  1. Incorrect... 9 deaths in the last decade and numerous attacks... Check out the timeline on page 1 of this thread
  2. It seems to be ticking away fine. Industry dependent I suppose but nobody I know is out of work. I think recovery is probably the wrong choice of word as it levelled out as opposed to slumping but on the whole it seems to be relatively healthy at the moment in my opinion and experience.
  3. I reckon they play down the amount of sharks out there as it could affect tourism. Sadly it will only be a matter of time before someone else is ripped open by one in WA.
  4. I love the beach, there ain't no sharks on it! Still wouldn't get in the ocean though!
  5. Recruitment agent are nothing more than sales people and usually just as devious and slimey as car sales people. I have no time for them through experience. Waste of time IMO.
  6. Was just watching the evening news report on it and it was a surfer who was attacked. The shark apparently bounced off another surfers board before attacking the deceased guy. He was dragged to shore but died if his injuries. RIP.
  7. I don't actually believe that when you look at the shark attack statistics. How many people in WA have been struck by lightningin the last 10 years?

  9. I have never and never will go in the water over here. The waters are rife with sharks. I read they had to close Cottesloe beach earlier this week as a shark was spotted just 20 meters off the shore.
  10. A MAN has been killed in a possible shark attack in the state's South West. Police and St John Ambulance were called to Left-handers beach, near Gracetown, shortly after 9am following reports of a shark attack. A spokesman for WA Police said officers arrived at the beach, near the carpark at the end of Left Handers Road, to find a man deceased. He said inquiries were continuing into the circumstances surrounding his death and the report of a shark attack. The Department of Fisheries has been advised and will also investigate the incident. The attack comes six weeks after abalone fisherman Greg Pickering survived a shark attack, 180 kms east of Esperance on the state's southern coast. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/man-killed-in-shark-attack-at-lefthanders-beach-near-gracetown/story-fnhocxo3-1226766778852
  11. I wouldn't waste my time with Seek. Research companies that you would be suited to and write to them direct. Seek is full of agencies collecting CV's and advertising jobs that don't exist.
  12. I reckon by the time I look back in here at 8pm (WA time) this thread will have turned to sh!t like the previous Scottish independence thread that was started last year. I won't be voting for Alex Salmon and his cronies anyway! I want the UK to stay United.
  13. Be aware that it's a mining town therefore rental accomodation is extremely expensive so if accomodation isn't included in your transfer then It's something I'd look in to a bit more.
  14. Perth's roads are becoming increasingly more congested. Major infrastructure projects are needed to keep up with the growth in population!!
  15. Proper dry humour...Very British indeed
  16. No it won't but I do hope she suffers!!
  17. Her time wasn't long enough regardless of whether she has spent a period of time in prison.. She is a scumbag.. Pure and simple and should't be walking the streets.. Hope she dies a painful death!!
  18. The Perth rental market has eased up recently and not as difficult as it has been the last couple of years... Glad your sorted though.
  19. Partly due the the poor construction of houses. No insulation, double glazing etc. just wait until winter kicks in. I visited my mate in Melbourne last August and I could have sworn I was back in Glasgow with the cold and rain.. Lol
  20. I'm sure this story runs every year. It'll be freezing, likely snow, rain a lot etc but people just get on with it as they have every other year. I must say, I don't miss the Scottish winters though. Hated scraping my car in the morning and getting wet feet in the snow and sludge!
  21. When I read the title of the thread my heart sunk for you but it ended on a great note! Well done! :jiggy:
  22. Sorry to sound negative but in the current climate you won't be likely to get a job while applying from the UK. There are plenty of Project Engineers over here in Aus looking for work. The conditions of a WHV would also reduce your chances of being employed as an Engineer as you can only stay with the same company for 6 months. A couple of years ago you would have had a better chance but it had quietened down in the last year. Personally I'd go down the skilled migration route if you qualify.
  23. http://jezebel.com/5126163/outlaw-bikers-rescue-orphaned-kittens Someone had better contact the author on this article and let them know ASAP that they are incorrect using the term BIKER and in fact it should be BIKIE............... Or would that just be pedantic??
  24. Alright Alright... That's me been set straight!!.. . Still think it was a bit on the pedantic / picky side but I shall retire from this thread with my tail between my legs.
  25. WTF Is the difference between a biker gang and a bikie gang? They are called biker gangs in every other country in the world.. Just bikie is Australia as they like to put an 'IE' on the end of many words! At the end of the day everyone knows what they are whether we choose to call them Biker or bikie.. Talk about being pedantic!!
