hey Hoff how was your vacation in Portugal? I hear there was a heat wave the week you left in the UK. Same here in Holland we went away just when the weather got really hot here. Still had a great time though To think you could of gone to Blackpool closed your eyes and you could almost imagine you had been in Portugal! LOL :laugh:

English speaking was a big plus for me. After living in Spain and Netherlands for a long time it is refreshing to get your bills and important tax information in English. We looked at the US too but they have a lottery sydtem for the green card plus the vacation days arte limited, plus side you can buy huge cars and clothes cheaply get a handgun(thought the wife woulnd't be keen on that LOL) etc... Also considered the UK but in my profession the salaries on offer seem to be low compared to Holland and Australia, plus overcrowding and some other reasons too in regards to the weather and so forth. A lot of the jobs are also in places that i dont particularly want to live like London, Birminghams, Reading, Oxford(no disrespect to those great locations just been there already). Oxford is nice but expensive etc.. Is a mixed bag really, could possibly return to the UK in 5 years after passport is awarded, though teh missus is making noise about moving to Germany after Australia LOL funny since we havent even moved yet! :wub:

Im wondering it this interview is to determine salary, conditions etc or to make an offer etc... Not sure how it works in Australia for this. I hope it is just to make an offer, dont know if I can jump through any more hoops! :laugh:

Is an interview with HR a good sign? I have had a few interviews already and they seemed to have gone smoothly. This last one though? You reckon this is tryig to determine financially if i am the best candidate?

I think it is good to know about the cost of living, I know what salary I now need to ask for me to maintain my standard of living. I can imagine that the rising costs of Australia may of caught a few people ou and left them bitter. Thats a bit unfortunate. Dont think it is positive or healthy to project the the ill feeling towards others as often is the case.

I wonder if those burkinus are safe to swim in, you always see on surf rescue silly people being dragged out of the ocean half dead because they tried swimming in their clothes.

The problem I have with some arguments for allowing people in unchecked is that they do not appreciate what an industry has developed around the issue. I should imagine the amount of money changing hands in Indonesia is staggering and there must be a few high level government officials involved in all this. By allowing more people in, more money is generated and the flow just increases and the chances for tragedy to these migrants in the difficult crossing increase. They are paying good money with no guarantees, I really think some people are taking advantage of these people. I read there was a boat of 67 people missing already yesterday. tragic!

Last year my occupation dropped off the SS list only to reappear the next year. it will probably reappear for the next round. I am not plugged in to the new system but if you are after a state sponsorship visas then keep an eye on other states too just in case.

when did you leave Perth Perthbum? Also do you think your personal circumstances affected your stay there?

I have to say that I am not always in favour of publically owned services, but things like some energy and public transport like rail it is perhaps better to be owned by the state. The UK is AWEFUL for tickets and services. The netherlands is ok(has been privatised) but I think prices are very much controlled by the government. Still i hear people herr complaining about the service since they were privatised. Maybe it is stipulated by the IMF and World Bank etc that countries have to bend over and get a good(financial) seeing to.

Actually, I would quite like to go out into the countryside in Australia and do a bit of sky gazing. I can imagine the light pollution away from the city being quite low and the quality of air pretty good too. Though I did read that Adelaide suffers from light pollution. Always fancied buying a decent telescope. I guess you are too far north in Australia to see the southern lights.

can you imagine the chaos once china and other developing nations develop the taste for 'middle class' western food i.e meat everyday.

she didnt wake up? i was surprised as I had no idea about the shower. Was just lucky and looking out the window at the right time. Must of been some meteorites as i live slap bang in the city center with all the lights etc...
