Hi Thanks to all who responded to my last post about building a home in Australia. I just wanted to get some advice on how you went about obtaining your mortgage in Australia. We are due to have a meeting with NAB bank next week to discuss any mortgage offers... We sold our house in England have subsequent equity...around $160,000 which we can put down - so we are not scraping together a deposit. I have lots of paperwork i brought from UK ....ten years mortgage statements etc... Anyone else been in a similar position? My only concern is that we both work part time at the moment. Ronin x

Hey all Just wanted to see if anyone on here has built a new house in Australia? We are considering building a new house in the Hunter region of NSW. We have looked at the show homes - all very nice etc - know that that is the top spec etc. But has anyone actually built with one of the major companies? Claredon homes, allworth homes? We have seen a price for a design we like at 155,950. Land at 219,000. What other costs are likely? How long does it take? What do these companies not want you to know? Has anyone ever haggled a reduction? Any advice greatly received. Best Ronin
