  1. I've been led to believe you start from scratch here. No one takes notice of your previous credit history in the uk...
  2. My whv took about 30 days due to a minor criminal conviction. My other few mates, theirs came back within few hours. What's your long term plans? Just do the 1 or 2 years or do you have pans to stay. I came on whv with intention of staying, just meant I could be here waiting on visas etc to be granted. I'm in perth and haven't been out of WA as of yet, so much to see and do just in WA. Either way... Have a great time..

  4. Just waiting on my 489, submitted via agent who front loaded all documents on the 19th Nov 12. Agent called me few week ago saying case officer etc all ok, only issue was CO was insisting on points advice from TRA. What a joke, already done my skillsassessments which were fine, apparently points advice is at the discretion of the CO. my agent was contesting but was holding the process up. In the end I've had to pay another $300, rip off for something that is of no value just a money making scheme.
  5. Quote ''Your immigration status A bridging visa has been granted to the applicant(s) listed in the attached Bridging Visa Grant Notice, which contains important information about your bridging visa..'' ''About your bridging visa As another bridging visa was in effect when you made this application, the visa currently in effect is the most beneficial to these two visas. More information about bridging visas is available at http://www.immi.gov.au Travel overseas This bridging visa only allows you to remain in Australia. When you leave Australia, your bridging visa will cease, even if you hold another type of visa that does allow you to leave and return to Australia. Bridging visa conditions Your bridging visa has been granted subject to the conditions specified in the table above and outlined below in more detail. If you do not comply with these conditions, there may be serious consequences including: ● ● ● visa cancellation detention removal from Australia.''
  6. I hope it's that straightforward, found something on the immi website advising 'To travel overseas for compelling and compassionate reasons, you must apply for a Bridging B (Subclass 020) visa to allow you to return to Australia.' is a monthnoffnatxmas with off these, my flight for this holiday was booked in advance of me applyingnformmy 489 visa.
  7. Hi Guys ive had a letter today saying I am now n a bridging visa. I was under impression I was on working holiday visa until next June and would need to then apply for a bridging visa. Problem I have is that I have a flight booked for a month in Thailand for Christmas and new year period. The letter says it will be cancelled if I leave. Fair enough, however will I be able to re enter my current working holiday or is that no longer in affect?
  8. my 489 was submitted today, the wait begins.
  9. If you other half has a degree in QS then he would get job pretty easy i would imagine
  10. I'm going to agent now in Balcatta to get some advice. I've been invited and have to apply by the 19th.
  11. I was thinking more about the diac one being assigned case officer etc. wa didn't ask for any evidence for ss
  12. i have decided to put in the application for my 489 this week. I will be moving from Clarkson down to Mandurah, I have managed to get work to move me down there for 12 months with the option of coming back up if need be in 2 years. I have a question regarding finance, on a 489 application how much money do you think i will need to prove I have. Be honest I have a job but I dont have 1000's saved. Its not an issue to have money in my bank at the time of asking but it wont be mine. It will be a loan of such. I will already be living and working in the area for more than 3 months by the time I get asked so do I still need to prove anything?

    Dilema

I have been in OZ since end July so have a few months yet, plus I have access to regional work when required so I should be able to extend by another 12 months. I might even have to go back to do gas fitting maybe for a few years.
  14. He wasnt saying that they can't get visas or do any type of welding in other industries he was saying that the offshore oil and gas industry has strong unions and its very difficult for non residents/citizens to gain employment as most projects are union.
  15. In WA try R J Vincent, Brierty, Ertech, John Holland, Main Roads, BOCOL, Georgio, Cossil & Webley. I work in the industry but I'm pretty new to it myself and in a HSE Role. Linkedin is an excellent tool. I have recruitment consultants contacting me all the time. Just add anybody in your industry, groups, location, I know they say not to but its a godo way of accessing the network you want.

    Dilema

I'm only 27 so the 10 points from 7.5 is OK, gutted didnt get the 8 as that would have been a magic 20. My invitation runs out 20/11/12. I'm thinking of doing my cert IV in OHS, people have told me I can use that for more points as safety is related to any job......

