You left nothing back in OZ no bank accounts money, homes, investments, clothes ANYTHING, you have move all you belongs back to the uk you have links in the uk and you are not going back to OZ. If you have any questions re the HRT PM me. Good luck Tina

We did tons of research before we came and had visited before so had a rough idea of where we wanted to be. Then when we arrived we have ended up no where we had even looked at, so i wasted all that time doing all that internet research. Im a midwife and jobs are very thin on the ground in Brisbane, many more in NSW and Perth (when i'm doing job seaarches any way) so you might want to see where the work is and head there. Good luck Tina

Hi, Exactly what are you meant to do if we did not pay not only would we not have got our stuff back, which came yesterday but would have got charges huge storage fees. Watch this space. Tina
-
Hi Hun, Just seen your FB post!!! Most say no AQIS fees it not really that I'm moaning about it the 'knock up' they have charge to prepare our stiff for AQIS inspection, which should be included in the shipping cost's. Watch this space. Tina
-
I have the same issue, UK shippers quoted $20-$30 per cubic metre for AQIS which should = $322.80 - $484.20 for our 16.14 cubic metres however our bill is $595. The company here in Brisbane have also said they are bulk billed but I have again requested this information stating that i want the actually AQIS clearance forms. I have emailed AQIS/DAFF to check the amount as the web site quoting their prices was last updated November 2010. When I gey a reply, which can be up to 10 days I will pass the information on to all. How long does it take to secure a rental
family of five replied to KERZO's topic in Renting & Real Estate
We had 18 nights booked so was on a mission to find something and we did, so it can be done. I will say however book viewings before you arrive as what it says on the web site does not actually mean its available or ready for viewing so it often looks like they are more house than there is. You also need to phone the agents as they hardly ever reply to emails. When you arrive go to all the agents in the area and get an application form and fill it out ready then if you like the property hand it in at the viewing we missed one house as someone had handed in the application even before the viewing. So chasing agents is what its all about. Good luck Tina -
Dear All, We have been in Oz five weeks now and apart from visiting MacDonald’s for internet we have not been on line. Looking forward to catching up with you all and posting an arriving report (as I love reading those). Any way I have the kids settled in school and Rob's in work so now time for me (should have internet next week so can start applying for jobs ) So is there anyone who would give my CV a look over and tell me where I have gone wrong (as I am sure I have). I really need a great CV to get my foot in the door as not done the job I am looking for (midwife) since I qualified due to delays in our visa we never got here when expected. So if there are any midwives/nurses or anyone else really please can you PM me and I will send it to you. Many thanks in advance and looking forward to posting on here once my modem arrives. Tina x

We keep saying we will never gather this much crap again, but I fear over the years the next house will fill up. I have already packed the cases and they will leave the house as I don't want them being sent off with the shipping. Tina

Just be aware, you may not need the skills assessment now but will if you want to change to PR. Tina http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/175336-unsuccessful-tra-skills-test-chef-2.html -
Leaving Presents after the container has gone! Ideas needed.
family of five replied to ClaireandPilch's topic in Aussie Chat
You can order IKEA gift cards on line, but they have to be mailed to an Aussie address. http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/store/perth/services_giftcard Or what about UK M & S, they often have free delivery to Oz at times during the year last one was before xmas, so just save them and do a bulk order once you have been there a while and know what you really want. Good luck Tina -
Hi me again, Just found this about AFQ's, the good news is as you are in Oz it will still count. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/112439-same-old-problem-aqf-level-iii-assessment.html

Hi Gemma, I have had a re read (not had to read this document for a while) of the sections 2.6.1, 2.6.3, 2.6.4 and 2.8.4 and think the following may be your issue. 2.6.1 - if you have certificates then this section would be ok but at present the lack of certificates your OH does not for fill this section as no evidence cannot be provided. 2.6.3 - TRA wants to compare your current qualification with the same type in Australia, again without a qualification they have nothing to compare it too. 2.6.4 - Ditto 2.8.4 - If you had an AFQ III and evidence of work history then this could be considered as being at a level that would be acceptable to the Australia labour market. I take it you are already living in OZ, therefore I would get an AFQ III and then submit a new application. The whole concept behind TRA is to check that the job you do is up to the same level as they would expect to employee an aussie, without any certificates they simply have nothing to make a comparison. I would think without any certificates even with 15 years experience you would always get a negative result, you simply cannot provide evidence for the sections 2.6.1, 2.6.3, 2.6.4 and 2.8.4. Even with the AQF they may not consider work experience prior to the qualification acceptable. We (me and OH) have got through a TRA application after gaining a AQF but TRA only accepted it because for his job there is no UK qualification, therefore on that basis we could argue he was not able to gain any qualification in the UK. However as for chef there are UK equalivant qualifications so may not accept an AQF which has recently been gained. Sorry to seem a bit negative but to more forward you really need to have plan and may not have time to waste. I would think speaking to a good agent would be a start and contact your local TAFE etc to see about courses. Good luck with it all TRA is the worse part, please ask if you have any questions Tina
