  3. it is my dads car in the UK. He was thinking of selling it and i am considering bringing it over when i come.
  4. Any idea how much you can get a second hand Jeep Patriot in Australia for 3 years old 30-40000 miles on the dashboard ? Is it worth bringing over?
  5. Ok I see, must be a way to track him down no? Maybe talk with the council or police maybe they can offer some advice?
  6. They need consent from a sperm donor? What happens if he wishes to remain anonymous duee to his family etc...Seems weird they want this consent in this situation.
  7. Perhaps my post was a little blunt and i feel a little compelled to justify it. I acknowledge the fact that there may be genuine asylum seekers. If Australia is obliged by international law to take some in then that is fair enough. It does presents some problems though. Some countries are not signatory to the convention on refugees which is unfair - it provides an unfair burden on Australia and other signatories when it comes to sending back failed cases - for example Indonesia. If you look at the land available in Australia - yes it is a big country - but it is environmentally incapable of hosting a massive population. Considering the United Nations population projections over the next 50 years: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/datablog/interactive/2011/oct/26/un-world-population-growth If you are of the opinion that immigration will increase with population growth and while immigration will probably be spread to rich countries, it is inconceivable that Australia or the West can continue to take in the present or projected levels of immigration. My comment about the educational standards was not some off the cuff remark but an unfortunate reality. Is commendable that people want to help and people should help by not supporting corruption in third world countries, no sponsoring tyrannies, not fueling wars. Trying to improve education and living conditions in poor countries and trying to control population growth etc...If those principal issues are not addressed then I am of the opinion that weight of illegal immigration will lead to detrimental effects on the host country.
  8. Bob1 one I am sorry you feel that way, it was not intended to sound racist just an honest appraisal of the situation. I don't feel comfortable with the assertion that it is racist to point out uncomfortable facts.
  9. I think there should be no asylum seekers allowed into Australia or the UK. The people from these countries are generally ill educated and can contribute little to the host country except prove to be a drain on resources. If these sorts of people are allowed in over time ghettos appear and cultural balkanisation starts to develop. Have sadly seen this in the UK - admittedly not really with asylum seekers but with lax border controls generally. Also as in America and in UK companies LOVE illegal immigrants as they can cut labour costs and sack legal people(too expensive). Also they seem to bring a lot of cultural baggage with them. To be honest kind of fed up with people trying to celebrate the so called advantages these people bring. I have little time with this. I think it is much better for Western countries to send these people home and stop sponsoring, propping up or nurturing corrupt and tyrannical regimes where these people come from.
  10. Thanks! Gives the extra incentive to go the extra mile and try to become citizens.
  11. What happens if we have children born in Australia? I read that because we have PR they will automatically become Australian citizens. What happens if we do not become citizens in the long run and somehow loose PR will it be easier in the future to regain PR based on the childs status?
  12. As opposed to the labour scheme of flooding the country with illegal immigrants to punish the conservatives and get new votes?
  13. If these people overstay on their visa they are in Australia illegally. They should know better and not expect to be treated with open arms if they are abusing the immigration system. For them it will be easy to deport as they will have their personal details. The boat people in my opinion should be put onto floating barges off christmas island, they will not have technically landed on Australian soil then. In a world of increasing population Australia does not have the resources to be the dumping ground of the worlds flotsam. Perhaps there should be a tax option for people that are in favour of refugees so they can pay higher taxes to support them.
  14. Unfortunate as it is they are in Australia illegally. They are paying people smugglers huge sums of money for the trip to Australia in dangerous vessels. They are hardly asylum seekers if they are coming from Sri Lanka or Iran - having traveled through numerous 'safe' countries to get to Australia. Is good to see Australia tax payers dollars being used for some good. This would never happen in the UK and look what a haven for illegal immigrants the UK has become.
  15. I had two assessments done. One for Systems Analyst and another for Software Tester. I originally got it done for Software Tester as that was on the SS list, later it disappeared so I got a new assessment done for Systems Analyst as my job covers both occupations. I was successful in both assessment and they are both valid. In hindsight I made a bit of a meal of the process and getting two assessments was probably a waste of money - had i waited i could of redone the ielts for full marks or waited for the SS occupation to reappear on the list. good luck
  16. Ahh great news! I was in New Zealand years ago for about 6 months and I loved it there. Really a beautiful country. Never got to the south island though due to shortage of cash LOL Well done and congrats!
  17. im looking forward to the sailing with all the great landmarks etc..
  18. Critics will say NHS stuff and choice of performers was an orgy of socialistic, multicultural, utopian propaganda. In a way they would probably be right. However, I really enjoyed the show and music, though I don't know how representative of Britain the show actually was. Seemed a shame that the thousands of years of history were not mentioned and concentrated really on the last 200 years. The show i.e. dizzy rascal, the music, performers etc probably summed up London 100% though. Was a vibrant and entertaining show.
