scary. Just goes to show how quickly you could be wiped out. I remember driving back from Devon, on the last stretch home on the M4. Middle lane and glimpsed a white van man on the hard shoulder waving his arms madly. Less than a minute later I overtook a car then suddenly realised that it was facing the wrong way. Looked the guy squarely in the face and he looked petrified. I don't know what happened after that but it still shakes me up thinking about it!
  21. Don't want to be stereotypical but have you ever watched big fat gypsy wedding? Most of the men had mullets. I can spot a gypsy a mile away by the hair now.
  22. Yep, as of yesterday I am unemployed! I'm a (was a HLTA). Daunting isn't it? OH yet to hand in notice till we exchange, but, boy dies it feel odd. BTW, as Tina says, your in good company, few of us leaving these shores at the same time. Seems we're all from the same region also!
  23. Kellie, join the Coomera community page on FB. It covers the Northern end of the GC. It's a great source of info on schools etc. x
  24. I'm not saying any goodbyes, just I'll see u soon. My mums already gone out and bought a massive suitcase for when she flys over in January for a few months (I'll be wanting to murder her by the end of it ) Skype will be my new friend. What happens if nobody out there likes me? I'm used to having my support network of 'let's pop round for a cuppa or bottle and laughing of any woes'. We've wanted this move for Sooo long but maybe the looking forward & planning it was the best bit!! Ok, it's all going to be fine.....
  25. Yep, me too! Our kids r 10yr & 18yr. OH is a very mature 38 yr old & Im a very immature 46 where abouts will u be living? We're looking at Helensvale & surrounding areas. Can't believe it's happening, what am I doing?
