    Ielts

I have just booked by test for next Saturday here in Perth. I think I may have disregarded the fact these could well be difficult. With dyslexia I can imagine it’s tough. Those guys that have done them, do you have any tips in terms of how to prepare? What format are the tests in? I've literally only booked my test 2 minutes ago, tried to get one in for tomorrow earlier today but no spaces. Do they really need much preparation for a native English speaker with a decent level of language skills I’m not in any way knocking guys who have found them difficult just annoys me silly that as a 27 year old born and bred English speaker with a decent level of education I still have to sit these bloody tests.

I'm going to ring tomorrow and ask if the english points will help. I can get an appointment for this weekend in Perth to do the test at $330 . The company i am with say they will sponsor me but I am not sure they will be able to because i'm employed as an HSEQ Advisor and not a gasfitter here...

    Help please

This is what I recieved from WA state. I applied for sponsorship. Looks like i need to do my english test to get more points which is bloody ridiculas. I'm in WA in a good job loving life and bloody visa driving me mad Dear Nicholas I am currently assessing your nomination with the Government of Western Australia and the EOI you submitted to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and have a concern with the number of years overseas work experience your have claimed. It is my understanding that only years worked after your apprenticeship can be counted towards points for work experience. Based on this you completed your trade between 3/10/2003-1/12/2004 and can only claim the points from 2/12/2004-25/5/2012 (7.48 years) which is the last employment history included in your EOI. My calculations are as follows: Age = 30, O/S Wk Exp = 10, Quals = 10 TOTAL = 50 (You will received additional points for the State nomination 190 = 5, 489 = 10) There are a couple of options available: 1. Transfer this application to the 489 nomination where the State will give you an additional 10 points to take you to the 60 points required for that visa. However if granted this visa is a 3 year provisional visa with a pathway to permanent residency once you have lived for 2 years and worked for 1 year in a regional area of Western Australia. What it does mean is that you and any family members inlcuced in that visa are not allow to live and work in the Perth metropolitan area until you have become a permanent resident. 2. If you are still currently working as a gasfitter include that work experience in your EOI or if you completed an apprenticeship prior to your Gasfittter qualification include that as well. This still may not be sufficient years of experience to claim points. It has to be 8 of the last 10 years recent work experience to claim the maximum 15 points. I am very conscious that once you have been invited to apply for a visa with DIAC you are unable to substantiate your claims for the points, your visa will be declined. The other area that has also become an issue is that your nominated occupation is not currently available on the Western Australia Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) so at this stage you are not able to reapply at a later date. If you wish to discuss your application further please contact this office between 8.30am-4.30pm and ask to speak with Sue Harcus, otherwise provide email confirmation that you wish to transfer this application to the 489 nomination. I look forward to hearing from you.
