  1. Anything like that in Oz Bobj? I must admit I am so used to seeing all the great northern hemisphere constellations. It really will be a strange feeling looking up to unfamiliar stars when I eventually get down under. I grew up in an area with very little light pollution so saw all the time the great bear, Pleiades, polaris etc...will be odd down under.
  2. Anyone catch the meteorite shower last night? Was going to bed and looked out of the window and couldn't believe it I saw 2 of the biggest shooting stars i have ever seen! Did go to bed wondering if there would be an alien invasion LOL Apparently is some sort of annual shower that hits earth, only in the northern hemishpere though - sorry Oz LOL
  3. I knew Posh Spice was only good for flipping burgers LOL:laugh:
  4. Hoff I thought people were supposed to turn BLUE in the cold weather, maybe the lack of sunshine has contributed to your GREEN hue....you should get back out to the gold Coast ASAP...get a bit of sun LOL
  5. HAHA hopefully you dont use the movie Chopper as input/inspiration into any conflict resolution!?
  6. yeah is pretty good actually - well was at the time. just thought about it after your comment,
  7. seen that movie falling down? LOL
  8. thanks I was wondering what on earth that was?!
  9. german company. I remember when I lived in Birmingham I went to Aldi. They have a reputation for being really cheap. At the checkout I noticed they were selling huge bars of high quality 70% pure chocolate for 50p or so. i recognised the label and it was a good european brand that presumably no one had heard of in the UK - being sold cheap in Brum...Needless to say I stocked up with it LOL Some time later I saw the same brand being sold in some high end food chain for 5 time s the price. I had to laugh.
  10. pretty bad selection of beer if you ask me. Do they not sell belgium beer?
  11. My partner did the Academic because of her profession and with the idea it may help if she applied to doi a Phd in Australia. They are both very similar, the speaking and listening I believe is the same in both exams. To be honest I dont think the adademic exam is that much more difficult than the general....though my other half did get a higher mark than me in the academic one and english is not her first language, plus i only did the general LOL
  12. is funny that, my partner is Chinese and many people cannot accept that she is from China because of her high level of English and perfect accent(sounds a bit american). She learnt english at school in china incidently. Funny old world!
  13. no culture at all that why we need people from other cultures(presumably better?), to enrich the english one. basically we just like drinking, fighting, tattoos, swearing, football etc... or thats what we seem to be repeatedly told as some sort of mantra the left will have us believe, if reading CiF is anything to go by.
  14. more like the presumed moral high ground of the left.
  15. Thats true, i went home to scotland on one ocassion and went to the best fish and chip placwe as my mum and dad say. After eating that greasy pile of deep fried potatoe and battered haddock i thought to myself that actually it isnt so great after all LOL still despite that i would love to have a nice bag now myself
  16. I watched the dutch GB game last night - the brits were smashed to pieces, was a bit embarrissing watching that performance, punctured by the occassional laughs of incredulity at such a miserable performance and the huge gap between the two teams LOL :biglaugh:
  17. From the some of the posts here it appears that Australians are like some tortured smeagol character from the lord of the rings having a schizophrenic love-hate relationship with the UK LOL
  18. British chips or American 'chips'?
  19. i had an annoying experience in my workplace, quite petty really. We have these stupid corporation dress guidlines. It stipulates what you have to wear and how to groom yourself etc. Beards are forbiden etc. Still many of the long termer have goatees, moustaches and beards etc... No comments were made of them but one collegue alsways used to make a comment to me if i had not shaved and he had a goatee !! Also a manager used to prowl the office space and pick up if i hadnt shaved. It was really stressful and annoying. Especially when it was one rule for some and another rule for others. Now I just ont give a crap anywmore and dont let it stress me. Is funny really as people were worrying about that when all the important stuff in the office was going unaddressed....priorites huh?!
  20. maybe you should complain to the HR. If these things go unaddressed they can cause misery. I am sure once HR address it the bullying would disappear. Failing that consider moving employer the collegues sound infantile. Can you give an example of what comments they make? Also where do you work(not that it should makje a difference) it is in an office right?
  21. you had a free massage (or nearly) earlier with the stranger...!
  22. probably the sad thing is that we pose more threat to them and their habitat, the spider int he picture above was recently discovered(in israel) but now threatened due to mining. May go extinct even a bit sad really.
  23. Unfortunately they are EVERYWHERE!! :arghh: j u s t kidding!
  24. crickey that's tough! I blame all the fools that have abused the system for so long that now people who are genuine find it tough to go home! jeez