    Dilema

Problem I have, I am employed as a Health and Safety Advisor not a Gas fitter. H&S is something I was trying to get into in the UK but with jobs market it was becoming impossible. Fell right into a dream job here.
  18. When I look on Seek there seems to be lot of Welder jobs. I have a friend who is a senior welding inspector offshore. He was telling me only residents/citizens can work on these jobs something to do with the unions, I may well be wrong. I'd of thought with all the new oil and gas pipelines you'd be laughing.

    Dilema

Good Evening guys I'm currently in Perth on a whv and have been working since I arrived. The company say they will sponsor me but I dont knwo how they can due to my level of experience/qualification in the job I am doing at present. Other than that I am a gas fitter by trade, I have a TRA assessment complete and I now have IELTS complete with 7.5 lowest average 8.5 (gutted). Bascially I applied for state sponsorship early May but it took forever to get a decision. WA advised me that I needed to do the IELTS to get state sponsorship for the 190 which I did and failed by 0.5. Basically during this time they took my occupation off the WA list and only way to get state sponsorship at that time 20/09/12 was to accept nomination for the 489. Now, I really do want to stay but a 489 is way to restrictive for me. I was kinda persuaded by the lady at WA to accept it as she was saying well at least it will enable you to stay in the country etc. I now want to update my EOI and hope to still get an invitation for the 190. Now I have been invited is my application still able to be invited to apply for other visas or is it frozen. i really need to update it to add my english test results. Maybe I need to go and see an immigration consultant here in Perth.
  20. thanks for that useful read. so............if we have sites in regional WA I can 'work' anywhere but when time comes just say I have been working there as long as company are happy to sign to say the fact is true. In theory i can work from home, however my office is in Perth. So if i live in regional 'or were to have an address' I could swing it until I can get the rsms which I know my company are willing to put me on.
  21. I had a recent criminal conviction and had police check, wrote letter saying i was sorry etc etc and visa granted. Declared it on immigration form and got pulled to one side at Perth, guy aske dme few questions went away and came back with a big smile saying 'welcome to australia'. no shame in declaring it, just dont be caught lying
  22. it means nominated by the state or sponsored by the family
  23. Hi Guys Things stressing me out. I am a gasfitter by trade however ventured off into the world of health and safety part time back in the UK for the 6 months before I left. I have a TRA positive assessment for gas fitter and at the moment I am living in Perth on a working holiday visa in a fantastic job which I love as a HSEQ Advisor. Company have said they will sponsor me from day 1 but I have doubts unless they can sponsor me in some way as a gas fitter which would basically mean they would have to 'adjust' my job title. I havent said much to them as I enoy the money coming in and dont want to end up without a job which I have settled into really well. I applied for state sponsorship for a 189 and the kind lady from WA rang me to tell me she worked out I was 5 points short and recomended I change to the 489 or go take an IELTS test which I did. Stupidly I didnt revise and thought I'd breeze it, actually thought I did during the test and ended up with an 8 overall but a 6.5 in reading which I thought was easy, have a feeling I messed up transfering answer to the sheet. Anyway, WA said my occupation is coming off the list this week and wont have tiem to take another english test which I do have booked for the 13th Oct (still pray for a 190). In the meantime I agreed to be put on the 489 as she was saying at least i will be able to stay in Australia just have to work/live out of Perth for two years. I scanned the form, and 1 hour later I have an invitation to apply from Skillselect. Very quick indeed. My worry is, Living out of Perth isnt much of a problem but working will be as I really dont want to do the Gas fitting again. Does anyone have any information on how closely monitored you are on a 489, with the surveys etc, what kind of evidence do they request and how does it work converting it to permanent residency after 2 years. Also will it affect my ability to stay permanent if I get offered visa as gas fitter but never work in that industry from day one? Other option she hinted to was to find a gas fitter willing to give me a job offer and apply for an off list nomination, I get the impression she was saying without saying if you knwo what I mean to not actually take up that employement once visa is granted as it would be a 189 and permanent anyway. Your thoughst guys. Stressing!
  24. Had my results today. Gutted to say the least. 8.5 listening, 9 speaking, 7 writing and 6.5 reading. I was worried about the writing as I didn't use any paragraphs. The others I thought were pretty easy. I only need 7 in each one. Pretty pointless giving you an overall mark of 8 if you can't use it.
